Gonna be Easy money on Diaz with all the blinkered McGregor fans betting against him driving the price out. Lovely stuff.

Or we could just accept that he got out classed by a superior fighter and move on.

but he wasn't, round 1 would tell you that - he took it for granted, jumped too much weight, thought he would walk it and went all El Chapo on things, he needs to go back to what lead him to being where he was, hard work and unpredictable

We could if he had actually faced a superior fighter. Diaz is good but nothing special. If McGregor prepares right for a rematch and fights intelligently, he should win it.

The ease in which Diaz dealt with McGregor suggests he is a superior fighter alright, there is literally no evidence of anything else going from the first fight.

Also, apparently the story from good old reliable MMA source TMZ is a load of balls and the videos, photos taken at the mural were a few hours after Dana supposedly stormed out of a restaurent during a meeting with Nate

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 30,323 ✭✭✭✭Zero-Cool

Also TMZ (the wikipedia of mma journalism) reported that Dana was visibly upset during their lunch with Nate and stormed out of the restaurant. Ariel said the pics they took together in front of the mural were after the lunch so couldn't have been that bad. I wonder what's going on...

    Edit: Devastator with the RNC

I bet Nate demanded mega money :)

Maybe he was after the same money as McGregor? He has a lot more power to dictate terms this time round.

When is Nick Diaz back? It would make a lot of sense to push Connor vs Nate back until Nick is back or has a fight lined up. Try and get some of that Nate love from the media and new fans onto Nick.

Do you mean on the same card? I can't see that happening. The 2 lads don't seem to want to step on eachothers coat tails. I think with the extra love Nate has been getting some of that should naturally rub off onto Nick, IF he wants it. I think Nick's due back late summer.

Following up from yesterday's post, the MMA encyclopedia, TalksMainlyZhite, have now obtained a video from inside the restaurant where Nate met with Dana & Lorenzo. They're still running with their Dana agreesively stormed out story but their video only shows a very friendly start to the meeting....I suppose the only person in Stockton with a smartphone mustn't have had their phone fully charged :p

Dana has confirmed it didn't go well. he posted this on twitter.
It's a screen shot from a journo. The comment above is probably an old text that Dana didn't reply to

I like how the previous message was ignored so he decided to open this conversation in a more roundabout way!

Diaz should demand more than Mcgregor imo, maybe thats what he did :D

They need him for this fight more than Conor imo...Conor will pull impressive numbers regardless, but only him vs Diaz will pull the highest given the controversy surrounding it....

Regardless we've already seen this fight, and we know the result...Nate Diaz on his worst day beats Conor McGregor ...the evidence supports this

Yeah seen that myself, it was to Brett Okama(or something). "wasn't a good day" could mean he got the sh*ts after a dodgy curry....which could also explain any sudden exit from the restaurant! lol

The fact Conor will pull huge numbers means they don't need Diaz as muh as Conor. I any other fight, Diaz isn't a draw, he has nothing to leverage with. and despite winning the last time, he doesn't deserved more. Worth isn't based on ability.

I think its a bit weird to say to evidence says Nate always wins when he was clearly losing for the first round, and beyond. Sure he should be favourite. But there is almost never a sure thing in MMA, and a sure thing will never lose a round.
Nate wasn't a sure thing the last time. And he isn't one this time.

MMA fans/bookies are in general far too results based. After the fact, in any fight that isn't a close decision, they convince themselves that that was the only outcome.

Conor always defeating Chad at 189 for example...Simple not true, Chad very nearly finished that.
Conor always KO's Aldo...We've no idea what could of happen.

I'll be interested to see where the odds go once this fight is announced.

I meant for this fight...they need Nate... Conor was the one who wanted it not him...so it's Nate who's calling shots as to whether it happens imo.

The evidence suggests that Conor was training for a title fight against a tougher opponent (imo, although few would argue that) and nate took the fight on a few days notice...I don't buy the weight story either that so many people used

Conor walks around and trains at that weight.. he couldn't take Diaz's shots.... Panicked, went down and got beat on again.. Before giving the back to him....Conors shots didn't phase Diaz yet two clean ones from him was the beginning of the end

I totally agree it's unpredictable... But from what we've seen...logically Nate is the superior fighter... So while not a sure thing... I'd be 85/15 in Diaz favour...

That's just my opinion of course, but it is evidence based

Why was I even quoted in that? I didn't say Nate Always wins.

I would like to know what someones evidence is to hold the belief that Conor is the superior fighter, going off that first fight. The only evidence we have is that Conor threw everything he had, Nate was never in trouble and finished him with ease. To me that is evidence of him being the superior fighter from what we have seen.

I didnt say evidence says Nate always wins
I didnt say Nate was a sure thing
I didnt mention sure things at all
I didnt discuss the rematch at all
I didnt mention any other fights
    I didnt mention bookies

I've tried to figure it out but I simply have no idea why you included me in the post. You didnt actually address the post you quoted at all either.....

    I dunno.

So you think McGregor is about a 6/1 chance.

I'd like some of those odds.

I wouldn't put money on him to win anyway that's for sure

His confidence has been knocked as well...that's why he didn't show up to the press events either

I can only see this ending one way...maybe a slightly longer fight put still a submission from Diaz

Surely at 6/1 you must think that is value though do you or do you think he's going into Leslie Smith v Cyborg territory!

Fair dues to Diaz. He should get a huge pay day out of this, as he agreed to fight on short notice on the first day. The reality is that it is a sellers market, not a buyers one. Conor is asking for the rematch and that makes diaz the person with the most negotiating power.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,405 ✭✭✭Lukker-

Nate Diaz will never get a pay day as big as this again. One thing negotiating, another throwing it away. Interesting to see how it plays out.

I just can't see him beating Diaz on any level

On their feet he cannot hurt or phase Diaz... And Diaz rocked him with a jab and a cross...says it all really

On thr ground... Well Conor doesn't stand a chance there

Unless he stays back and just picks shots the whole fight...but even then he missed so many the last time...his accuracy wasn't that great

    So..the evidence suggests it's a no go

And I don't gamble tbh...maybe a game of poker here and there..so that's not really relevant to me

Do you think he has a 0% chance of winning?

    Diaz 85-90%
    Mcgregor - 10-15%

That's just how I see it...the last fight said it all imo

Diaz is 10/11 you must be backing him at that price then surely? Thats like getting 2/1 on a coin flip!
