Dublin City Marathon 29 Oct 2017 - *** NOTE: no number transfer!

Good luck to all those running on Sunday. This time last year I was preparing for my first marathon and it was absolutely incredible. If its your first time doing it or if you have done it before enjoy every step of it. It gave me a love of Dublin that I don't think I have had before.

Remember every ones marathon is personal to them, so a time you may not be happy with, to someone else you are a superstar and you definitely a superstar to the people on the side of the road.

Enjoy your run, high 5 as many children as possible, get around safely, enjoy the celebrations however you decide to celebrate and next week write a deadly race report, that I will look forward to reading.

Worked the Expo today just inside the registration door.

Anyone who hasn't picked up your stuff, a word of advice if you want to save time in the queue: have your acceptance form signed and ID in your hand. You'll be asked to do this inside the door - I was doing it all day.

The amount of people who didn't have their form, said they had it signed but didn't and then had to sign it at the reg desks was huge. Also those that had no ID with them was amazing. This holds you up and everyone else too. It was fairly quiet today so tomorrow will be fairly busy.

If you have your acceptance slip on your phone, have it ready and open. It makes everyone's time in the busiest part of the expo much quicker and all the volunteers' day much nicer. Thanks

Oh god, noticed something gross this morning...!

First marathon tomorrow and I saw that half my big toenail is detached from the nail bed from running the half in shoes that were too small for me. It’s not painful at all, but I did think I was getting an ingrown toenail a couple of weeks back.

I’m freaking out, what do I do?? Just put a big plaster around the toe and hope it doesn’t get disturbed too much tomorrow? The shoes I have for tomorrow are my normal, perfectly sized ones!

Firstly, it's nothing to get stressed about. Many people lose toenails in the run up to and during the marathon. If it's pretty detached, perhaps go visit your GP this morning who may be able to remove it for you, but tell them you are running the marathon tomorrow, so no painful treatment. Otherwise, wear a pair of close fitting socks, to stop it from moving around during your race and don't be alarmed if you have to stop briefly during the race to remove it. Sure that's it - it'll be grand.

Tape it up, but be prepared to stop and remove it part way round as it will almost certainly fall off on the way.

Boots have these great little individual toe socks that fit snugly and will hold everything in place better than a plaster. They are brilliant and always work for me in this situation.

They are called 'Gel Toe End Cushion Caps'

Any info on the bag drop? Can’t find much detail online. Looks like it’s on merrion sq. I know you can only use the official bag, and no bags inside that. But does it close at a certain time?

It's on Merrion Sq south and is done numerically. I don't think it closes because the pick up is from the same spot, but you're better off getting there earlier rather than later especially if you are in one of the later waves. There's a bit of a walk to waves 2-4

Maybe this is a stupid question but why can’t they post out race numbers? As far as I can tell it’s just to get 20k people to trek out to the expo to get them to spend money. On a weekend where northside darts are cancelled.

I parked a 15 walk away to avoid the crazy €7 parking charge that someone else mentioned. Just walking back to my car now, traffic around here is absolutely mental, and for what? I had other stuff to do today and now just feel very frazzled!
