The protective cases don't fully cover top and bottom, but do they at least give reasonable cover for the corners?

I have the bumper one. Doesn't add a lot of bulk and is slightly raised at the edges so gives good protection. The only bad point is it is hard to use the switch on the side to turn off the sound.
Very happy with the phone so far. Ordered it yesterday morning and got it at lunchtime today. It's very fast. It is my first phone with fast charging, very impressed with how fast that is too.

You got the phone in less than 24 hours? That is seriously impressive!!

29 hours. Ordered it at 8am yesterday and got it at about 1 today. A big difference from the hassle I had ordering a 1+1 back in the days of the invite system

Ordered accessories yesterday at 10am and it was delivered this morning at 9.17am :pac:

Got an ebony case, excellent feel to it just about covers the corners. I'd be interested to see a drop test with it on.... Not mine though! Gives a decent amount of grip too and it's as thin and light as a feather.

Next was a spare dash charger and long dash cable. Always handy to have a second one.

Got the bullet earphones too. Very impressive! Fit nicely and do a bit of noise cancellation due to the fit of them in my ears anyway.

Lastly I got the grey messenger bag, just because. Cool bag, plenty of zips and pockets. Not as good as my timbuk2 bags but not far off.

Have people been using Priority shipping or just going with standard?

Just pulled the trigger there, was offered Priority shipping for €9.99, thought 'feck it, YOLO'. Estimated dispatch is 30 June, estimated delivery 5 July. Hopefully will be a bit quicker than that, judging by feedback in the thread above. Would be pretty excited to have the weekend to set it up and play with it, and horse my HTC10 into CEX.

My OP2 is worth €120 from CEX so I might hang onto it as a back up.

When I ordered yesterday it said the expected delivery date was July 4th and I got out today.

Just ordered the 128GB now with a sandstone case, screen protector and car charger.

Should be a big upgrade over my OP2 :)

Does the sandstone one make it feel like sand paper, like it did on the 1+1? :D

Reading on the official forum that 4.5.4 was pushed, but it's just an update for NL users who are having issues connecting to 4G :)

Did you get the 'protective case' or the 'bumper case'?

I got the protective case with the welcome pack which is very neat. It adds very little bulk to the phone and makes it quite grippy but although it provides protection at the corners I don't think it would prevent a screen break if the phone fell onto a hard floor so I'm thinking of getting the bumper case.

I assume the bumper case will provide better protection against falls, why else would they make both a protective and a bumper case??

The official Karbon bumper case seems to make the notification slider hard to access/operate, so I think I'll wait and see what the usual suspects like Spigen come out with. Diztronic do particularly nice, well-fitted and relatively inexpensive tpu cases with full bumper coverage, hopefully they'll have their usual fare available for the OP5 shortly.

Lads , just want to ask a noob question here if you dont mind.

Have been looking the last few months about changing my phone, have had samsungs and the apple and the likes before

Current phone is a galaxy S4 which i got from new but i would like an upgrade and have been seriously considering a one plus. Was looking a few weeks ago at a 3T midnight edition but then caught wind that the 5 was coming shortly so i waited.

From history this price tag looks a bit steep compared to previous, but im very interested in the OP5 with the welcome pack i suppose (extra dash charger, bullets etc.)

Does anyone have an idea if i were to wait a for more months would the price of the 5 drop at all ? Or maybe like the 3 and 3t coming after there would be a 5T on the line shortly ?

Ive no interest paying a mad amount of money for a samsung to be honest, i think those days are over.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,662 ✭✭✭marcbrophy

The 3T only exists because they could not source a part for the 3.
The only differences is the change to an 821 Snapdragon from an 820 and an increased battery to 3400mAh from 3000 mAh.

There will most likely not be a 5T.

Also, if there was a price drop, I don't see it happening until Feb or March of next year :)

I don't think the 3 or 3T dropped in price at all but I could be wrong.

Use one of the referral links above and you'll get €20 off accessories bought with a phone if that's any use? Not sure if they work on bundles though.

That's interesting, was it the chipset, or something else?

Yeah, I remember reading at the time that it Qualcomms fault. :)

Oh, and I forgot the most important difference between the 3 and 3T!
    A better "selfie" camera from 8MP to 16MP :D

Did they give a tracking number for their shipping agent? Mine is showing as 'dispatched', but that's all the info I can see.

Yeah it should be down at the bottom of your order page - it'll be a white, almost invisible button to the left of the red button down there. Mine came via UPS but there was no info there until the package actually was picked up and began moving.

My order displayed as dispatched also but I had to ask them on the live chat for the UPS tracking number. Maybe try that?

Anyone have issues with Sky Go?

I installed it, logged in but I get a black screen with sound when trying to view?
