It was very cleverly done, she went into Meaghers earlier that day and bought stuff, but showed the bag and all the stuff she bought, she mentioned their name repeatedly. Then either side of the #sp stuff she showed the stuff again. So technically yes she wasnt being paid for the other stuff but she got their name mentioned about 10 times, showed the bag. All that adds to her relationship with the company, there was no need for her to mention where she had bought it.

She's a lot cleverer than people give her credit for and she definitely uses the looseness of the guidelines system to her advantage. She's not breaking the rules as such but she's not being 100% transparent.

I asked her how much the personal trainer was, and I got no reply, I'd guess she's getting it free, especially now she's wearing his branded clothes out and about, going to the cinema etc. So she gets free personal training, he gets loads of advertising.

    Yep, completely agree.

Its only after watching the snaps for a while that you realize how much stuff she's peddling be it because of freebies/sp/ad's etc.

Now when i hear the word "Meaghers" i tap on because it's all a load of product she's trying to promote and it's over kill aswell. 20+snaps pushing products onto people..jesus i wouldn't' spend that long looking at the ads on the tv!

I'd actually say there's f'all left in her blogging life thats not in some way linked to promotion, her daughter ha, that's about it!
And i feel like thats not right.

TMF, TSF, RC, SOSUE even Pippa peddle their own brands..be it all the time i can actually live with that as least i know this is a product you are trying to sell, not just something you "picked up at the weekend"…FOR FREE…TO BE PAID TO PROMOTE….drives me mad!

Finally after 3 years I'm going to unfollow Grace. Couldn't put up with her anymore.

She was going to pop in and have a look at a Meaghers store blah blah while she was in town and she wanted to pick up some products and do a haul. Fast forward till she get to the shop, all #ad. She sooke about doing a haul tonight , can you even call it a haul when the company are going you the products to promote ?

I bet anything in the next few days she will receive a her clutter box. She made sure to show it off and say she would love a big one as she already had the small one.

She also spoke about that she is now a member of the Re-style rewards club so I'm sure she will be posting all sorts of rubbish just to gain money. No more penny's or zara postings as she can't make money out of them. I expect a few asos or river island wish lists to pop up soon!

Grace has mentioned on several occasions she works with Meaghers so that Snapchat story didn't come as a surprise but if she popped into a random shop she hadn't mentioned working with, and then put #ad or #sp on each Snap I think I'd be annoyed.

I do think she's in cahoots with B2B Fitness without mentioning it because Sean is getting a lot of coverage lately and Grace happened to mention he was now doing an online programme.

I didn't like when Sean then said we should be eating 2000cals to lose weight.
    Wtf?

    I wouldn't lose weight on 2000cals: I'd maintain!
    Is this fella qualified?

I honestly will never set foot in Meaghers, or Bella Baby as I am sick to death of hearing about them.

    I don't think I've ever seen a Meaghers pharmacy!

the moment she started talking about popping into the shop to have a look around all innocently, she should have #ad.

Bloggers etc bang on about not having to #ad things if they aren't being paid by the company for that exact snap. Grace has a relationship with that company yes but she has said herself before that not everything is an #ad when she mentions them.

So if she was going to a "meeting" and not being paid to discuss the meeting on snapchat then grand, but her later snaps clearly showed that it was one big set up and she was only there as she was being paid to be there. My point is, she could have had the "meeting" over the phone with them, this was a paid job. So she should have #ad it.

I think he was talking about a regular females average daily intake should be 2,000 calories, not someone on a diet. Could be wrong though. This is defo an ad on her behalf, or technically not an ad but its for free. Today was the first time she mentioned online coaching. I'd say her and the boyfriend get their PT for free.

I don't follow Grace, but did she not do a Meaghers haul over the weekend as per the posts on this thread yesterday?

I don't believe for a second that she's a normal paying client of Sean's. It's relentless and beyond boring. Between Sean and Meaghers I'm on the brink of unfollowing her (again)! Have had a major clear out on Snapchat and I feel like she's next for the cull.

I don't know if this has been posted before, maybe on one of the old threads, but it's a really informative Q&A with the ASAI all about bloggers and ad disclosure...

18 Blogger Questions Answered by the Advertising Standards Authority of Ireland

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,642 ✭✭✭✭wolfmoon87

"17. Say I’ve affiliate links in my blog – so when people read what I’ve written about a product, click into the link and buy something, I could earn a commission – where or what do I have to disclose on my blog?
This should be declared in the same area as the links. Also if it’s possible to click directly through from a post to purchase the product, then it should be made clear in the post/blog/etc. that there is a commercial arrangement."

I'm going to report any ones that see not declaring affiliate links. I see it ALL the time!

Bloody hell Grace giving the sponsored tour around blogger chemist was the nail in the coffin for me.
    Deleted.

She mentioned today she is planning a re-brand. I am curious as to what she is re-branding as? Mommy blogger, Lifestyle blogger etc. Can't imagine it will solely beauty as she includes pretty much everything now so it will be interesting to see.

