Tea and cake, just so you know, Aldi do an almost identical wooden highchair for about 45eur.It's Hauck brand (check it out on Amazon). We have two of them, they have been available round early March time the last two years and they sell out quickly! They are brilliant, and you can pick up infant inserts for them on Amazon for very little. Our 3.5 year old and 19 month old have one each.I am not a big Aldi/Lidl buyer but I can definitely recommend these.

I just completed my order (haven't gotten a confirmation email yet though). I will definitely check it out, it's my first, so kinda going all out :pac: I haven't told my husband I bought it yet. My credit card is going to cry.

Hope you get the buggy RK.

Kiddy I size lie flat car seat with base for 200, down from 460. Fantastic bargain for a Highly recommended car seat. Safe to stay in for long periods (unlike upright car seats).

Tea and cake, I have the Tripp trapp and the Hauck, and while the Hauck is a great copy, the Tripp trapp is still far better! It will last longer, and if you’ve ordered the newborn set, I find it invaluable to be able to have the baby at the kitchen table with us from day 1!

inhealth.ie have 15% off everything for black friday - they do a fair bit of medical-y baby stuff like breast pumps and dopplers and maternity pads etc.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 26,928 ✭✭✭✭rainbow kirby

Finally pulled the trigger on the Out n About Nipper double today - Pramworld had a fairly low price on it then threw in another 10% off for Black Friday. £332 in the end for the buggy and I grabbed a car seat as well for the newbie. All coming on Monday :)

We got the Jake (Black with black frame) months ago for about £615. It’s currently £627. Both much cheaper than in stores looking for €900-€1000+ for the same model.

Got lie flat Kiddy car seat at €270 discount few days ago on Bella Baby, Angelcare Monitor video & motion €162 on mamas and papas, Mamas & Papas bud booster seat (to make any chair a high chair up to 3 years) £27 on Amazon. Some other amazon deals for bottles, pram organiser, Vicks humidifier too.

    I love a good discount :D

Only the cotbed left to get but as we’ve the baby box & carrycot from Vista (approved for overnight sleeping) we’ll hold off. Need to de-clutter the house first!

When I was pregnant and looking for a Tens machine I came across these on Amazon. It worked perfectly and so cheap compared with the shops. Only drawback is that new pads are more expensive than the original price but you get four pads with it anyway.
(Can't remember if they deliver direct to Ireland or if I used Parcel Motel).

Thanks, I have this saved to my basket but there are no reviews so I wasn't sure whether to go for it or not!

Looks like I will have to use parcel motel with it. Going to order it tomorrow I have a heap of stuff to order :)

It was perfect! I think when I got it first it actually didn't work but it was just the batteries they had sent must have been dodgy, put my own in and it was fine!

I thought that if nothing else they're a good distraction! And definitely don't do any harm so might as well try one. Always still went for epidural though!

My wife is pregnant and I took a shot at getting mothercare in Belgard to price match online for a dream genii pillow at inhealth. They gave it to me for €40 instead of €60, matching the price. Might be worth looking at if you are in store to get them to price match!
    https://www.inhealth.ie/dreamgenii-pregnancy-pillow.html - 40
    http://www.mothercare.ie/dreamgenii-pregnancy-and-feeding-support-pillow.html - 60

Its about the same price as getting it from Amazon.

Yes, I did my research on sleeping pillows and although there is some mixed reviews for the cost, she is a front and back sleeper normally, and those kinds of sleepers raved about it, so anything to help encourage sleeping on her side.

We've also started preparing for the arrival too. We bought most of the bottle equipment in the Black Friday sales, basically all the bottle requirements except a pump (this bundle: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Tommee-Tippee-Perfect-Complete-Feeding/dp/B01N9Q9NKP (£144 currently) for about €100 in total. It was cheaper buying them separately, but I found amazon was by far the cheapest to buy it vs irish stores.

Still so much to look to buy though!

We got lots of the muslins and found them great. Also used the cellular blankets.

Have the wooden baby chair from a few years ago. I preferred a padded one when starting out as he didn’t have the support needed in this. However once he got a bit bigger I changed over and I love it. Can have him sitting up eating off the table with us. Also loved the muslins. I got some in a few different shops and they were my favourite. They went nice and soft when washed. Others went hard.

With the high chair I’d suggest being early. I went to one ALDI at 10 to be told they were gone as people had been queuing outside. Went to another one and got the last one. Though it may depend where you are. My Mam and sister are down the country and there were loads left in theirs!

Edit to say I’m talking about aldi

The sleeping bags are really good and great value compared to other ones. I bought a few in the current size and next size last time! I think this time they’re 2.5tog so just bear in mind if buying sizes that you probably wouldn’t use them that heavy in summer. I used sleeping bags from about 2 months on.

The contactless thermometer is brilliant , and a great bargain. Theyre around 60 in Boots I think and 13 in Aldi. Use mine all the time and so easy compared to the ear ones.

Looking for feedback on the cotbed please guys. Does anyone know if it has a drop side rail? It doesn't say on the description and the video didn't demonstrate one either!

I've bought in both offers before and found them all to be really good. We have the Hauck wooden high chair from Aldi (50 Euro plus a cushion from Amazon £24), which we've used from as soon as she could sit and we started feeding her solids. It came with a harness which we used to stabilise her as well as a table front. We now use the table part with a middle divider for the legs, as she doesn't need the harness anymore. When she's too big to fit in the chair with the table on, we'll probably take it off and attach the harness again for stability. It looks a lot like the very expensive Stokke chair, but it's a little more work to move the table attachment and seat heights around as you've to adjust all the connections to loosen and tighten. However, I'm ok to do that to save a few hundred Euro.

We got the Hauck black buggy too. It's not particularly great, as it only folds over flat rather than lengthways and we couldn't use it for plane travel as easy as a loaned pushchair that folded lengthways, but it was only 34 Euro. I use it the odd time when I don't have the boot space for our chunky travel system, so it does well as a spare.

The muslins were fantastic, they're soft and a decent size. I do have friends that didn't like them as they found them too thin for pukey babies. I actually liked  that they were thin and soft though.
Got a load of organic cotton clothes in different sizes in the Lidl baby event. They're a little more premium than the Aldi stuff, however, Aldi was great for stocking up on babygros and vests at much cheaper prices.

Really! I'm so out of the loop... last cot I bought was 2010 and was used for 2 babies.. mad how regulations change so quick! Thanks for that. Looks like it might be a good buy so!

From what I've heard it's a bit of a nightmare. I'm going down just before 9 when it opens and hoping to get the cot. All the best with your scan tomorrow :-)

We got a cot with a drop rail in eurobaby. It was one of my criteria, and I was happy to spend the 200eur on it.It's on baby no.2 and I am on pregnancy no.3 and I am ever so thankful for it!!!Ikea mattresses fit it, so just replace the mattress each time!

We have two hauck chairs-we use a big padded chair to start them off and then transfer them over to the chair when they are bigger. They are brilliant. You can get padded infant inserts for then on Amazon.I actually find them really good for the slightly older ages 2/3/ etc when they want to be at the table with you but can't reach comfortably to eat their food.I'd absolutely recommend them.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,818 ✭✭✭jlm29

Someone else told me you can no longer get dropside cots, but that’s obviously incorrect! I just googled it and mothercare do one, the Darlington

We got to Aldi on Long Mile at 9.06am and it was already packed, and they were down to 2 cotbeds left by 9.15! We got one though. Actually spent a small fortune but got so much; changing mats, sheets, mattress, sleeping bags, the thermometer.... actually very happy with it all. Some seriously great deals!

As for the scan, went great.... its a boy!!
