Can confirm also, down in Kilkee at the moment and there were a good few flashes and bangs. Lost power briefly as well.

One to watch for tomorrow evening if the preceding frontal system clears well enough.

    396022.png

    396023.png

Also some strong shear in place so could line out into a shelf cloud type system like the north had last week.

Could make for an interesting day weather watching with quite a mix of weather across the country.

    Day 2 Convective Outlook
    VALID 06:00 UTC Sat 03 Sep 2016 - 05:59 UTC Sun 04 Sep 2016

    ISSUED 20:34 UTC Fri 02 Sep 2016

    ISSUED BY: Chris

A complex low pressure and associated fronts will cross southern Britain during Saturday bringing heavy rain to places and the potential of some strong gusts to coastal areas in Wales and SW England. Some embedded convection cant be ruled out in the heavy rain as it moves through, but lightning seems unlikely. Once its cleared to the east later in the afternoon and into the evening a highly sheared (40-50kts DLS) and weakly unstable (200 j/kg CAPE) airmass will overspread southern Britain. During this time isolated fast moving sharp showers or a few thunderstorms will be possible. Narrow lines of more intense convection may develop through the evening and first part of the night in a zone from southern Ireland, across north Wales, Liverpool Bay and over to the Humber estuary. Given the shear in this zone a few weak tornadoes cannot be ruled out.

18.5C here near Tralee already with some clear patches developing letting sunshine through, humid. So I wonder is the general SE area most likely to get the most conducive conditions for activity today given that it is in an area with the most wind sheer and with the highest lifted Index reading or is it more likely for a wider distribution of some activity if favorable conditions materializes ?

Some early morning sferics off the W coast and a couple of recent ones in the last couple of hours...

Yeah it'll be interesting to see as even though the best instability and shear is there in the SE , the PPN seems to be more northwards... If its up this way ill be out keeping an eye on it :)

Not really I think we got the "skinny" bit in the middle so not much to see
I could make out the actually cloud bringing the rain . It was distinct from the wall of cloud around the rest of the sky.
There was a tiny bit of a "tail" on it which was quite cool
    Moved through quick

Is there a low pressure area developing over the west? The line of showers appears to be bending back in on itself west of Mayo on the Met E radar.
