Aaaaaand by technical issue they mean one of Westairs Aztecs is currently being attended to by multiple fire appliances who have laid a blanket of foam down due to fuel leak from both wings after a runway excursion, potentially due to the nose gear collapsing! Pilot walked away from what I heard.

Very strange that they'd say "technical issues" in that case, it would be almost a blatant lie.

Closed until at least 18:25z according to air traffic control, light aircraft nose collapsed on runway (as above)

Nothing else due in for nearly 4 more hours, I'd say that's it for Cork.

They didn't say who had the technical issue.

Falcon 900 N428DR holding now at level 240 at TIPUR, in from Bari.

EI-DVM getting ready to depart Cork too as EI994

Runway reopened. N428DR now on final approach.

    EI-DVM currently positioning ORK-LHR as EIN994 to operate this evening's EI387 LHR-SNN. EI386 SNN-LHR was cancelled.

EI-GXG positioning ORK-SNN as RYR585, looks like it'll operate a heavily delayed FR3327 to Krakow.

Nights like these are always the fun ones to fly Stobart, BHX to DUB had a go around and hold while the CFN flight landed. Similar size Saab 340A is having a go now.

Dublin ops have switched to RWY 16

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,822 ✭✭✭✭flazio

2 flights landed on RWY 16, they are switching back to 28

Tomorrow will make for some interesting landing conditions around the country. SNN and CRK showing gusts of 58kts and DUB gusts of 48kts. Wind speeds throughout the day are quiet high.

    CRK?

    Simple mistype should read ORK.

Bizzarely, the 5am TAF has Shannon's max gust as 48kts. Understating in my opinion.

EI381 LHR-SNN holding north of Shannon.

There's a Pilatus originating from Laval in France circled over Kanturk, wonder if it's going to Kerry Airport.

    Edit: yep, landed at Kerry

Just gone around. Didn't think the winds were THAT bad at Shannon already

    Missed approach now.

Gusting to 38kts on the 11:30am METAR, making another approach, aircraft reported that it became unstable as the end of the shower pushed through.

General question but is RWY 07/25 in ORK long enough for FR and EI jets to land on if the crosswinds are too strong on 16/34?

C-GMCR Gulfstream 550 on approach to Kerry now

Unusually busy day for private traffic at this time of the year, especially given the storm

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭Chris_5339762

No, sadly. Crosswind runway in Cork is for Stobarts etc only. Too short for jets.

FR665X not far behind it watching and listening closely I'd imagine.

Gulf jet is in. Next up is the Ryanair.

  • Registered Users Posts: 5,851 ✭✭✭Chris_5339762

Ryanair seems to be in fine.

Wind at 1pm was just 25kts no gusts, at 1:30 it was 23kts gusting 33kts, no significant crosswind, nothing severe enough to stop operations.