I do wish her the best with it because I think a lot of people have lost trust in her (and others, but she was the one highlighted in the media to my knowledge) about #ad, #spon etc. so if she can change her ways and become fully transparent I think she could do quite well if people felt they could trust her and what she says.

It would take a lot and take a long time as so many have lost trust in her though.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 383 ✭✭Lindy97

She's always maintained she has always been transparent though, so she didn't think she was doing anything wrong, and given that she was crying on snapchat about people being mean over the whole ASAI thing, looks like once again its everyone's fault but hers which from the length of time I followed her, is how she's been. The Meagher's tour proves to me she has no intention of changing. That should have been # the minute she mentioned the brand, but she did it earlier in the week too, only # a particular product but talked about Meaghers for a good 5 minutes.

Wolfmoon, thanks for posting that! The amount of people I see saying, "no cash means they don't have to #" is so annoying. Its not as black and white as that as you've pointed out. And also that when they get something/get a service free they need to disclose it, which a lot don't. I can think of at least 20 examples.
There's also the ones that mislead followers into thinking they paid for it, by showing web links to the product etc. (coughGRACEcough) and never actually say they got it free.
and she wonders why people say she's not honest...

Her Snapchat is one long ad anything she can get paid for or anything she can get for free ..
She is promoting that lad Sean's business with no #ad no wonder she's always being reported to the Asai

Out of curiosity has anyone here that has reported somebody to the ASAI heard anything back other then the confirmation that they got the complaint?

    No only a confirmation letter.

That reached a new level last night, you could directly swipe up on her snaps to his website and talking about him having an online tool now...between that and daily snaps and wearing his hoodie/leggings even when not working out, how is that not advertising?
She used to do the same about Westpark, wore the hoodie everywhere but never went so they must have cut her off after realising she never went

I've written to ASAI 2 or 3 times and only ever received a confirmation letter back, I don't know if anything was ever followed up.
Can anyone tell me what Grace actually does these days? Honestly asking, because any time I watch her snaps, she is talking about Meaghers, snapping at someones wedding, or food shopping. Does she actually blog anymore, or create any content of note? This isn't meant to be snarky (I do find her boring though), I honestly have no idea if she has a blog anymore, or what area is meant to be her niche?

She's primarily a MUA but we never see her do makeup.
Sure she'll show products she uses but rarely do we see tutorials.

She seems to spend her time collaborating with just about anyone (Pippa said recently she'd never collab just for the sake of it; pity Grace doesn't take a leaf out of her book. Collaborating with too many companies cheapens you, I think); she also cooks for Sienna, plays with Sienna, goes for walks with Sienna, uploads eleventy million Snaps on her work-outs and talks us through her meals.

    Riveting, I know.

I see that Grace's Instagram says she is a travel blogger (among other things) which I hadn't noticed before. Maybe this is part of the rebrand?

She had a couple of trips to Spain (I think) recently but I wouldn't really think that qualifies as travelling.

God they're all travel bloggers now.... a trip to Ibiza or Marbella isn't exactly what I'd class as a travel blogger! One person i am very envious of at the moment is Terrie Mcevoy! Now thats what you call travelling!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 435 ✭✭Toastytoes

Grace is at it again on her FB page plugging a BPerfect event in Meaghers and not a sign of #ad?
It seems she will never learn. Can't post a screenshot from phone for some reason.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 436 ✭✭Ray37

IMO you can't really call yourself a travel blogger unless you are away on a trip at least once a month.... Hen parties in Spain don't exactly make you a travel blogger now...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 21,039 ✭✭✭✭retro:electro

Travel blogger me eye, does she even blog about the places she's been to? Snapping us from the bedroom of your 10 day resort stay does not a travel blogger make.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 436 ✭✭Ray37

I had to unfollow Terrie after 2 days, I was dying to see how she was getting on in Oz, I live abroad too, so was curious about her life etc. All I saw in the 2 days I followed was ad after ad, it was so dull. I don't get why people think their followers want to see their snapchats transformed into a rubbish version of QVC, if I want adverts 24/7, I'll stick on a shopping channel.

I think lots of them have lost sight of why they started blogging, now it's all about the freebies and paid endorsements, there is very little authenticity left in Irish blogging IMO. So many of the big names are ready to sell their soul for some crap free makeup and cars they can't seem to drive properly (I refer to one drink driving, and one driving on her provisional license, despite being a brand ambassador for a car brand). I feel so jaded, and so disappointed that something that I used to love has become so cheapened by selling out. I always feel for the smaller names who are honest and straight forward, I feel that the dishonesty and greed that's been seen lately is doing irreversible damage to the industry in Ireland.

Sure MUF was calling herself a travel blogger and going on about how she had so many flights in one year and it was all flights from Dublin to London....like come on missis!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,821 ✭✭✭fussyonion

Grace just got her nails done and posted a pic of herself holding the business card of the nail technician who did them.
I'm so cynical and wary of Grace now; did she get a freebie or is this another ad?
