Saw a video on Facebook of McGregor with his two belts.

What's the story with these things, are there "true" belts knocking around or are they all replicas like the ones you see in shops?

My understanding is the belt they are awarded in the Octogon is theres to keep. Champions aren't expected to bring their belt to a title fight, there is an additional belt brought for that occasion. So each time a champion defends a belt, they are given an additional belt. This is why some fighters will donate one to their gym in appreciation or to their coaches etc.

Anderson Silva and Demetrius Johnson probably can't move in their homes for all the belts thrown about the place.

Dont think all over them are real Gold are they? or is it every title fight a real gold belt is up for grabs?

Not a chance the UFC are dropping 200k per belt. That's more than lots of champions get for show money. If they were worth that the likes of Mighty Mouse would be selling them as soon as they win them.

I reckon they cost 5k, max. Seeing as they are all the same and the UFC probably bought a big amount in bulk, probably much less.

Number I seen before online was $15k.

And that just means that's not much the jeweler who makes them is charging them. Not that it's hot much the gold is worth.

Regardless of what they are worth physically if you have 10 of them you will get some kanye west type character looking for one he will give you 100k - sure he could get one made but it wouldnt be the same.

You could sell these priced on the owners stardom!

The UFC should engrave them after the fights so there is something to differentiate them. Probably too costly under the new owners, wouldn't surprise me if they started giving out plastic belts.

Does each belt have the weight class on it or is its just a generic ufc belt for all?

Generic. Hence Conor was handed Woodleys belt after beating Alvarez. Haha

Olympic gold medals are 92% silver, a bunch of other stuff and about 0.002% gold.......don't see why these belts would be any different

I imagine he had to give that one back and it was just for a photo OP. But yeah, I think these days they are generic. They used to have the weight class on the side plates. I don't know if they engrave or date them or anything these days, they should.

The one the have at the press conferences are often replicas, you can see how light they are when they were flinging them about.
    Gold plated. All of them.
I was reading about the timeline of belts and design changes and apparently they used to be different inlay metals depending on weight class. Shame that they dropped that feature.
There's a chance the person was thinking of the WEC belt though.

The previous belts were produced by this guy in American who makes all the WWE belts. Pic Pic

But now they are made in Pakistan or something.

    Where the hell is this?

Vegas, maybe? Would he over doing his anti-bullying vid for Nevada maybe?

    Amazing looking place.

Just waiting for him to pimp out the Lightweight belt. For his first defence

On a different note, he has being removed from the FW rankings. While I understand him being removed from the champion spot. There has being fighters who have being inactive for over a year and still ranked. Rashad Evans springs to mind.

They clearly don't have problems ranking fighters in two divisions, as cowboy is ranked in both LW and WW. But then again his activity is unrivaled.

(but he hasn't fought at LW for a year come the 19th of this month, pretty much the same timeline as Conor)

It's the Canary Islands lads. Tenerife to be more precise. Just hope he stays out of trouble, last time Kell Brook was in Tenerife he was stabbed. Good time of year for it though shouldn't be too much hassle.

Baobab Suite in Costa Adeje to be even more precise.

Canaries are no more dangerous than anywhere else, probably safter there than in Dublin :pac:
