We have nothing to fear going into the semi final anyway.

Great week for Cork GAA. Weekend might be different but least we are seeing signs in both codes that we might have bright future

Very disappointed with the team and not one bit surprised. If we lose tomorrow and I think we will. I think KK and Co have to go.

Won't be much in it tomorrow I think, but I reckon we might scrape a win.

Sunday could well be a different kettle of fish. Kerry will surely be out for revenge and we have a habit of not playing as well as we can. We have a handy enough squad but our tactics and decision making will probably leave us down. Hard to see beyond a Kerry victory really,

I don't see us losing but if we do they will definitely have to go. I think we will have too much for Clare especially with the subs to come on.

  • Registered Users Posts: 213 ✭✭Pos087

26 man squad and only 3 can catch the ball from distance. Deasy won’t get a game so down to TOM and Seamus.

Clare have two main treats Kelly and Shanagher. 2 ways to stop Shanagher, one is put someone on him that will stop him. This will not happen with Rob D. Second is stop the ball going into him. That is not going to happen with an front 8 who can’t tackle, block, hook.

Im going to games a long time but have enough of this notion that tippy tappy hurling wins matches. Look at minor and under 20 last week. What grit and fight. This is the bench mark.

I normally don’t have a rant but this is a joke.

After a great couple of weeks of underage wins that is really deflating tbh. Yet again we are asking Harnedy to win every ball. Coleman is great with ball in hand but is a poor marker, Kelly will have a field day. What does Barrett have to do to start? Not convinced on Downey either but with Cahalane and Cadagon out he is next best I guess.

Really sad news for the Cork U20 footballers.

Conor Corbett's season is over as he has a cruciate knee injury in that win over Tipperary.

Best wishes to him in his recovery

Full time in the Camogie Senior All Ireland Championship

    Cork 1-13(16)

    Down 0-10(10)

Good first half. 4 points up. There are a load of goals there for us. We could and should have had 2 more. With our subs to come on too I think they will make the difference in the second half.

2-09 v 0-11, happy with that. Harnedy is so frustrating!

There are goals there for us in the second half again I think.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,038 ✭✭✭zetecescort

We'll need the subs too. Cadogan hardly touched the ball, O'Flynn and Harnedy with some poor wides all though both have set up scores. Half backs doing well, breaking slot of ball

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,415 ✭✭✭The White Feather

Bit of a by the by, but why are we in white and not red? Just wondered that in the first half

Get in Barrett, 5 up with 4 plus injury time left.

Dramatic late action sees 13 man Cork win ! Great attitude shown by Cork.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,415 ✭✭✭The White Feather

As I thought, our subs made the difference. Way too close for comfort though.

We looked a bit rusty throughout so I think this game will get us going again. Lot of strange wides from guys you would expect to score that you would have to say it must be the break.

Enjoying the Shane Barrett goal over and over again....

Damien Cahalane will still be out next week but Eoin Cadogan is rated 50-50 to be available next week by Kieran Kingston

Pity Cahalane will be out the next day. TOM must be pushed to midfield and Fitzgibbon who was poor today to Centre Forward.

Downey was exceptional so no chance for Cadogan starting.

i have to put my hand up and say I predicted a Clare win. I was wrong. However Kk is a lucky man Collins saved his management.

I was critical of Rob Downey playing full back. He was man of the match for me. Sean O D was close as well. All three of full backs did well Mellerick playing there surprised me. He is a great prospect.

Niall O Leary was excellent first half on Kelly. Should have been taken off him in the second whenkelly caused havoc.

Coleman was quite today. I think his confidence is a bit low. He not the player of a year or 2 ago.

TOM will be around a long time. The strong and more experience he gets will make him a serious contender for player of the year in a few years (hopefully as a midfielder)

Fizy and Luke M were in and out of the game but didn’t get beaten up either. Midfield did lose an awful amount of breaking ball from puc outs. Clare had a extra man joining the break down as the ball was landing and won a lot of the 50/50 fight for position.

Hoggie started off like a man possessed. His man did get on top as the game went on.

Robbie O F also went missing for long periods. Missed a few bad point that were very scoreable. I have a feeling he is not 100% fit. He didn’t break the line with pace like he usually does.

Shamy was a surprise MOTM for me. While he was in a lot of ball he waisted a lot. He did have a huge influence on the game. Setting up goals and getting frees when needed.

Kingston is Kingston. He won’t get 20 touches a game but always comes up with 1-2ish. He does need to contribute More for me.

Jack is the new Joe Deane only with lightening pace.

Barrett and Connoly did well when they came on. I thought Connoly should have been on 10 min earlier. We struggle around the middle of the second half.

Management did very well but need improvement. The mess up with the time before the game is under 12s we are lucky it didn’t impact our start of the game.

My over all judgment on the match is 7/10. Besides the fullback line improvement is needed to progress. Over happy to be in the draw Monday.

On a final note sky sport camera work is terrible. I know I’m usually at the games but it was very hard so see where the ball was at times and if there was a block or hook I couldn’t tell half the time. Finally the Clare bias from from commentators and pundits besides JJ was off the scale. Not a mention of Hoggies wonder point off his knees if Kelly scored that they would want to give him his all star today which I think he will get (undeserving) even though they lost 2 games and didn’t make a 1/4

  • Registered Users Posts: 538 ✭✭✭Corcaigh84

Completely agree re the Clare bias, it was hard to listen to at times. We could have a Hoggie highlight reel off his knees alone at this stage. There have been a few Cork 'maestros' but Hoggie is certainly one of them.

    Cork team for tomorrow!!

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,415 ✭✭✭The White Feather

So, it turns out we were ready for ye too 😉

But no, that was a close game and Clare could have won at the end. Have to admire Clare's fighting spirit as ye never give up

  • Registered Users Posts: 97 ✭✭prishtinaboy99

The problem midfield today fitzy didn’t have a great game but he always shows up at some stage, Meade only works as a third midfielder, cannot play the traditional midfielder. We got to start Barrett and Connolly the next day, there’s plenty to come off the bench to do damage. I would leave Kingston on the bench too by bringing Fitzy centreforward but can’t see the management making changes in three lines but we will have to be better than today even if today was a step in the right direction.

it took guts to stop clares momentum in the second half and the younger lads will have learned a lot particularly game management going down to 13 men

Coleman at 6 is not really working or teams are playing around him perhaps, ideally he would be midfield but that won’t happen this year.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,782 ✭✭✭windy shepard henderson

well done today lads , tide looks like its turning best of luck for the year ahead ...boi 👍️

  • Registered Users Posts: 213 ✭✭Pos087

I would love to see TOM in midfield with Colman, have Meade or O Flynn third midfielder half forwards of Harnedy Barrett and Fitz. Half back of Melerick Eoin Cad and Downey. Damo Niall O L and Sean O D fullback with Hoggie and jack full forward.

Anyone else have a preferred team

  • Registered Users Posts: 97 ✭✭prishtinaboy99

I can see that midfield next year as some serious half back prospects from the U20s coming through. With Cahalane out the next day I don’t see them pushing TOM to midfield.

Problem with Downey was the management kept moving him around affecting his confidence so don’t think they will change him now, will be interesting to see how he handles quicker opponents and shanagher suited Downey.

O Flynn is off form so do you take a chance on him the next day, it would be madness not to start Connolly and Barrett and they seem to have a great understanding those two with each other.Connolly has a swagger and style about him like he’s made for the big stage.

I think we need to create more space for JOC and dragging a forward out to midfield makes that space. We struggled today and Clare overran us with 3 midfield. Meade is a great link man in a 3, but they would be better playing him in a defensive role and letting fitzgibbon attack but seemed the opposite today.

Deasy is one player able to win dirty ball so an option too for half forward line as we can’t rely on Harnedy every game to win and break ball.

We nearly let a six point lead slip (although being down to thirteen men didn't help), but in a knock out game it's all about the winning and win it we did. Anthony Daly regularly likes to question this Cork teams bottle, but we had enough bottle to send his Clare team packing yesterday.😁

They beat us in that 2013 all Ireland final, but apart from that and that Munster championship game in 2019, Clares last win against us in the championship was back in 1998. So Clare have only beaten Cork twice, in the past 23 years in the championship.😁

It will be asking a lot to win the all Ireland, but we have the potential to get to the last four at the very least, and have a proper crack at Limerick or Kilkenny. Anyway hopefully the footballers put in a big performance in Killarney later on. Kerry will be favourites, but hopefully we'll cause an upset. It's been too long since our last win in Killarney.
