Thanks. Sky Go app version 5.2.1.8 works.
Download it from apkmirror, install and turn off auto updates until there is a proper fix

Lads are you finding the battery better in real terms than the one plus 3?

Sorry folks, thread is too big to skim. Does the fast charger not come with this as standard? I see it's an add-on on the website. What comes in the box?

Can't compare it to the OP3 but I'm finding the battery performance unreal. I was is in meetings yesterday so just using the phone intermittently to check emails etc and make a few calls and couldn't believe that it still had in excess of 70% battery when I got in my car to go home around 5pm. It really seems to be optimised very well.

Also can't compare to 3T but charged to 100% at midnight on Tuesday, had probably above average usage for me yesterday and it was still at 38% this morning. Quite happy with it. Was back up to 98% after 40 minutes or so of Dash charge

Lads , just want to ask a noob question here if you dont mind.

Have been looking the last few months about changing my phone, have had samsungs and the apple and the likes before

Current phone is a galaxy S4 which i got from new but i would like an upgrade and have been seriously considering a one plus. Was looking a few weeks ago at a 3T midnight edition but then caught wind that the 5 was coming shortly so i waited.

From history this price tag looks a bit steep compared to previous, but im very interested in the OP5 with the welcome pack i suppose (extra dash charger, bullets etc.)

Does anyone have an idea if i were to wait a for more months would the price of the 5 drop at all ? Or maybe like the 3 and 3t coming after there would be a 5T on the line shortly ?

Ive no interest paying a mad amount of money for a samsung to be honest, i think those days are over.

    My 2 cents:

The OP5 is just out, the price is unlikely to change until the next phone release. The 3T was an usual release, I wouldn't necessarily expect a 5T release.

Either way, the price is unlikely to drop until there is a new model on the horizon.

If price is your concern, then I think the 3T currently offers very good value and you wouldn't be sacrificing much (vs OP5) in terms of specs.

Is anyone having an issue with the volume rocker being loose? Mine has noticable up/down clicky movement without it being pressed down. I never had this issue when I had the HTC M7 or my previous phone which I still have, the HTC One M8.

I'm not sure if this is a hardware or assembly fault but it's already doing my head in after 3 days. It makes an otherwise amazing phone feel cheap.

No, mine seems solid so far

Hi folks went from a htc one to a one plus 5. Couldn't be happier.
Noticed it has Google cast built in as well which is a great feature. Thing is I like to watch Swiss tv (don't ask) but if I have tunnelbear on, Google cast won't work, any ways around this?

No movement here unless properly pressed.

If anyone's debating whether to pay the extra €10 for faster delivery, just pay it. Looking at how quickly other people have received their phones makes me regret not paying it.

Ordered mine on Tuesday morning and it's gone from Poland to Germany to Belgium... and there it sits.

Anyone who wants €20 off accessories can use the link below. It can be used more than once fyi.

Considering how fast this phone charges (very impressed with dash charge so far), I guess it's a bad idea to leave it on charge overnight? Will that impact the overall lifespan over the battery?

Just more of a fire risk, but I'd be interested to hear the answer to that.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 381 ✭✭pandabat

I'd imagine that the charging circuitry would be intelligent enough to stop charging when battery's full although it might occasionally re-engage as charge is used up. As Yop said, it'd be more a (low) fire risk from the phone charger being plugged in and it's costing you a (tiny) amount of money to leave the charger in doing nothing. From what I can see from my normal day-to-day usage, the phone would get more than enough charge if I just plug it in when I wake up and leave it do it's thing while I'm getting ready for work. Some people are very fast at that too though so ymmv :)

Anyone got issues connecting this to a Windows 10 laptop?

    Mine won't recognise it. Painful!

IIRC you have to go to the top of the phone and there's a "USB charging options" options in the drop-down notifications area. Select this and then select "Transfer files" and you should be ok. Phone screen also probably needs to be unlocked at time of connection for files to show correctly

EDIT: also make sure that your USB-C cable is fully-seated into the phone. I just remembered that I thought that mine was the first time I went to connect over USB but there were a few mm between the phone and the cable and had to push it a bit harder than I would have thought in order to click it fully into the phone.

    Ah yes, nice one.

Managed to sort it now. Phone is lightning fast, can't get over how quick the finger print opens the phone. It's like a bug it opens so fast!

Referral link for 20euro off accessories if anyone is thinking of buying one:

The OP5 is so much thinner than the OP2. It feels way better in hand than I thought it would.

Will have a proper test tonight once it's all set up.

Another quick post re the camera

    https://www.reddit.com/r/oneplus/comments/6jp0c0/oneplus_5_raw_vs_jpeg/

Gives hope that some of the smudgy, smeary image processing (that affects more background objects) may yet be improved further by software updates. Detail on the RAW images is great and shows potential of the camera at least.

Whatever they do, it doesn't have as good a sensor as some other flagships, so I wouldn't expect miracles.

Still find if very strange that they supposedly worked closely with DxOMark and they still don't have a score on there. HTC did similar, and announced the highest score ever when they launched the U11.
