It was like yer man caught for drink driving the other night, only for there were bottles being flung out the window of the car he'd probably have gotten away with it.

Do all squad cars now have ANPR or is it still only traffic surely now with what seems like the huge increase in uninsured drivers it's time to equip all vehicles..

No not all. Hyundai i30 can't fit equipment.

Focus , Mondeo had no problem.

Some i40 have fitted, vectra going around and new insignias.

Don`t know its been resolved yet but up until recently a major issue was the insurance companies werent regularly updating the ANPR registers/passing on the information making ANPR next to useless.

07 Mondeo on n11 earlier with the gun out catching as you drive away. They were in new town on ramp.

Funny thing is everyone was booting it past so must have been looking for anything well over 120km/h and that's a 100km/h limit.

Guards are getting off their fat useless arses now they know half the country can't afford to pay 100% increases in insurance costs.

Rotten shower. They have to be one of the worst forces in the world. Hiding behind bushes trying to screw people over even more. Hate the sight of every last one of them.

Was offered a job driving one of those trucks last summer.

I turned it down as it was quiet at the time.

    Hindsight is a great thing.

Almost €5k a week in Dublin in 2011.
I am advised by the Garda authorities that the contract for the towing of seized vehicles in the Dublin North Division was awarded to Gannon City Recovery and Recycling Services Ltd in 2009 for a period of three years. Under the contract costs associated with the use of recovery trucks are fixed irrespective of the time of a call out.
I am further advised that the relevant cost of towing vehicles in 2011 amounted to €255,285.

If they keep this up, it might be the solution to traffic congestion

That is a well known spot with no way back. Sharman crawford street. Good to see these seizures though. The more the better for the rest of us paying extortionate premiums/tax etc.

Sadly 90% of these cars will be back on the road only a couple of hours after they are taken, you can pick them up straight away!

You can pick them up after paying the towing fee and the driver must have insurance or it must be taken on a truck.
