A little bit too late for most current projects

Weird, seems to be gone now. I wonder is it going to be a shuttle between the Guinness Storehouse and Heuston? It's only an 11 minute walk according to google though.

Sorry I missed the entire thread on the O Trial, that would make a lot more sense!

Firstly the route won’t be going to GAI, and that phase won’t happen until the D-Spine happens, possibly late next year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,041 ✭✭✭✭cgcsb

Is there still a hope of E Spine in November? I seen there's new bus stops but it has all gone quiet.

The 24th of November date has not changed.

You're not going to hear anything until closer to the time, just like it was before the N2 being launched.

several of the Wicklow TDs have been on FB flagging up the changes, so they've definitely been told it's November.

I wonder is it the replacement bus for the 104, number 8 I think. City to Beaumont via Clontarf operated by GAI.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,790 ✭✭✭✭LXFlyer

I suspect that will also be a Dublin Bus route - it’ll be replacing the northside half of the 14 too.

Again none of them will happen until late next year.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,041 ✭✭✭✭cgcsb

This will be interesting. The E is the first spine that is genuinely cross city. The C obviously has a short section east of the city centre. Hopefully the O won't be too far behind.

There's rumours the E spine will not be going ahead until 2025. Just the L1, L2, L3 etc. Ian McGahon Bray West Labour rep was commenting on Bray Open Forum Facebook about this and when I asked him where he got his information from he sent me the transcript to a recent Wicklow County Council meeting with NTA CEO Anne Graham and Hugh Creegan answering questions and it's vaguely suggested that it will be rolling out in 2025.

Why? There's very little that actually needs to change to convert the current routes to the E-spine, so why would it be delayed even further?

    • E1 takes over the 145 (every 10 minutes) and the 155 (every 20 minutes)
    • E2 takes over the 46a (every 8 minutes)

Or is the issue trying to sort out the northside and the peak vehicle requirement, since the northside 4/9/11/13 have to be reshuffled?

Are there any bus corridor improvements proposed along the E Spine?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,526 ✭✭✭p_haugh

Not as part of the incoming network changes. On the infrastructure side of things, the Ballymun CBC corridor and Bray CBC corridor will bring improvements. The Ballymun corridor has planning permission as far as I recall, but the planning permission application for the Bray corridor has yet to be submitted.

The core bus corridors (infrastructure) and the network changes are being implemented completely independently of one another.

Took the N2 this morning. Very handy for getting to stoneybatter from malahide Rd on one bus.

Probably something to do with the fact that Dublin Bus doesn't have enough drivers to guarantee that it'll be an immediate success.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,464 ✭✭✭VonLuck

Yes, I'm aware. I was just wondering whether there were future proposed infrastructure works along this spine. But p_haugh has cleared this up. Thanks.

The planning applications for all of the 12 corridors schemes have been submitted to ABP.

The Bray Scheme has yet to be decided upon by ABP.

Ah sorry yes, forgot the bray scheme had been submitted

The planning application for the Bray to City Centre CBC was submitted last year.

I did see the planning notice for it signposted near the pedestrian underpass in Patrician Villas in Stillorgan.

BTW Interestingly they seem to be replacing the bus stops on the Swords Road and also doing other works, like redoing some of the footpaths. Some what surprised to see this happening ahead of the BusConnects Swords Corridor infrastructure works which I'd assume will redo these again!

    Supposedly

Dublin Bus and Go Ahead seem to be telling people all the E1 and most of the Bray routes are starting on 24th November. NTA is saying next year.

It was so much easier to blame it on Them. It was bleakly depressing to think that They were Us. If it was Them, then nothing was anyone's fault. If it was us, what did that make Me? After all, I'm one of Us. I must be. I've certainly never thought of myself as one of Them. No one ever thinks of themselves as one of Them. We're always one of Us. It's Them that do the bad things.

Ann Graham does seem to have said E1 not hsppening until 2025. I half suspect (reading from what Ann Graham, NTA told Wicklow Co Co) this may be what's happening

    Phase 6b will be L1, L2, L3, X1, X2

    Phase 6c will be E1, L12, L14 , L15

And part of the reason behind having a phase 6c is because of all the Bray DART station works (even though it wouldn't affect E1)

E1 won't be an orbital route.

Orbital routes are those that don't serve the city centre in its routing . These routes start with N W or S

The only 24 hour orbital route is the N4 (although there are questions asked is Spencer dock not city centre? In general the N4 routing is orbital )

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 18,790 ✭✭✭✭LXFlyer

    I said southside orbitals, i.e. the S2, S4, S6 or S8.

Has Anne Graham gone to Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council as to what is happening with the E2, L26 & L27 in Dun Laoghaire & Blackrock?

If these routes are meant to be implemented in either Phase 6b or 6c. I am not sure whether she would state to the council that there could be a delay with rolling out the E-Spine in these areas if the implementation of the L26 is delayed in Blackrock with all of the planned works to be done there under the 'Living streets Blackrock' scheme. Although it could be me being confused about which phase of the project is supposed to begin first in Blackrock as we go through the rest of the year and the beginning of next year.

However the changes occurring under 'Living Streets Dun Laoghaire' could be a little more challenging because the routes in Dún Laoghaire are being covered under the E & B Spine. There were proposals in there to have new bus stops installed outside the entrance to the ferry terminal as well as the Dart Station. I wonder is that part of the project delayed or still going ahead as planned?
