You guys know a humidor is just a box, right? Now if he says he has a walk-in humidor, that's another matter entirely.

    Which reminds me -

You see I used to do this too as it was how I was brought up as well.

I'd say about half the country was brought up like that. Decent food has only reached Ireland in the past 20-25 years and even that was only in certain places.

The standard Irish dinner was a piece of meat that could have been used as a murder weapon (it was Professor Plum in the drawing room with the lamb chop), soggy potatoes that were mush and carrots that were liable to break apart if you stuck a fork into them.

Overcooking things is the great leveller. I'm sure we've all seen people (many from the slightly older generations) that have been in a restaurant and ordered an expensive steak to be well done. One way to turn a high quality piece of meat into a cheap lump of tasteless gristle.

Is that Teelings the one they call the Revival or something? Great whiskey.

Don't think so. I'm going with the Red Breast tomorrow and the Teelings on Saturday I think. Haven't tried either before. The Chivas is lovely so might save that. I love having problems like this.

Do you know how I know you guys are rugby fans? You have humidors

I don't keep my cuban cigars in a humidor, am I still allowed to be a rugby fan?

    Anyone here heading to EP?

Out buying heaps of unnecessary **** for it as we speak...

I was brought up on incinerated beef for sure. I can remember being in a restaurant when I was a kid asking for a medium steak, my mother immediately jumped in and told them to do it medium-well.

Rare all the way for me, medium-rare if it's a rib-eye.

Don't recognise any of the bands at EP this year. The Dublin Gospel Choir are playing on Sunday, is that jesus music?

No they do covers of contemporary music, it's actually really cool, unfortunately as it's 12 am on a Sunday, it doesn't draw a big crowd. Line up is pretty poor this year, but still plenty to see and do. London Grammar probably be the highlight for me this year.

    Dopey question.

Do you "smoke" cigars? Now in my defence I've never inhaled a cigarette in my life...like never even had a single draw on one. I was told you don't smoke them so how do you enjoy them? Oh and I fcuking hate the smell of cigars.

I got my brother a 24-year old Teeling for his wedding recently.

Bastard better realise he is supposed to invite me round to drink it with him.

You don't inhale the smoke from them like you would with a cigarette.

And they smell amazing. The next day, not so much.

You don't inhale them into your lungs like you do a cigarette. You just take the smoke in your mouth and then breathe it out. Smoking cigars is more about the taste.

Though some people who smoke cigarettes do inhale cigars out of habit, but it's not particularly pleasant. It's much stronger with way more smoke.

A pipe smoker told me years ago that "you should let it coat the inside of your mouth"...as he was saying it he that far-away look in his eye like he was describing something orgasmic.
I'm an ex cigarette smoker. I would have always attempted to inhale cigar smoke the odd time that I encountered one. Never enjoyed the experience as a result!

Wouldn't try a cigar now for fear of it retriggering my smoking urge!
Don't mind the smell too much though.

Hungover at the homecoming on Monday in Salthill all going well (I'm very worried about Waterford)

    Yea just spotted Duran Duran.

The XX rings a bell actually but I can't think of any of their songs.

I thought EP was a festival for young people?

There's such a random mix at the Picnic. It's what makes it so special ;)

Was working in pub in Dublin for the final last year. Think I worked 40 hours or so over the Friday, Saturday, Sunday of the weekend last year.
Should be great weekend. Hopefully Galway win as it means work for me in Salthill will be hell lot more fun than normal....

I'm not to be honest but then I'm usually confident enough. Think Galway & Tipp were the two best teams in the country the last two seasons. Can't see the Waterford system upsetting Galway to such an extent that they don't get over the line.

My major worry is if they mark Whelan out of the game we're basically reduced to Conor and Joe Cooney (who have been fantastic this season in fairness) as our threats in front of goal, especially if Canning stays in the middle. That said I'm one of the few pessimistic Galway heads coming into this game.

But on the other hand if we can have Coen and Burke boss midfield we'll do an awful lot of damage.

Gleeson is due a red card too after his showing the last day and he'll be targeted so he lashes out.

Plenty have tried, but Whelan is a livewire and liable to pop up anywhere. I'd say he's a nightmare to mark. The way Waterford play a sweeper system Galway are better off with Canning out the field.

Are you confusing Gleesons? The other one lashed out the last day and saw red, the other just pulled a helmet behind him. It wasn't a lot different from Tuohy's helmet pull in the other semi-final - I wouldn't say he's due a red card either. Austin Gleeson is a fantastic hurler, I hope he stays on and we see a great midfield battle.

Nah Austin Gleeson is a pretty dirty hurler. That was his most high profile incident but far from his worst. He reminds me a lot of David Burke where he has a temper that can erupt out if nowhere. He'll have all eyes on him on Sunday after he escaped the ban (I too believe that Tuohy's was intentional).

I played hurling for 25 years. It's a tough game, you need to be able to take a belt and give it too. If you think Gleeson is dirty you should have seen some of the teams I hurled against. Hurler and young hurler of the year, not many dirty hurlers win those, especially in the same year. I hope he has a great game on Sunday, think the game needs that for Waterford to have a chance. Still hope Galway win, obviously.
