    The important part
Members of the cartel are expected to fly into Dublin this week for the Clash of the Clans Championship Boxing taking place in the National Stadium. The event will feature boxers from Daniel Kinahan’s MGM gym based on the Costa del Sol.
Gerard Kavanagh’s son Jamie Kavanagh will fight for the WBO European Lightweight Championship against Portugal’s Antonio Joao Bento at the event on Saturday.

    "and fired a number shots"

Aren't independent supposed to be one of the more respected news outlets in Ireland? Jesus, do we not aspire to have a good command of written English in this country anymore?

It's a story in progress being reported on, and they omitted a preposition. Calm down Chicken Licken.

Not sure when anyone last referred to the Indo as respectable. That ship, such as it was, has long since sailed.

The Independent is shocking though, they really do excel when it comes to typos. A lot of the time it seems they don't even bother to run a spellcheck before publishing.

Not in this universe, no. In fact, most of the staff seem to be nearly as illiterate as the skangbangers who tend to be drawn towards boxing in Ireland like flies to shite. :pac:

No wonder we have so many rags in Ireland when people like this accept and condone the mediocrity.

I can just picture someone in the office typing as quickly as possible to get the 'article' published, desperately trying to be ahead of the pack, attempting to get those early, easy clicks in.

Really sticking it up to the Americans and their oh-so-fake melees at the press conference/weigh-ins in Vegas hotels.

On a serious note - pretty dodgy doing a hit on a hotel.
Likely to be lots of innocent bystanders about.
Pretty sure that hotel is used for emergency accommodation too for homeless families, so kids could have been about the foyer too.

It's the paper for stupid people who think they're too smart for the Daily Star.

Have you never seen the articles in the indo online about stories that feature on Liveline while they're still being talked about on Liveline?

Apparently the father and uncle of one of the boxers were previously shot. Possibly gangland related.

Maybe the two Kinahan brothers were the target. Remember their gang has killed a number of Dublin criminals over the past couple of years so there's bound to be people out there looking for revenge.

Well I figured if I wrote "definitely gangland related" I'd get an equally smart comment saying : "you don't know the facts. Stop jumping to conclusions!"

We can all make up our own minds.

Ah, here's me thinking it was just one of those run of the mill shootings allegedly involving automatic weapon.

High fives all around in Garda HQ. Must be great to do no policing, and let all the filth kill each other.....but then what about the innocent bystanders who miraculously never seem to get shot in the firing line....

Reading the various newspaper stories on this, reports of Ak-47s being used to fire a number of shots indiscriminately into the crown and that the attackers were wearing police uniforms. Scary stuff!

A certain inner city family not lying down and taking it anymore?

I'm hoping that's just headline grabbing rubbish.

Another article said they went in and pick their targets. Could roughly guess the targets, ei the three of them!!
