Deffo free, at this point I feel like the only thing she actually pays for herself is her groceries, which she shows 473726462383 times per week....

    Does getting paid with a One4All card count as #ad / #sp?

I think a voucher or gift card would just be like any other freebie, so no #ad needed (unless it is actually an ad).

yeah I don't think it is unless you're receiving it for say giving a positive review or the person/company is directing you what to say on the product or service

But if you are receiving the One4All card in return for promoting?

One4All have a thing going on where if you use your gift card this week at approved retailers One4All will donate funds towards Crumlin. Some bloggers have been given a One4Allcard to buy something for a child in hospital and in exchange for their time they are being given a One4All card themselves for doing this and for promoting it on social media.

God forbid they promote a charity for free, lots of sports stars give up their time (I know this for a fact) for no fee and some actors (Irish ones I mean are the ones I've worked with). Some have fees, but Ive never worked with any of them.

Even if it's a voucher, that's payment from a charity. I don't think this would be considered an ad in the eyes of the ASAI but I could be wrong. More like a freebie or a thank you.

With regards to the #ad, does it have to be in the main caption of the photo? I've noticed one blogger putting the #ad among a load of other hashtags in the comments, but not on the main post itself. I think it is misleading but not sure what the ASAI stance on that is.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 856 ✭✭✭idunno78

I think it has to be in the main title of a blog post/video or At least in the opening sentence. As in you should know it's an ad before reading the post/watching video! Not sure about Instagram which I'm guessing your on about?

Do you ever see when Grace decides to do it, its mostly down the bottom left on snapchat in the smallest text possible, you would even miss it if you were not looking?

Yeah it's Instagram I'm on about. It's a bit shady putting it in the comments. I know she's #ad, but it's as if she's out to mislead people into thinking she genuinely loves the products, and doesn't just love them cos the brand is paying her. Said blogger is also hosting a workshop on how to blog, which includes a piece on ASAI guidelines.. :D

THIS!!!! Or when they'd put the #ad underneath the chat sign so you wouldn't know it was there at all! I copped SoSueMe doing it first, really annoyed me.
Another blogger was called out on it, can't for the life of me remember who it was. But they went "oh someone just snapped me saying they couldn't see the #ad under the chat sign, whoops that was an accident, didn't mean to put it there"

I have to say fair play to the bloggers who have posted links for the much hyped up Urban Decay Heat palette on snapchat and instagram and actually disclosed that they were affiliate links. It's doesn't detract from the picture or post, can be clearly seen, doesn't look to have required too much effort and looks professional - that's how it should be done!

Yeah I saw that Karen lovelygirlybits used #affiliatelink on Snapchat. Were there any others who disclosed?

Grace Snapped that palette earlier but made no mention of it being affiliated.
She just said it was available in UD, Grafton St.

I see Sienna was sent more presents today and Grace was gifted a basket of junk food.

I've said it before and I'll say it again; with the amount of gifts these bloggers are given they should really consider donating some or running a comp. It feels like they're showing off that they were sent stuff and us 'plebs' are meant to be impressed.

Fair play to Karen from lovelygirlybits, she seems to be one of the most transparent out there.

I think it definitely helps that even as a relatively well known one, she still works full time and the blogging is a hobby... She clearly doesn't just see her social media as a means to make money

Yes Karen from Lovely Girlie Bits disclosed an affiliate link, as did Gemma from Beautynook. I think they deserve the shoutout - they do things right IMO and work hard.

She has said that, yes, but she also hasn't taken on every random collaboration like other bloggers *just* to make more of an income from it either. Whether that is because she isn't being offered the same #ad opportunities or whether she is being very careful about what/who she does work with I don't know but at least if it did ever become a full time thing then at least I would still trust her recommendations etc, that they aren't just for the payment.

Just followed lovelygirlybits and I love her already. So normal, it's refreshing! What's her story? What does she make a living doing if not blogging?

She doesn't disclose what she does for a living. And rightly so, she's right to keep parts of her life private, it's no-one else's business but her own. (sorry I'm not snapping at you Rmgblue, I just can respect and appreciate when people don't make their blog all about them but rather about their topic of blogging, makeup, fashion, food, fitness, etc and want to keep some parts of their life private)

She used to talk about her job a lot doesn't she work in a hospital as a receptionist or something like that think it was a private one

I ageee it's right to keep parts of your life private, very private myself! I guess I just felt like I wanted to know her story, not to pass judgement or anything, I just like when I can relate to someone! That's all.

Suppose what I would describe her as is a regular girl who has a full time job that isn't blogging, seems to have a lovely family and seems very close to them and adores her little dog. She seems to buy a lot of products herself and what I like is the products she loves she constantly uses. Very down to earth and normal and just so likeable and relatable.

Just saw an article on ASAI complaints and they say that adjudications on current cases will be done by August if anyone is interested.

Im sorry but can we talk about FacesbyGrace announcement that shes taking over Meaghers snapchat (no #ad) then doing a totally unrelated hair demo with a MASSIVE Meaghers bag behind her the entire time.

You have to laugh at this stage😂😂😂😂
