Likely, but why not use the idiot-elect in chief as he's done so far. Why blow him out of the water now? Although the Russians might not have released this info and it's being released by someone else.

It was Buzzfeed that ran with it . Apparently all the news outlets knew about it but hadn't verification.
You may suggest they were given the nod from the powers that be,but I doubt Trump would deliberately want it publicised.

I'm inclined to lean towards a lot of this release is bull****. They probably have compromising financial and personal information on him from hacking the RNC. But I suspect this golden showers bit is a neon herring to attract attention and then when this one is blown up and deflated, all the information will be considered "compromised", including the real stuff. Sort of a reverse fake news story, exploding it with silly details to cover the actual information. Trump may have been convinced to go along with it due to his reality TV background, or it may be going on around him since the man can't be trusted in how he handles information at all.

Pretty fair-handed article about it, and shorn of the golden showers salaciousness, it reads a lot more convincingly. Although if the FBI were sitting on this for eighteen months while going on about the emails, honestly guys, do you want to be taken seriously or not?

It seems likely that the Russians would not have released it through these channels. I would have gone with wikileaks if I was them. Whatever the US has seems to be have come through the brits via one of their sources. I doubt Trump has had anything to do with the release.

Has John McCain said anything about all this? Or at least confirmed that he handed something over even if he doesn't say what it was? I still have to imagine there is more than a sex tape to all this. I mean they also said financially comprised and I reckon Trump knows he could survive a sex tape. I guess it would be more his own supporters who might have an issue but they follow everything he says and his opponents tend not to like people judging others for their bedroom activities.

Would Wikileaks have published it? Maybe once, but I'm not so sure they would have now.

The McCain connection seems to be pretty solid, although it doesn't really mean anything against McCain himself whether or not it's true. It's been in circulation and even news outlets have had a smash at it - see Buzzfeed, although most other publications are being pretty lairy about reporting exactly what it says. I'd agree it's pretty likely that the most damaging allegations are the quiet ones, the financial ties in particular.

This f*ckwit just gets better, and better, and better.

If you saw Frank Underwood paying prostitutes to pee on each other in House of Cards you'd dismiss it as being over the top.

Also, direct Russian interference in a US election via the Trump campaign, is pretty damning.

I have that scene from Alan Partridge playing in my head where Lynn hears about water sports for the first time and she can't get her head around it.

Lynn: Well... maybe they were caught short?
Alan: They weren't caught short woman!

95% chance the report is bogus, just read it.

Trump probably thought wikiLEAKS was something completely different when he first heard about it. Bet he was disappointed.

Why are wikileaks getting involved in this? Do they have some evidence about whether or not Trump is compromised?

Surely they can't have any evidence or they would have released it. Also it is well known they are not involved with any of the accused here at all so can hardly have insider knowledge.

Simply put all they should do is report that the agencies have said this and point out there is currently no proof. This is what the MSM have done and what proper journalists would do given the facts available instead of using random terms like pseudo to direct their readership.

Well, if they want what they have on him to be effective, he needs to know, too, surely? An ignorant Trump can't be blackmailed...

Because Wikileaks are experts at authenticating documents.

Sorry to piss on your parade.

This is what the guy at Buzzfeed wrote about the report.

Seems that the report was (partly ?) fabricated by 4chan :pac:

edit: At least to some Trump-fans ;)

The story is 4chan sent it out to an anti Trump GOP journo at buzzfeed, and a shill account on twitter that was pro Hillary for months coaxed him somehow into believing it. He passed it onto McCain and the CIA ate it up and included it as part of the classified report on Russian interference.

Whether that's true or not who knows. I posted some links over on the politics forum linking to stuff from 4chan.

Has anyone said they are verified? Every news agency I have read has mentioned this and most still don't publish the details with this given as the reason.

What are wikileaks saying is fake? The document (as in it isn't a real intellegence services document) or the Intel contained within? Are they arguing against the fact that the intellegence chiefs included something of this nature in their report to Trump and Obama and that this is simply the wrong document?

They are about as clear as mud. In whst you linked they said something is wrong and you decided it would add to the discussion? Come on now I want a bit more on the facts rather than a vague dismissal of the event which seems to be more of a move along than any sort of description of what is going on. The MSM reported whst they know happened and mentioned what was unproven. That is how journalism should work.

So on the day that Trump is due to give his 1st press conference this 'news' breaks?

1st off, if he did do something then so what, grown man in own bedroom. Better that it is out so that he can't be blackmailed over it.
2nd, if the press conf does go ahead, instead of asking him about his quotes about Russian hacking HC 30k e-mails and what he knew when, the whole thing will be wasted on how he likes to pee and Trump will spend the while time screaming about agendas etc.

I used to feel a bit sorry for the media, the www has changed the whole business. But when they are so easily distracted and run to whatever the latest bright light happens to be makes them less than useless.

Yeah I saw that, the thing is that the timeline still isn't clear. Seemingly this started in August while the post on 4chan was somewhere in late October.

That said, people need to make up their minds regarding the likes of Buzzfeed. Is it credible media or not when it suits you ?

Wikileaks are saying the entire report is fake.

How journalism should work is by not publishing reports with slander and including a disclaimer that the report is unverified and likely to be false.

If there was a story circulating about President Elect Nixon, or President Elect Kennedy paying prostitutes to pee on each other and then being blackmailed by the Russian Govt during the election I'm sure it would have been news worthy then too. This is not about journalism in the internet age.

Well that's 'comprehensive'. You'd think the media and politicians would be a little more wary of 'sexed up dossiers' from the intelligence comunity that cites 'sources' that it neither names or verifies, after all, look at where they got you previously....

Yeah because its not like WikiLeaks have an agenda against America or anything :D

This is the biggest political scandal of our time. I knew Trump would be impeached but I didn't know it would happen this quickly.

The Wikileaks documents at least published the truth, personally a candidate that jerrymandered their selection and with whom the media colluded to attempt to fix an election would be a bigger scandal, by Hillary's Watergate style antics are just so 70's I guess and as long as it's Trump, journalistic standards need not apply.

As much as I despise the man and everything he stands for I don't believe that the Russians have some "dirt" on him fit enough to be able to blackmail him. He got in in spite of his offensiveness and history (Maybe even because of it). Don't get me wrong, I'm sure there is more dirt out there and it will come out continuously but I don't think it would be enough to control him.

About the only thing they could have on him is if he straight up murdered someone or is actually from Kenya :) and I don't think either is likely.

I'd like to see some decent, credible evidence from trustworthy news sources rather than 2nd or third hand reports from blogs before I start paying any attention.

Edit: It's coming from Buzzfeed? Ah come on: "You'll never guess the 5 AMAZING things we have on Trump."

Wikileaks doesn't have an agenda against America. You've been misled by the media and smear campaigns.

Second part, I think you'll be proven wrong, but let's see.
