It's the fight everyone wants now because it was dangled in front of you then snapped away.
If it was built as Aldo v McGregor for UFC200 or Edgar v Mcgregor then all of a sudden it was cut from the card you'd want it back.

    would agree with that.

Front Row Brian reckons it was not an attempt to mislead the public, more a sarcastic dig at Lorenzo and Dana.

It's going to get worse before it gets better, folks.

Yes, that's exactly what I'm saying.

Most of the talk was about just why this fight was even happening and why it was that Conor was not defending his belt. There were even calls for him to be stripped of it. Here's just a selection of posts from this forum on the days surrounding the announcement of the rematch:

Without question the vast majority of posts I seen either here, or on Twitter, on Podcasts, under YT vids, other forums etc etc, were all showing a meh attitude to the fight. It wasn't until this whole debacle kicked off with the 'Thanks for the cheese' tweet that the balance shifted and suddenly the majority of postings about the fight were positive about it happening. Which is what, imo, has fueled most of the conspiracy theories. It was seen as bizarre to have this rematch as the top of the card fight at UFC 200 and now it's the opposite and the majority are saying that no other fight can save it. Interesting turn of events, wouldn't you say.

+1 This is exactly what happened:

Fight announced : No one wants to see this sh1t. Conor needs to go back to 145

Fight cancelled : OMG the world is ending. I demand you put this fight back on. 200 is nothing without this fight.

Add to that the fact that McGregor can't exactly go heavy on bravado having had the snot knocked out of him last time and neither him nor the UFC want him sitting answering questions when he's on the back foot and the excuse for missing his media duties was ideal. Hope he gets the win next time and get the hype train rolling again.

'' Status quo, I'm told. Nothing has changed. Was/is some dialogue and hope but alas ... ''

Asked on update from Conors tweet....
    @Arielhelwani

Wait a second - 'Status Quo'!! One of their biggest hits was 'Whatever You Want' and it seems like we all want this fight to happen.

Now, maybe this is a crazy conspiracy theory, but it's obvious that this is Ariel's way of telling us that the fight is back on without actually telling us. That's it, I'm booking by flights and hotel for UFC 200 straight away!

Wait a God damn second. And people laughed at me when I said this fight might take place here.

Sat Oct 29th. Look who's playing the 3Arena!! I knew we'd been had!!

I don't know I read it as confirming he's retired and that both him and McGregor have joined the Army with the obvious Status Quo reference.

This is how it is for me personally.

I wasn't exactly jumping out of my seat with excitement for McGregor v Diaz. I would've preferred to see McGregor rematch Aldo or Edgar.

Now however, I want McGregor v Diaz more than I did before

Yeah I wasn't enamoured with the rematch either, especially as of appears to be a poor matchup. But the fact both of them are massive personalities is a massive sale.

Personally I want to see McGregor vs anyone at 155.

I think he's just far too good for anyone currently in the 145 div.

I think the reality is that 200 is nothing without McGregor. Not McGregor vs Diaz.

It's gonna be a loooooong 2 and a bit months til this may or may not happen.

Dana could wake the fruck up (literally) and put the latest McGregor gibberish to task.

Even Frankie Edgar? Edgar would still be a top 5 LW easily and would handle Diaz no problem.

Yeah I meant to mention Edgar - obviously we won't know until he fights him

Not sure if posted, but according to the guys who took the photos, the plane is leaving the US.

Of course, it could be BS also

Most logical explanation is that it stopped in Iceland on the way back to Ireland.

Next announcement from White (will be):

Conor came in, did the promo video. All's good and we're back on. He's only gonna show up fight week

No the guy who is cited as taking the photo, is an Irish student, studying abroad in USA, and that plane was leaving America and flying to Dublin hes said in the related tweets.

Earliest flight from NYC to Dublin is 1730 US time. That's still nearly 5 hours away.

Not sure about other US cities, but the photo could be an old one!

EDIT: The guy who took the photo claimed to be on a Washington flight. Left yesterday evening US time, arrived in Dublin early this morning.

Dana has confirmed the fight is still off

Dana White told the Los Angeles Times in a text message that a deal for a return is “not true. We haven’t talked [to] Conor or his manager since the press conference. I don’t know why he would tweet that.”

Strange one. I really don't think Conor has just randomly woke up and decided to lie to the world. I hope not anyway.

Yes, it wouldn't be like him to do that.

Well except last week when he did it.
