Can you explain why you refer to him as Barry?

How this is not THE top story beyond the Muslim ban is beyond me. (From 3 mins)

Can not be a co-incidence. If anyone is in any doubt as to the scale and seriousness of the Russian interference in US elections be in doubt no more.

If I was American I would regard this as an act of war on my own country. Unbelievable what is going on here.

    lol

Deputy head of Cyber Security at the FSB just happens to have a bag thrown over his head at a meeting, is hauled out, never heard from again.

    lol indeed.

Perhaps it's for something else totally unrelated.

I fully expect the Russians to have had an online presence. The rest is CT nonsense on the back of losing by the media. Unverified dossier. You would Swear the USA does not have it's own Troll factory attacking the Russians.

Or the Bannon promotion and Muslim ban are conveniently distracting from what seems to me to be a very serious incident, confirmation potentially of much more serious interference in the electoral process.

All I'll say is dig in, things are going to get rough for many reasons.

I don't see this playing out well. Remember Obama's last act as President? Deploy 1,000's of troops to Eastern Europe. He knew, he was told.

    This is crazy.

Scaremongering media in the USA that lost the campaign. Act of war goes both ways The USA troll factory equivalent Attacking Russia constantly. There are more checks and balances in the USA to stop Presidential interference on the investigations. If there was anything it would have come out.

One superpower. Can you tell us how Trump will silence the huge number of people in the Government departments that want to get dirt on him at any opportunity. if there was Dirt it would be out. It's all CT nonsense at this stage. Unverified... oh look trump administration will silence any investigation.. Jesus.

So Russian media reporting the "disappearing" of Deputy Head of Cyber Security at the FSB is a lie is it?

Bare in mind journalists in Russia speaking out are under constant threat of assassination.

    Here is what I think.

There is a mad man in the White House, compromised by the Russians who are calling the shots.

Do you think, given the evidence there may be some element of truth to that?

    What evidence?

His sucking up to Putin, his denigration of NATO.

You realise that Eastern and Baltic States are incredibly alarmed that Russia may invade them, just like Crimea and Georgia, to protect their "cultural interests".

Trump gives Russia it's best chance.

Privately all Republican blood vessels are bursting over this. Anyone who knows US history and the Cold War knows something is wrong with his approach to that thug.

But this is not only a US problem, it is very much a European security problem.

Yeah so again, what evidence is there he's compromised?

    https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2017/jan/27/theresa-may-white-house-visit-donald-trump-nato

    In reference to NATO.

I'll reply to your post tomorrow, hitting the hay. All i'll say is something is very wrong with his administration. It does not add up. "Unhinged" would be the most polite way to describe it.

Time's columnist calling for the assassination of Trump. Classy.

USA and Russia not antagonising each other is a good thing. Like Reagan and Gorbachev..

It might not seem like such a good thing if your country shares a border with Russia. With elections on the horizon, it's wearingly predictable that Putin will make another land grab in the name of "protecting ethnic Russians", whip up jingoistic fervour and deflect attention from their sluggish economy.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,545 ✭✭✭jooksavage

Also, you're comparing Putin to Gorbachev! This is something neither would appreciate...

Good grief, Rachel Maddow takes her time getting to the point. The only other clip I've seen of her is the same, which is a pity as otherwise she's a good speaker. Just very repetitive.

People are perhaps looking at the US a bit too much, looking at what's happened there as an end rather than a mean. But America, while important to Putin in terms what he can get away with, is more likely a means than an end. The most important thing is what he do in Eastern Europe.

Given the man was arrested specifically in relation to US intelligence, yeah, I think there's definitely something there. It's not that surprising that the usual people are blanket-dismissing it and lolling, albeit it's boringly predictable.

Cant see why the would not put a temporary lift on it. An amnesty if you like for those caught out.

It is certainly NOT an amnesty, he has been overruled by the Courts, 0-1.

It's not over yet, don't be complacent too soon. This is not a guy who admits defeat easily. He'll push this as far as it can go rather than risk losing face over it.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/27/world/europe/russia-hacking-us-election.html
Goes into it in more detail than the Maddow clip. And yeah, this should be a bigger story. As usual, it's being covered up by another scandal, although this scandal is pretty deserving of attention in itself.

Also, Trump is now whining that people are very meanly calling his ban a "Muslim Ban". I wonder where they got that idea.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 11,631 ✭✭✭✭Hank Scorpio

Rachel Maddow made a fool of herself over the election, zero credibility in my eyes - never gave Trump a chance of winning. She's the Sean Hannity of msnbc in how extreme she is.

Yes, but everyone who spoke or speaks against Trump appears to have no credibility in your eyes, so I doubt it will keep her up at nights.

Got anything more about the Russian arrests, or is that just a big liberal conspiracy theory?

And six people praying in a mosque in the US are now dead. None of them did anything to attack the United States and didn't deserve to end up sacrificed to this moron's need for self-aggrandizement and thug tactics.

Wasn't mosque in Canada? I mean motivations seem to be right wing terrorists all right but in Canada (not saying Trump's rhetoric does not have anything to do with it).

Yeah. I am reminded about the statement that liberals took him literally but not seriously and conservatives took him seriously but not literally. Turns out he should have been taken literally and seriously. It is a Muslim ban alright, he can have no complaints about the media here. He promised one on the campaign trail and Rudi has said that it was a way of making it legal.

It is difficult to keep up with the sheer number of scandals the man is involved with. I mean any other candidate would still be arguing over the Trump U case but at this case defrauding Americans is pretty small fry in comparison to the rest of Trump's faults.

It was, yeah. I deleted that part as I'd gotten confused.

Yeah. He just can't bear criticism. He lies so easily about so many things that the default setting regarding his pronouncement is skepticism. And so far, it's usually been justified.
