It almost seems like somebody is buying accounts to do their spamming for them.

13 people watching one of my ads and no offers.

    Ridiculous.

Is there any other website I could use? I'm not on FB

why do people withdraw their offer after it’s declined/refused. E.g I had an item for sale for €25, someone offered €10, I declined they then withdrew their offer 🤷‍♂️

I have many at a set price say 20 and if they offer 15 i will say no as fixed price is 20 and some leave or withdraw their bid and then others might then offer 20 and gets accepted.

DoneDeal is another selling site with limited time to sell an item before time runs out and you start with a new fresh add or you can pay a fee to keep it going.

Adverts give you a free bump every 30 days if object is not sold.

I have at last count 30 watching some items even when price dropped more.

Why not? If they offer ten and you refuse it, why let the offer stand?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,893 ✭✭✭ozmo

maybe they got sorted elsewhere- and withdrew from your advert in case you change you mind and accept - possibly days/weeks later- leaving them exposed to negative feedback when they dont complete the purchase?

    “Roll it back”

thanks. Is it possible for people to offer less when there is a minimum set?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,219 ✭✭✭GAAcailin

    hi,

Makes sense what you are saying re feedback; I thought one could only leave feedback when the item was marked as sold...

In my recent experience people withdraw the offer very promptly after I decline.

I have found sometimes people may return and accept an offer they had previously refused. I offered €25 on a pair of kids football boots that were on sale for €30; the seller refused my offer but about a week later accepted the offer. 🤷

I find people will add something in the comments when offering a lower amount than the advert allows.

Asking €30 - absolutely no offers below asking!

Offer €30 - €20 including shipping (entered in the comments)

Can be very annoying, usually find anyone that does this generally has a history of not offering asking price for anything they've commented/made offers on.

    Hi everyone,

    Quick question about adverts,

If you buy something from someone, can you resell it on Adverts?

I received something recently that wasn't quite what I wanted/was unexpected. I was just wondering if it's against the rules?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,157 ✭✭✭greasepalm

I dont see why not as long as you have an account as possible others buying stuff find out its not what they wanted and put it back up again for sale.

Ad up. €20 euro or something for what was worth more as basically brand new - within the hour offered the asking (was selling cheap as wanted rid of asap and was stated in the ad), accepted the offer, sent message when do you wanna collect - heard nothing back

Roll on five days later and withdraw the ad as gave it to the charity shop (who were delighted with it), suddenly get a message why you withdraw it, you accepted my offer! Obviously you didn't want it that much and turned off any other buyers

It's window shopping. Also people have less money at least the ones who might buy on adverts.

I’ll occasionally watch ads for various reasons, sometimes it’s because the item might be something I want but is priced too high, other times it might be because I have something similar to maybe sell and want to gauge the demand, and sometimes it might just be to remind me to have a proper look at the ad when I’ve more free time.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,615 ✭✭✭✭Flinty997

I also do that watch to see if the price drops or what price it gets because I also have something similar to sell.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,615 ✭✭✭✭Flinty997

Had a few buyers (good feedback( lately that made arrangements to collect something only to drop out after I've given out my contact details, address etc. These are items too big to meet and sell. But I dislike that. I'll be a lot less accommodating with meeting going forward and details will only be given out shortly in advance.

They ruined adverts by letting commercial sellers spam so many ads and not flag them as commercial. So you can't filter them out. Making it hard to find things.

By commercial I mean someone with thousands of ads.

I always do and mention in the ad that I bought it on adverts as you'll get weirdos going through your comment history to find out if you did.

Hardly weird considering your selling on a site with sales history as a feature. Also I don't see what's bad about checking a history to see if it's a business or private seller. Or your flipping it. In which case you can bargain harder.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 3,845 ✭✭✭MacDanger

Yeah, a max of say 20 ads for private sellers would be good

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,615 ✭✭✭✭Flinty997

Maybe higher because people might be on learning out a house or such. But someone doing drop selling or 5000 stickers should be able to be filtered.

But like boards, adverts stopped listening.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,688 ✭✭✭Iseedeadpixels

I have a 100+ positive feedback and clearly a private seller so going through my comment history shouldn't be needed.

They use it as a bargaining tool to try get you to lower the price which is usually less than half your asking price....Those guys I call weirdos.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,615 ✭✭✭✭Flinty997

There are people there with fake history. It's been created from one or two accounts.

If some says I'm a private seller with some sob story about a car but selling a few cars a week they aren't a private seller. It's dishonest and it's probably someone to avoid.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,157 ✭✭✭greasepalm

I am still a private seller over 450 sold and over 180 to go and still have 100% feedback with positive.

Just clearing out stuff from a closed business and home.

If they capped it i would be screwed big time.

Must be on it for 8 or more years.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,615 ✭✭✭✭Flinty997

Within 30 secs I find a seller with a 1000 active sales and 1500 sold. Listed as private.

I just want to be able filter those sellers out. Not cap them.

  • Moderators, Technology & Internet Moderators Posts: 7,563 Mod ✭✭✭✭pleasant Co.

same, obvious business sellers, would be great to filter them out

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 33,451 ✭✭✭✭AndrewJRenko

It's the drop shippers that they'd really want to get rid of. If I wanted to buy from Amazon, I'd do it directly. But I don't.

They can't be setting up each item on Adverts manually, must have some kind of automated interface to make it worth their while. So a captcha in the ad setup would be a good start.
