Just heard yesterday’s news bulletin on Nova’s 5.30 update, including the death of the 1 year old infant in Cork and team news for Ireland’s friendly with Poland played last night. Amateur hour.

That's a regular occurrence on Nova.

Sounds more like Kevin McGahern to me.

Not those promos. There are a few voices at the moment on the station

Noticed 2 things today while listening to the jukebox.
    1. How long have they been using todayfm/newstalk news and sports bulletins.
    2. A promo for the breakfast show with a tenor as a guest, dear god it sounded awful.

Also noticed on fb thats the breakfast show is still getting scathing reviews.

also noticed a George Ezra song just before 11.00am - exact same thing last Sunday . Plus a song starts then another comes on straight over it - might the show be v/t'd ?

Was I hearing things, or did I hear the new Nina Nesbitt song on Nova during the week? Undeniably catchy but I wouldn't really have her on a station playlist with AC/DC, Bon Jovi, Bruce Springsteen etc.

I think the jukebox was recorded. Songs were cut before their end. And now, the show was over and there was space for another song before the news.

I see the launch of the breakfast show podcast went well on Facebook :)... Seriously though they're surely trolling at this stage

"..and in ROCK news..Westlife are getting back together..".....a full 3min segment about them with a song playing away in the background...funny that, must have missed them mentioning it on the Planet Rock news.....

Jeez Max have you heard that Nina Nesbitt song? Catchy as hell but no AC/DC or Led Zep.

    Quite Ed Sheeran-y in fact.

Was this on the breakfast show, Max? I knew it had gotten bad, but..........Westlife? I guess that's it then, Nova (as we once knew it) is well and truly over. I suspect we'll soon be witnessing the launch of a 'New Nova', or Virgin Radio Ireland as some have speculated. As strange as this may sound, I'd actually welcome such a move. There's no point in maintaining the pretence that they cater to fans of rock music anymore. At this stage, they should simply bury the brand and let it Rest In Peace, rather than desecrating its corpse even further.

NOOOOO!!! Then we'd loose OTR and Fri Night Rock Show. They're the only good things on Nova now.

It would be really sad to see such a brilliant radio station die.

Agreed, OTR would be a huge loss, or its current incarnation since they pushed PJ off the FM.

As regards the Friday Night Rock Show, I've always found it funny how they need to have a specific 'rock show' on a supposed rock station.

Ghost is a Swedish rock band that was formed in Linköping, Sweden in 2006.[1][2] In 2010, they released a 3-track demo followed by a 7" vinyl titled "Elizabeth", and later their debut full-length album Opus Eponymous. The Grammis-nominated album was widely praised and significantly increased their popularity. Their second album and major label debut Infestissumam was released in 2013, debuted at number one in Sweden, and won the Grammis Award for Best Hard Rock/Metal Album. The band released their third studio album, Meliora, in 2015, to much critical acclaim and high record sales, reaching number one in their home country of Sweden, and number eight in the United States. Its lead single, "Cirice", earned them the 2016 Grammy Award for Best Metal Performance. The band released their fourth studio album, Prequelle, in 2018

Had to laugh when I heard the news being broke on the Morning Show.

Have Metallica even been played on the new Morning Show?

Just turned on Nova. Playing 'Rattle that Lock' by David Gilmour, quality.

If people actually cared about music, Nova is still a great station. If people want to piss and moan about an occasional bit of harmless showbiz news, then it's great for that too.

A broad church, you might say. No wonder ye're all glued to it 24/7.

I'd need glue to be able to listen 24/7....:p

Why do you always feel the need to have a stab at anyone that complains about the station....is it too close for comfort..:P

I think one of the issues among long time listeners is due to the fact that less than a year ago, Nova was openly mocking other stations in their advertising regarding the type of 'showbiz news' that those stations peddled, which Nova has now embraced themselves. Many Nova listeners tuned in to Nova to avoid the silliness and celebrity gossip so prevalent on other breakfast shows. Nova provided an alternative to the very format that they are now mimicking. So I can understand why some listeners may not be happy. That's my take on it anyway.

Heard Nina Nesbitt AGAIN yesterday on Nova. Well, I guess that song has a guitar in it, so I guess it counts as guitar based music?
