386k applicants  London is great and all but i can't get over that

That's a massive number but it's a big jump too, was it not only about 250k last year?

Still have my PFO to look forward to so I'll be back for a moan when it arrives!

It's a no for me, no email yet ( there outbox must be full) but I just checked the real buzz site and it said entry not successful. Kinda relieved now to be honest.

Same here (on my overseas entry).

    Alternative? http://www.schneiderelectricparismarathon.com/en/

No rejection yet for me on the real buzz site or email. Just says Overseas Ballot Entrant for me. Dunno if that's good or bad yet

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,992 ✭✭✭ooter

When I go on to realbuzz it says "You have not entered any events."
I definitely entered the overseas ballot last May.

My rejection was in the entries section in red writing. In the purchases it says overseas ballot entry.

So it appears that all I need to do to get a ballot spot is get knocked up. I'm in again but will be deferring.

    Tis a no for me.

Might book Rome instead (already done Paris, Rotterdam and Barcelona spring marathons)

Enjoyed them all, but Barcelona was really good. Nice course, city and hearing Freddie Mercury blasting out 'Barcelona' at the start line was a memory for life. Was like a sightseeing tour!

Paris is so busy, its congested a lot of the way and Rotterdam is good for a PB as its so flat, but no a particularly memorable course.

Got it now, it seems to be Níl for me too.

I'll wait for the email to be 100%. Oh well, stupid marathon anyway!

Quick one, I got in as a GFA entry, paid and received email back then.

Should I be expecting a magazine and/or further email.

Will have to check the post box of my English address but out of town at the minute

If no email, check for a magazine. I'm on holiday in France at the moment and just saw the email when I checked at around midday local time.

If memory serves me right about 1400 sharing with someone. I might be wrong in that but just remember looking at it and saying no thanks.

Just as well I didn't want to do their poxy marathon anyway!  (Picture scenes of chairs being pushed over followed by me crying in the corner!)

Congrats to anyone lucky enough to get in though (someone did get in didn't they?), be sure to enjoy it.

I bought my way in two years ago through an operator. Found them quite good. I think it was just over €1000 (I could be wrong) including flights and I had a single room.

The tour included two nights in a decent central hotel (booking if I got the ballot would have been more downmarket), flights from Dublin to Heathrow (or city if I wanted to), bus to the start line and race entry.

I'd love to go again but I'd only buy my way in once, just got yet another no on the ballot.

London 2019 it is. I'll go for the GFA and look to borrow old auntie Mary's address for a while.

Correction - just checked my e-mails from back then it was €1,200 (would have been €1,000 if I shared).

I'm probably going to be spending that much at least on the weekend in London, and that's with getting a place automatically. Admittedly I am staying an extra night than those packages, and it will be 1.5 extra non-runners going with me but still it makes it seem like a less daft option.
