    There's no insurance since the floods of 2009. Since then there's been total inaction. Compare that with all the work done in Dublin on the Dodder since 2009 (just look at Ballsbridge) and you'll see where they spend the money.

    The bogs have a lot to do with it. Drained to the limit, so they can't act as a sponge. Run off of loose peat blocks the rivers up. Simply blocking a lot of the bogs and trying to return them to what they were would do a lot.

    As a poster said above, cleaning drains would do something but the personnel and money isn't there.
