Dave Meltzer was saying Diaz is going to be earning a flat pay of low 7 figures. Super money

Thats some money, id take a hiding off McGregor for half that amount!!

sounds more like paddy powers than an MMA forum. forget the money lads, lets talk winners. I was looking again last night at mendes V mcgregor and mendes did manage to get a load of shots in at conor, with very short arms and range. I stick by my guess and say it will finish in a stoppage that will come in the 3rd and the ref will take over.

Diaz had some heart and front leg on him in that fight with RDA, he was battered but he stood up for the duration. I think if he feels a few hard shots he's not the type to back off either, he's a bit of kamikaze fighter that way. his leg was in bits and he was swinging it from back to front at RDA ha ha ha mad f*cker!

I defo see mcgregor winning but not nearly as emphatically as he'd like and it may force him to focus on 155 and forget welter.

I agree, there is so many unknowns here in this fight in regards Conor.Less unknowns about Diaz,he has fought at this weight before, for Conor we don't know will his power and speed translate we don't know how he will deal with someone bigger and longer than him.

Mentally he will be in a place he was rarely ever in,everyone says yeah he will be in a great place eating steaks all week etc,but basically his whole career fight week would have been a week of cooling down resting cutting weight not eating much, and it always worked for him, this time he will be in a completely different spot,so you could assume hes better but it is an unknown, maybe the weight cutting helped him focus the mind and body, but it was a preparation he was familiar with this type of situation is new to him.

I also can't see him putting Diaz away too handy i hope so but i think people underestimate how much bigger Diaz is naturally than Conor,i seen an interview with Conor this week where he was asked his weight he said he just had a steak meal and still he is slightly under weight.Diaz will be cutting significant weight even to get to 170.

    1. aldo?? who's aldo??? of course I heard of him but yes I'll bite. I said he fought penn twice because after the 2nd win, I wouldn't rate the 3rd as a fight, are you kidding?? why fight a 3rd time, how was his 2nd win even in question, penn simply was terrible, no stamina!! sure he went missing on the drink for this fight and the GSP one too, he was off the rails before Diaz sent him out home.

    2. I agree Maynard was a great win for him, especially considering Maynard was supposed to be above welter weight walking out on the night, I'd never take that from Edgar, I have edgar up as one of the best ever, he has a great heart for cardio and a great heart in the fight, I just feel even after the Henderson fight, his one time aura was slipping. I'm not going to get into an argument with a Frankie Edgar personal statistician and I do concede to almost all your points, I just feel having watched him clock up all that mileage, YES It's my opinion, his best years are past em and the fighters coming up now can deal more with his stamina, which the heavier guys struggled with, he musta thrown and landed 10 punches for every one of maynards.

    3. anyway, he'd be goosed fighting mcgregor at this stage, not a fact just my own personal opionion is all.

    4. will I be getting my official edgar fan club button still? :o

    1. - Agree the 3rd BJ fight was nowhere near a contest. The "you may have heard of him" wasn't directed as any kind of dig, just a roundabout way of saying that he is obviously a very high level competitor that Frankie ran close. Relevant to the point that he has been fighting at the top level against opponents that have been consistently top class and/or much bigger.

    2. - Again, my only point is I can;t see how his "one time aura is slipping". Only fights he has lost in a long time have been against Jose and Bendo (and some would say he won 2 of those 3) and has consistently beaten the best since. Also he's no older than many of the current champions. I take your point that he has taken a bit of a beating up to this point though but I'm not sure that it has slowed him down though.

    3. - Agreed.

    4. - Already in the post! ;)

Think your looking to much into the weight to be honest basically it's too lightweights minus the weight cut, one in shape the other remains to be seen. Diaz is bigger but not really a lightweight who uses it to his advantage and overpowers opponents his body frame doesn't help.

just looking at countdown to UFC and am even more wary of diaz as a counter punching threat, his arms go on for days and consider conor mcgreogor has dominated using his boxing, with a shorter reach he's going to have some time getting in and getting out scott free. I'm defo sticking to my 3rd round prediction and McGregor to win with stoppage, fighting fitness will be the deciding factor here I think really. I don't think his power will count for as much with Nate, having been weather beaten and taken some heavy shots whilst standing in his long carrier.

this fight has the potential to send CMCG running back to 155 or 145 in truth. I mean if you had your ass handed to you by Diaz, would you still "like the sound of that WW belt"... by jasus I'm dying to be wrong cos it would be phenomenal in every sense of the word and what a mental edge it would give on RDA even though diaz took it at late notice. early knockout or stoppage would be sensational.

He's not fighting a welterweight though.
Yes he's fighting at the welterweight limit but an actual welterweight fighter would probably weigh close to 190lbs in a fight not a tad over 170 like these two will.

i know but even this crack of "ah me sparring partners are about 170lbs".
they're not trying to take his head off in the same way the male boxers rousey was "sparring" weren't.

yeah I get what you're saying alright but even call it 170lbs weight fight, it;s still not a weight he's ever actually COMPETED at, so it's new to him. he doesn't even know how he'll perform. he thinks he does but again, under competition, who knows how he will!!

saying that, it never bothered silva Vs bonner!! whne you're sharp you;re sharp and as he says, they're tiny gloves!

I think thats what most people don't seem to get on the face of it,yeah its 2 Lightweights fighting at Welterweight, but Diaz will be close to 190 in the fight he doesn't walk around 170 like Conor he walks around closer to 200.

He has said it plenty of times that the cut to 55 kills him and he has been fighting the weight off for his whole career, and is always talking of going up in weight,he did have a few fights at WW already,he is a big guy, look at that interview from 2010 said it only takes him a week to get to 190.Thats 2010.

yeah it's amazing how clear this can get through the media fog, once you do the math. on this basis, I dunno, this will be a huge test for mcgregor, biceps or not!!

For fans of Diaz and i know a good priced loser is the same as a bad priced one if he loses, but if you were a fan of Diaz in this fight you are getting amazing value.I seen 4/1 in places.

I obviously hope Conor has the speed and ability to negate the obvious size disadvantage he will have,i couldn't possibly bet against Conor but that is amazing value because imo, this is a big test the way it has played out.

Conor might go in there maybe has a massive speed edge and works him over we don't know, but i think he could easily go in there and find Diaz just too big,too long, people don't realise this is by far the biggest guy Conor ever faced, and to face the biggest guy you ever fought who also is a very legit top
    contender,is a big ask.

Had the fight been at Lw he had a far better chance by making Diaz squeeze
down to 55,now i think Diaz could come in with a hefty weight advantage fight night considering i seen Conor say in an interview that after plenty of big meals he is still under 170.

Just seen promo Joe Rogan talking bout conor, it very true. Conors 1st ever to combine star power and thrash talk and be able back it all up.

Like Anderson aldo both amazing fighters but no star power

Chael rampage star power but never the best

Said it in the previous thread but I strongly disagree with the notion that these are just two LWs fighting at WW.

We have one fighter who made FW just over 2 months ago and another who has repeatedly struggled to make 155.

Not cutting down to 155 helps Diaz here, just like it would help McGregor fighting a Edger/Aldo at 155. The bigger guy gets the benefit as he doesn’t have to damage himself as much with the cut.

I'm surprised by the discussion going on. I think mcgregor is going to steamroll him. Diaz to be conscious but mangled by the end of the first/second and stopped by TKO in the second/ third.

I agree, I just dont see Diaz troubling Conor.. I honestly hope I'm wrong and that he's in good shape and puts up a good fight but I'm convinced it's just a payday for him.

Closer this fight gets the more disappointed I am that Dos Anjos got injured.

Diaz doesn't look motivated enough to win to me. He might give old mystic a fright briefly but i expect Conor to sleep him within three rounds.

You'd swear Nate Diaz was some bum 10 days notice or not not a miss match whatsoever the 2nd best fighter hes fought in the ufc by a long way.

I can’t view twitter links here so I’m not sure if it’s been posted but Brian Stann retweeted a pic of Diaz photo session for the fight and he definitely didn’t look like he was in skinny fat guy mode either. I’m also surprised by how much people think it’ll be some sort of walkover. If McGregor wins this as easy as many think it’ll still be a serious statement.

Conor to walk out and slap Diaz across the face
Then the two boys to slug it out like the mad fcukers they are

    That is an interesting prediction.

What if Conor gives him the middle finger before the bell, then stockton slaps him in the first exchange. :pac::pac::pac:
