Great night in Tallaght and a deserved win. Cork were average and we kept our best form till end of season and we got a couple of breaks for once in the play offs.

It's good to have games at RSC against all the big teams to look forward to next year. Hope we can hold on to most of the squad and add a couple more as Cork showed this year you have to strengthen squad when you go up or you'll be back in trouble.

Was a great night, brilliant atmosphere and us fans who have travelled to the last two playoff finals to be let down by team performance **** deserved it as much as anything else!

Said it to one of my friends up there when we were going to extra time, whatever happens we turned up tonight at least. Had our share of luck and missed plenty of great opportunities but we turned up for a change.

Cork were poor enough, and offered little when we got our noses in front resorting to pumping it long over and over again.

Fantastic effort from the lads, the management team and the fans who travel the length and breadth of the country, 9 playoff losses, 2 in the last 2 years and finally we got over the line.

Would expect a lot of changes, Coughlan might stick around bar getting a decent English offer, but not sure we will get the little magician Baggley on loan again. He made some difference when he returned from injury and has grown so much as a player over his time here.

Philips one pacedness will cost in the Prem I reckon but he's earned his shot if he wants to stay, he's been brilliant for us.

The little fellas were buzzin all the way home and still this morning, some difference to last year.

    Hon the Blues 💙

Was a great night on Friday. We outnumbered the Cork fans and the atmosphere was terrific.

Will be interesting to see if our jailed chairman will be able to back the club next season significantly enough for us to be competitive. Coughlan and Bagley only 2 of starting 11 who are Prem standard.

Football is a mad business. The role of the owners is maybe a bit overplayed when you consider that the likes of Man City can run so well when their owner has only attended two games in the last 15 years since they bought it.

However, there must a challenging in keeping two clubs going at the best of times. Potentially the most important thing for Waterford right now is that Fleetwood stay up in League One - as mad as that sounds. A dip in revenue arising from a relegation might impact negatively upon Waterford.

On the other hand, Waterford playing in the Premier might suit everyone better, particularly if they're looking to use the club as a development pathway to League 1 football (wouldn't another Phoenix be great). I see he had a goal and an assist for them at the weekend, and seems to be going from strength to strength.

But I think the feel good factor for Waterford is a great boost coming into the Christmas period and before pre-season starts next year. Hopefully they can tie down the players they need to and add a few others capable of driving things on further.

@Gardner but but I thought our season was over ages ago and we'd no chance of going up like you told us all?? You've shown time and time again you haven't a clue what you're talking about and rather than admitting how wrong you were you're still here with the big statements.

😂 Yet again having another pop at the players despite having one of the great nights of recent years. Jesus liven up boy, enjoy the game!

Giles, Sargent, Burke, all good enough for Premier from the first 11. Akachukw and emerging talent. Idowu could push on again next season.

Sum big names in for Romeo

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,049 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

Romeo can't go anywhere till the summer so he's fine and under contract, hopefully he continues to develop and we get a decent fee and sell on for him when his time comes. Scouts were over from Newcastle and West Ham for him during the season too, was talking to the scouts at the time.

Coughlan is more than likely gone imo, surely a team in England will take a chance on him, good age coming off a superb season. And fair play to him he deserves it he was a cut above everything else in the league.

Parsons under contract for another year I think. Keith Long said 10 players under contract for next season, taking the academy lads into account doesn't leave too many sorted so here's hoping we get some business done early to set the tone.

Yeah you'd have to expect Coughlan to leave tbf, someone will just offer more money especially in England, his girlfriend is from there too. Just a pity we can't get some sort of a fee for him.

    If he goes to Fleetwood.....well.......🤬

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,049 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

That's the real sickener yeah, to lose Coughlan for nothing.

Phoenix doing well at Fleetwood, wouldn't be surprised to see Ronan go the same place alright.

If Coughlan goes to Fleetwood you've got to accept the rough with the smooth.

Waterford were fortunate to have him in the first division and you couldn't begrudge him the chance to test himself at a higher level.

Players like Baggley wouldn't have ended up in Waterford without the Fleetwood connection.

You might fund that other talented young players might be interested in playing with Waterford if they can see a clear development pathway to England.

Sad to see a player go but apparently been told he's 'surplus'

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,049 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

Yeah a great lad off the field too but probably fair enough, I don't think he would quite cut it in the Premier Division and assume people are lined up which is a good thing.

Don't really get Cantwell being cut. We have few enough locals in the squad and I thought he was good whenever he played.

    But what do I know.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,049 ✭✭✭✭StringerBell

He wasn't getting in the team, and thats before the defence improves with additions - which we all better hope it does. He is limited on the ball, good in the air and a smashing guy off the pitch.

Could see him playing for Wexford next season.

Great result against cork and good to see the fans back on board after a couple of months of poor performances , dwindling crowds and a handful of kids in Block E.

If Coughlan and Baggley are gone for the new season life could be tough against the Premier league clubs.

The local lads power, Griffin, and o keeffe struggled this season in an average league, can't see it any easier for them at the higher level if the are kept on.

Hopefully we won't see a load of players on loan from Fleetwood and other English club, but will be good to watch the top sides back in the RSC.

The website is still shite would be my guess.

Was actually in the shop this morning talking to one of the lads, I think they will be the sole outlet to purchase jerseys this season also going by what they were saying.

So assume they will have a facility to purchase online after Christmas but wouldn't expect anything from them in that regard before that - website shop has always been **** from memory.

Hopefully some new signings will be announced, all we have to date is players re-signing, and to be honest these were part of the team that were miles behind Galway, so they really need to get quality in and soon, with the season just around the corner.
