Just in after the game, sickened. Can't believe Deegan once again gave in to Dublin pressure.
Connelly on a number of occasions pulled players to the ground right in front of Deegan, what did he do ? Nothing. Shocking inconsistency, at Mayo's expense once again.

It worked both ways.... Deegan was poor for both teams... off the ball on Dublin defender after Keegans goal was as bad as anything that went on... so no point blaming the ref.
You should be more worried about Mayos management than the ref

It was brought in to stop cynical fouling in the game, pulling down and third man tackles and the like. As someone said earlier there should be a ten minute sin bin when you get a yellow so your team suffers. I remember the year before it came in Tyrone were a couple of points up in a game and they literally rugby tackled lads down to stop them getting through and they were more than willing to accept a yellow card when there was only 5 or 10 minutes left in a game.
Them feckin nordies. Started it all.

I think its obvious that much like the semi the big calls went Dublin's way.

Big difference a black card does not weaken Dublin, no other team has that luxury. Small threw a punch at OConnor and he gets a yellow. I'd expect Deegan won't have to buy a pint in Dublin for a while.

    Looking at it again, Dublin didn't win it, Mayo lost it;

Slow start to go 4 points down
    Goalie-Penalty
    Goalie-kickouts
    Keegan messing about again
Key forwards Cillian O'Connor and Aidan O'Shea scored nothing from play.

And Mayo still only lost by a point.

You can point to the Keegan's black card and the ref but Mayo still had the chances to win it and didn't take them.
Better team won, well done Dublin.

They will have to try the rugby sin bin ten minutes off the field for a yellow soon, second yellow and your gone.

Seriously? Now the refs should issue cards based on the quality of the subs available to teams?

Ah c'mon. Nobody likes to lose a game fella but this is silly stuff.

They tried that before and all the managers whinged about it (despite it working) and so it never got passed.Same thing will happen again probably.

Anyway well done Dublin I guess, play one away game all championship and spend a fortune on facilities and a professional back room team in what is pretty much financial doping.
Average dub fan not smart enough to have a bit of shame about it

    Agreed.

Time there was an enquiry and rebalancing on the funds collared by Dublin at the expense of the other counties

Aaah get over it. O Connors soft free at the end that he missed should have been a routine kick for any inter county free taker but he bottled it. Game was there to be won by Mayo both days but they weren't good enough... simple as.

Agreed, the Dubs are so well financed at the moment they are essentially professionals competing against amateurs. I know the stronger counties all "look after" their players but the Dublin lads are full time players.

But iirc all those trial rules which were in for the league were voted together in one batch rather than individually, so they were on a hiding to nothing anyway

You think they'd buy better suits out of it.

These ones could be cut up to dry the eyes of everyone banging on about money, population, referees, what way the wind was blowing, and the million other excuses.

I think Dublin are plenty good at excuses too when it suits ye, rain , wet ball, slippy surface etc
Anyways Dublin were the better team- so grudgingly I say "we'll done"

Dublin won they were the best team all this whinging from Dublin fans about not getting enough credit is really ****ing tiresome particularly considering the media love the Dublin footballers and will do whatever they can to praise them.

A sin bin for 10 minutes will effect both teams equally. The black card does not do that.
Connolly fooled the ref into sending Keegan off today, the replacement was no where near the quality.

That's because Mayo have not won an all Ireland in 65 years.

It's obvious neutrals would want Mayo to win.

The media were equally desperate for Dublin to win in 2011.

Thats the way people are they like to see the underdog win.

Mayo winning is much more of a story than Dublin winning so it's understandable the media would take that angle in the build up to the game.

The only way out until we get referees who apply the rules evenly is to do away with the black cards. Gaelic football was showed in worst possible light by Tyrone with their cynical tackling in the final quarter of games.

If the referee lets play flow he is not applying the rules if he blows constantly he is ruining the game.
Sin bin seems to be the only answer but would we not be swapping black cards with sin bin for the sake of it. Yellow cards appear to be the best way.

Also a referee should have the power to look retrospectively at an incident and upgrade a yellow to a red and vice versa. Maybe 3 yellow cards in 3 consecutive games should mean a 1 match ban. The one thing we need to avoid is going back to puke cynical football of a few years ago.

So now its the general rules?

Your previous 2 comments were about the ref, you moaned about Deegan.

The ref can't invent a sin bin mid-way through an AI final just to suit you.

So at least you're now saying it wasn't the ref's fault today afterall, a general rule change is whats needed.

Then the silly black card for Cooper could have been dealt with via a sin-bin. Oops, sorry, you never mentioned Cooper, it was just Keegan.
