Have to agree. I spar with a few lanky lads and they have a stiffness to their punches. Deceptively hard punchers.

Conor hitting like a heavyweight sounds nonsense though.

Here's an interesting quote from JK:

Might be time to ditch those heavyweights

Of course it's bollocks but Kavanagh is hyping up his MAN, nothing wrong with that.

If only we had some mechanism to ask John questions... :pac:

Who's he sparring in his latest picture?

From those photos McGregor appears to be in great physical shape

    Ya mad bastard :p

Might be best rephrasing it as a question though (could ask him was he serious perhaps) could be deleted otherwise.

Maybe link to the article also so he knows where the quote came from.

Slightly off topic but does it annoy anyone else when people pronounce it "hyper bowl"?

    It drives me mental.

Schaub is gonna turn into an instant meme when Floyd butchers Conor the guy is a complete moron just listened to 40 minutes of his podcast and you're a hater if your saying Conor has no chance,

Wonder can you ask Kavanagh his views on letting Dargan into his gym but wont shake Floyds hand.

He's not. I'm sure this quote was around the Diaz or Alvarez fight, I could be wrong though.

I don't expect Conor to win, I don't expect it to be competitive. I've no idea if it will be over in 1 round or 12, but I'm still going to get together with a few friends and watch it. Purely for that 'What if' factor. Pure human curiosity.

I'll enjoy the build up, enjoy studying how Conor and his team prepare, all the fight content released in advance, the walkouts, the nervous anticipation, the Buffers doing the fighter introductions, the first exchange and yeah maybe I'll be left underwhelmed by the actual fight, but I'm aware of this well in advance. However, there is always 'what if'. I'd hate to wake up the next morning to find out there was a shock result or even just a loss for Conor but there was a flash knockdown or a surprisingly competitive 3, 4, or 5 rounds before Floyd puts Conor away. I'd hate to be trying to watch it live on a dodgy stream. What's it likely to cost, €20, €30, €40? Not much between some friends. It's worth it even just for the excuse to stay up and have a few beers like a lot of UFC events.

I've already asked 30 questions over 3 posts :o I get enough stick in here for talking too much, I don't want it over there too!

TBH and this is just like my opinion.....

John has 4 big fights upcoming - Smullen, Gunni, Charlie and Conor. He has been good enough to take time out to answer a lot of questions already.

I don't see the point in derailing that thread with negativity or sniping at him.

No. Michael is booked elsewhere for that date.

I criticized him already over there! For not showing up for Artem for the Swanson fight...

It's an 'AMA' not a 'Slate me!'.

I like to think I've been very fair when it comes to criticizing him when it was warranted and praising him when it's warranted. I even showed up to the gym after a week ranting about that Mental Message of the Week segment, so you can't say I lack balls!

Basically if you approach this with mindset of "this is not a UFC promotion" you can't go wrong. They'll take their cut and that's it.

Dana said there'll be an Embedded series for it but I'll believe it when I see it.

I'd imagine it's written into Conor's contract on the UFC's end. They are granting him temporary release so they can get certain guarantees on Conor's end.

Yep, slightly related to this, people were speculating that the UFC would never go for this match because of the ramifications but it's actually quite a smart move.

Even though the UFC allowing this sets a precedent (that any lawyer worth their salt would be able to get their fighter into a boxing match through the Ali Act), the problem is there are only 2, possibly 3, fighters in the UFC who can afford a lengthy legal battle with the UFC - the likes of Conor, GSP, Jon Jones.

So the rest of them won't even try go down that road. In that sense there's not a lot of danger in giving Conor the temporary release and they're probably cashing in $80 million+ for not doing a whole lot.

The only *potential* banana skin I see would be if Conor wins and decides to pursue a rematch without the UFC taking a big cut.
