Maybe if the capital was moved and more power given to the people who run cities, there would be less accusations of everything being Dublin centric.
Kilkenny as the halfway between Dublin and Cork, plus Kilkenny is a former capital of Ireland, only for Cromwell putting an end to that...

It really doesn't matter where the capital of the country is. Plenty of countries in the world have capitals that aren't the central hub for everything.

It's bad planning and foresight. Simple as. Why is Dublin the only place for jobs? Why should it be?

Dublin is competing against other European cities for these jobs. It's not competing against other Irish towns for the most part.

I saw a Prime Time special on rural Ireland a while back and it was filmed in Abbeyfeale. Councillors putting themselves on TV saying if only the next announcement of 70 jobs could be for Abbeyfeale instead of Dublin. These people are living in cloud cuckoo land

Why are they in cloud cuckoo land? While I'm no fan of Abbeyfeale, there are plenty of towns nearby (Tralee, Ennis, Limerick etc.) who would love 70 new jobs, but it depends what the jobs are in...

How come you can have a cluster of medical device companies in Tipperary? They don't *have* to be in Dublin.

Holland is a prime example for that.

    Den Hague - Political centre
    Rotterdam - Industrial centre
    Amsterdam - Cultural centre

You've suggested three alternative locations to Abbeyfeale already. I think you've proven why they're living in cloud cuckoo land

I'm a bogger, and work for a large financial institution in D4. Im surrounded by boggers, my whole team are culchies like myself, its great!

Im guessing they couldn't find any qualified jackeens to fill the roles...or boggers are just better.
None of your computers are connected to anything bar a media player looping stuff that looks like work to keep you entertained. All the jackeens are in the real office wit big screens showing what you're at for their amusement :)

When last were you in Dublin?????

    St. Stephen’s Green.
Opened in 1880, St. Stephen’s Green is perhaps Dublin’s most well-known Georgian square.

    Mounty Square.
Planned and developed in the late 18th century by Luke Gardiner, the 1st Viscount Mountjoy, Mountjoy Square was once Dublin’s most prestigious Georgian square.

    Parnell Square.
Perched at the end of O’ Connell Street, Dublin’s main thoroughfare, Parnell Square is the oldest Georgian square in the city.

    Merrion Square.
One of the best surviving Georgian Squares in Dublin, Merrion Square’s architecture has remained unchanged for 200 years. Most notably the west side of the square has the Natural History Museum, the National Gallery and Leinster House.

    Fitzwilliam Square.
Only a stone's throw south of Merrion Square, Fitzwilliam Square is the smallest and the last of the last of the five Dublin Georgian squares to be completed.

    Temple Bar Square.
The heart and soul of Dublin’s historical and cultural activities, Temple Bar Square is a spot popular with tourists. The area is a historical hodgepodge as it was once a medieval suburb that was redeveloped in the 1600’s for British families and then again in the late 20th century to become the vibrant spot in the city filled with pubs and restaurants.

    Meeting House Square
Just around the corner from Temple Bar Square hidden down a small walkway is the much more contemporary Meeting House Square. It is Dublin’s newest square, only opening in 2011.

    Mayor Square.
Located in the IFSC, Ireland’s financial epicentre, Mayor Square is another square that shows off a more cutting-edge side to the city. Surrounded by Dublin’s modern architectural additions including the Samuel Beckett Bridge, IFSC House and the Convention Centre

    Grand Canal Dock.
Nicknamed Silicon Docks, Grand Canal Dock is fast becoming one of the trendiest squares in Dublin. Home to tech companies such as Facebook, Google and Airbnb.

    Smithfield Square.
Cafés, Restaurants, Bars and Entertainment in the heart of Dublin 7.
    .........
    These are all kips.

It has been proposed that 5,500 people and 20,000 acres of south Kilkenny will be transferred to Waterford. Furthermore, Fianna Fáil TD in south Kilkenny Bobby Alyward has ridiculed the proposal, while fellow Fianna Fáil TD John McGuinness said no one from Waterford or anywhere else would take "one inch of south Kilkenny".

He also likened it to an act of war. :pac::D

Considering the reaction to above you have not got a chance in hell of that ever ever happening.

It's still not as bad as the human sh1te you'd smell off some illiterate track suited skanger or junkie on the Luas Red Line.

I could name the companies that make Galway a thriving city but that information might be too much for you to take in all at once.

Saw that too, we were howling with laughter, some dirty b*tch who runs a flower shop and some mac-wearing hillybilly with horsesh*t on his boots going on about intel opening up shop there, only 100 miles of backroads from the nearest airport and right beside 'the university'.
