3 wins from 4 I think for them. A fine win away from home.

Supposed to be very close to playing. He is training away but the match might be too soon. Sounds like he may be sub or given a half type of thing.

    Limerick 1-14 Cork 0-20 FT

Minor game was very interesting. Both sides were very good. Cork were getting on top in the first half when Limerick got a goal and it drove them on for the half. Going in a point ahead

Second half Cork were much tighter tackling and Biggane, Lynch and Walsh were the standouts. Limerick missed about four frees in a row that would have kept it closer. Should really be getting them. But Cork were really tigerish in their tackling in the second half and were giving Limerick nothing easy. In the first half Limerick got numerous very easy points. Work rate was immense from Cork in the second half

Only disappointing thing is Cork picked up numerous injuries. Walsh seemed to be limpng throughout the second half too. Now straight into the Munster final!

Would do no harm imo, he's not a starter as he cannot win his own ball. He's best suited to coming on fresh and running at hopefully tiring opposition.

Ben O'Connor has signed a contract with the Munster rugby academy. Extremely difficult decision for him, his first love is hurling but being able to play a sport professionally is what swung it. In fairness to Munster rugby they are allowing him finish out the GAA season.

The Echo is a local newspaper, whose articles are tailored towards a Cork audience. Their writers are under no obligation to be impartial about things.

Waterford only lost narrowly to Limerick, so we'll have to be at our best to beat them. This is a team that went toe to toe with Limerick in championship combat. Something we haven't done since 2019 when we beat Limerick at the Gaelic Grounds.

Is that team close to or basically the same as played the last 3 games?

I don’t believe that was an Echo show that day - that was Big Red Bench on RedFM. It came across awfully.

Damien Cahalane starting for Cork at the weekend. Anytime he is involved with Cork they are going nowhere. Is there someone better in the county to replace him? I can't answer that but he's there along time and isn't good enough In my view. Has got his opportunities over the years along with Conor Lehane. We will see what this year brings but not confident with the above still involved. Just my view with the team for the weekend. If Cork want to be successful they are going to have to at least drop these players from the panel. If this was Tipp or Killkenny they wouldn't get a second chance or Limerick of late.

Cork Hurling Team for Sunday. Tommy O’Connell, Brian Roche and Declan Dalton get handed their first Championship starts. Eoin Downey is suspended and his brother comes in at Full Back. Fitzgibbon is back. Shane Kingston, Tim O'Mahony and Robbie O’Flynn are among the subs. Our subs look a lot stronger this year in my opinion.

CORK (SHC v Waterford): Patrick Collins (Ballinhassig); Niall O’Leary (Castlelyons, captain), Robert Downey (Glen Rovers), Damien Cahalane (St Finbarr’s); Tommy O’Connell (Midleton), Ciarán Joyce (Castlemartyr), Ger Millerick (Fr O’Neills); Brian Roche (Bride Rovers), Darragh Fitzgibbon (Charleville); Séamus Harnedy (St Ita’s), Conor Lehane (Midleton), Declan Dalton (Fr O’Neills); Luke Meade (Newcestown), Patrick Horgan (Glen Rovers), Shane Barrett (Blarney).

Subs: Ger Collins (Ballinhassig), Cormac O’Brien (Newtownshandrum), Tim O’Mahony (Newtownshandrum), Brian O’Sullivan (Kanturk), Ethan Twomey (St Finbarr’s), Conor Cahalane (St Finbarr’s), Brian Hayes (St Finbarr’s), Seán Twomey (Courcey Rovers), Robbie O’Flynn (Erin’s Own), Pádraig Power (Blarney), Shane Kingston (Douglas).

    Are the goalkeepers related?

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,440 ✭✭✭The White Feather

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,180 ✭✭✭evolvingtipperary101

Two Cork keepers from one household. That's unreal. And I guess the full back position too. Is that a first? Has to be. Two brothers on the same panel. Starting and sub for one position. (I know Eoin is suspended. but it will be the case soon)

With O'Connor if it doesn't work out for him with rugby he could eventually return to GAA as happened with Alan Tynan.

  • Registered Users Posts: 559 ✭✭✭Corcaigh84

He'll be as big a loss as Setanta was 20 years ago. An absolute disaster for us again losing out to another oval shaped ball

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,422 ✭✭✭✭callaway92

Cork have lost their opening Munster Championship match 4x years in a row. (Includes 2 years of the Knockout system).

Similar batch of players, and with Waterford having the aid of being able to gather some good data on last week, I have a feeling they'll come to PUC and knick the match.

I'd say Sweetnam was a much bigger loss than Setanta.

Limerick leading 0-9 to 0-4 after 20 min. Fair enough Limerick have more to play for but we are 2nd to every ball, kinda going through the motions

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,440 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Just about to say the same thing. Every ball we are second to or a few steps behind. We look like we haven't got out of first gear yet. At least its only 4 points behind as I type

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,058 ✭✭✭zetecescort

Healy goal gets us back into it, 0-11 to 1-6.

We've started to get into the game in the last 5 of the half.

Cremin had 5 attempts before he got the ball in hand but a quick offload lead to the first goal of the game.

Only 3 down at ht. Considering how we've played, we have to be happy with the score.

Limericks number 14 could well have been sent off, use of the hurley after a bit of shouldering. Not even a yellow. No harm done, but still.

  • Registered Users Posts: 605 ✭✭✭supernova5

yea Adam English should have been given at least a yellow there and on many others days that's a red

  • Moderators, Category Moderators, Recreation & Hobbies Moderators, Sports Moderators Posts: 32,510 CMod ✭✭✭✭ShamoBuc

Limerick seem to be getting their frees rather easily.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,440 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Jeez the ref gives every 50-50 to Limerick

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,440 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Why on earth are we letting them do short puckouts over and over?
