Happened back in November if I recall correctly due to extensive fog at Dublin, I too see it when the winter storms occur. Its very rare alright!

RYR8LU (FR1024) diverting to Shannon now too.

Cork will not accept anymore diversions, Shannon or nothing.

He's now doing a 180 from fox outers into golf to face the back up the fox outers. Seems they missed there turn.

    Form an orderly queue everyone...

11 in the queue now, a 12th coming. Busy morning.

I'm flying out tomorrow morning and theres more fog forecast. Horray.

Not only DUB this morning either. FR9884 holding at LDY due to fog there.
FR611 holding over Aldergrove for LDY too.

Thats standard for heading down to apron 6 if there is traffic on the apron, you'll notice lots of aircraft do it during the day also, there's only one way in and out of there

First Diversion of the morning, FR9996 PMI-DUB diverting to SNN.

AA are going to wait another 5 minutes, if they don't get down then they will be heading to SNN too.

Also diverted to SNN this morning was UA970 ORD-FCO. Got airborne again a half hour ago after a 2 hour stop

With all these diversions due to fog last night, is this an example of the fog someone was talking about a few months ago, where some jetstream hits a certain point in the Irish Sea, and just goes straight over DUB?

As one of the other posters in D16 said, I'm in D14, and great evening yesterday

Medical emergency was the reason for divert.

Easyjet A320 routing NCL-BFS diverted to Dublin due to thunderstorms overhead Aldergrove, landed around 14:15 first time I have ever seen Easyjet at Dublin and a nice sharklet equipped model :)

Looking to the north towards Aldergrove now there are solid slate-grey clouds. Fearsome sight.

Yeah. Last time was around Christmas, the crew had done 20 minutes holding at Aldergrove then shot a missed approach, they came straight into EIDW for Runway 16 and if they didn't make the approach they were going to declare an emergency, all went fine thankfully.

Lots of inbound aircraft holding at the moment, nothing landing, anyone know what is going on?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,793 ✭✭✭Bsal

Low visibility procedures are in operation due to low cloud base, slows everything up.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 194 ✭✭daelight

Checking RWY10 for CAT III due to low vis.. 20 - 30 mins holding.. Looks like 10 is ok for approaches shortly. Will be an interesting night.

Diversions already starting, long night ahead for some people.

FR5775 going to SNN, EI499 and EI779 also look to be doing the same.
