Do they have to declare when it's an affiliate link? There's a huge increase in "just swipe up to shop my look" or that liketoknowit app. They get a small % from that so doesnt that count as paid and should be declared?
I've noticed that since this feature came in for snapchat, a lot of them now are saying "swipe up for the link". I clicked on one which went through rstyle (can't remember who this was for).

ok i just watched those snaps and OMG she is totally trying to hide the #ad, it's completely hidden behind her name you would NEVER see it.
So sly…100% she knew exactly what she was doing there!

I hope more viewers notice this and report it as misleading.

She needs a serious dose of "cop yourself on" now, it's getting worse by the week!
Wonder when the next round of tears will commence now...

I'm going to screenshot it and report it too, fed up with her

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 383 ✭✭Lindy97

I reported her last week for the Meaghers bag in the background of a hair tutorial, but mentioned also that she repeatedly mentions them and shows products/links to their website but only declares #ad about 10% of the time.
I get she might only be getting paid cash for plugging that particular product but there HAS to be an unwritten agreement between them, hard to prove I know but she needs a serious wake up call. She did a tour of their Barrow Street branch last week ffs!

There's never a word about anxiety now but if I was a betting girl, I'd put money on when the ASAI get onto her again it'll be back with a bang on snapchat

Someone wrote it up on that gals who snap group and most people are defending her. She can do no wrong it seems. What a snake . I never noticed the hashtags, so went back and had a look omg couldn't believe it.

I saw that and think it's mental!! There's so many defending FBG and completely missing the point. This is why she thinks she can get away with it!

From what I can see a lot of those ladies are bloggers/wannabe influencers themselves. At the end of the day everyones entitled to their opinion but there's requirements in place and grace is not complying, that's the long and the short of it. It's not unreasonable to feel duped by her. That doesn't mean you're wrong for "not giving the girl a break". If she declared and wasn't sneaky there'd be no issue, simple as

How on earth can you defend that? Mental.

Oh that forum is not the place to criticise anything a blogger does, like Lexie says. The majority will hop off you.
I don't get it. They call her a businesswoman and cheer her success when it suits but when she doesn't stick to the rules or tries to get about them, then it's leave the poor girl alone, she's only a normal girl sharing her life/you'd love all the free stuff too.

She's making a mint at this lark, and for that I do say "well done" but not at the expense of being dishonest. I treat these big name bloggers as I would a shop or a business, who also have to adhere to strict advertising regulations.
Granted the ASAI haven't much power but the rules are still there and she flaunts them repeatedly, the one time she was called out publicly, she went on snapchat crying about it triggering her anxiety (something she does whenever she effs up and it's her fault).

Those snaps were actually shameless. The #sp wasn't even white, it was a greyish colour to blend in to the background and not stand out against the other white text. Can she be reported for that? It's supposed to be clear to viewers or readers when something is an ad, those snaps were definitely not making it clear. You'd barely see it.

The post was obviously approved for the drama. It looked like one of the admin was sticking the oer in over the original posters opinion which was a bit odd.

I actually can't believe so many defending her. That's why she gets away with it all

I'm a bit shocked at the number attacking the poster for it, including admin.
A few saying it's not hidden on their versions of snapchat/phones. Fair enough but to put it top right corner where most people don't look and also have it a light grey colour, how can you deny she's tried to pull a fast one? Even if you dont care you have to admit, it's not in the most visable place...

Any chance of a link on here or by PM to that group?

I can't understand how people can defend Grace on this one. She clearly knows exactly what she's doing.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 58,456 ✭✭✭✭ibarelycare

The admins are blatantly trying to push that group way more pro-blogger lately, simply because both of them are trying to establish themselves as bloggers/influencers/snapchatters. There's been enough drama surrounding them, they're probably trying to make themselves look as favourable as possible in the eyes of the blogging world. There are a few bloggers in particular who are seemingly untouchable in that group....as soon as anything negative is said against them the masses are out in force defending them. The usual "if you don't like her don't follow" and "the poor girl"... gimme a break! She knows exactly what she's doing!

If Rosie is the brand ambassador does that not have to be classed as an ad? She got her new car today and is showing it off. Not showing off in a wow look way, I mean like the inside and outside of the car etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 383 ✭✭Lindy97

As far as I know they do still need to declare it, being a brand ambassador doesn't mean anything in terms of not #ad but I could be totally wrong. A few bloggers have been car brand ambassador's over the past 2 years, not sure if any of them declared it.

A girl I work with just snapped her and asked her this (I can't as I am blocked :pac: )
Rosie replied and said she doesn't need to #ad as she isn't being paid by Renault.
    Hmm.

    Why are you blocked?

She blocked me about a year ago because she was flaunting a cleanser and saying how fab it was after one use. I just said do you not think you should try it more than once before you declare how fab it is and reccomend it to all your followers? Things can change and reactions can happen after 24hrs. She snapped me back and told me how dare I tell her how to do her job and that I was getting blocked.
I posted about it here at the time and shared the screenshots. I was very polite to her and her reaction was way OTT. Rosemary Mac Cabe posted here at the time and saw them and posted them on her Facebook page (but didn't name Rosie).
Everyone was naming Rosie in the comments and then Rosie contacted Rosemary and asked her to take it down.

I've actually had enough of grace now. Just took screenshots and am lodging a complaint to the ASAI.

My sister follows her too and I mentioned it to her and she said she hadn't noticed how slyly places the #sp was. She is actually taking the p*** now.

The admin sees herself as a wannabe blogger that's why she got involved she should stay impartial and just monitor if any comments get out of hand

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 383 ✭✭Lindy97

I don't get why comments were switched off? The admin was speaking as though she sits there and monitors every comment on every thread, and she couldn't leave even though she had things to do. Like unless something gets flagged, that's totally unnecessary.

I do agree with some of the comments however, about making a formal complaint about it. There is zero point in complaining on here or on Facebook or wherever if you're not going to go the formal route. It takes like 5 minutes

Just watched FBG and she had majority of #sp hid behind her name in the corner.

I don't follow her so I haven't seen the snaps in question. However going by posts on this thread it sounds like while she's technically declaring if something is sponsored or paid to cover her ass, she seems to have gone though some effort to make it as least obvious as possible. On my version of snapchat it automatically makes the text white in a dark grey background band, if I want to change to colour, size or position of text I have to go through a bit of time and effort. Point I'm trying to make is that by apparently making the text smaller, less obvious against the background or hidden behind other text is a concerted effort to mislead viewers.

I remember someone else on either snapchat or instragram placing the #ad at the bottom centre behind the chat swipe up or message facility!

I think that was Grace as well. The ad was for Dolce and Gabanna light blue perfume.

Exactly what is the worst the ASAI can do to someone like Grace who is regularly flaunting the rules?

They'll do absolutely nothing. It's pointless. The only way to overcome this is to unfollow. If her numbers go down enough then she might start copping on.

Although they don't have much clout, you'd hope that any reputable brands would be taking note of the bad publicity around her behaviour and being repeatedly called out by ASAI, and avoid working with her. Hitting her in the pocket. That may be expecting too much from the brands that are relying on these "bloggers" to flog their wares tho!

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Grace is by far the WORST for this kind of thing. She knows well what she's at, and I actually feel sorry for all of the 'oh poor Grace'ers who actually fall for her playing dumb. The honestly havent a clue how sneaky and dishonest she is. I have screenshotted the snap, and it is being sent to ASAI today.
