Another mild day with the temp between 11 and 12 throughout; after rain mainly cleared and the clouds parted it eased back to 10C near midnight.

199.2mm for the month so far...must be some sort of record for here!

Weather station let me down again (well, what a surprise). Showing little or no rain for the last two days, while spare rain gauge (DIY bucket) showed approx. 60-70 mm of rain for the same period. Same with wind, of course.

Wind last night and this morning from Frank nothing special, but it's managed a total of 19.2mm so far today and it's still falling.

Overnight high 13.3C....but it seems that we are finally reaching the end of the extraordinary temperatures; fell rapidly during the morning and cloud broke to give a cool sunny afternoon before heavy showers from 8pm onwards.

Currently raining cats'n'dogs and 4.4C.

Wettest and warmest on record. Relatively sunny.

Rainfall: Wettest month on record.
Rainfall total of 210.2mm was 350% of the LTA and it was my wettest month on record beating the previous record of 194.2mm set in October 2011. Rainfall was very evident throughout the month with a total of only 3 completely dry days (0mm of rainfall) - my lowest for any December on record. I recorded 7 very wet days (10mm or more) with my highest daily fall of 36.5mm recorded on the 12th, my highest daily fall for December since 2002. I recorded 21.2mm on Christmas Day, my wettest Christmas on record. I recorded a fall of 31.3mm as early as the 3rd. Any dry spells were very short and limited during the month {11th, 16th, 27th}. Since I recorded 3 dry days, I recorded 28 wet days - my highest for any month on record. However, overall despite the record breaking total and number of wet days, December didn't break any rainfall records (such as highest daily fall).

Temperature: Warmest December on record.
I recorded a mean temperature of 8.5c, +4.4c above the LTA during December which is my highest for December on record. Over 25 of the days recorded maximum temperatures of 10c or more, compared to the average of just 6 whilst 4 of the days recorded minimum temperatures of 10c or more which was well above the average of 0 (I expect no such temperatures in an average December). I recorded my maximum of 15.8c on the 19th, my second highest for December on record behind 16.7c in December 2007. On the 1st, though, I broke my record for highest minimum temperature on record with a minimum of 12.5c. The 17th and 19th both recorded temperatures of 15c or more, well above the average of 0 days (I don't expect such temperatures in an average December). My minimum of -1.5c on the 27th - my only frost during the month was my highest for December since 2013.

Sunshine: Relatively sunny but still dullest December since 2002.
Sunshine total of 56 hours was 117% of the LTA and was still my dullest December since 2002, comparing with recent sunny Decembers from 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2012 and 2014. I recorded 12 dull days, my third highest for December on record after 2002 and 2013. Sunshine was unevenly distributed through the month with the second half being far sunnier than the first. I recorded my sunniest day, however, during the first half on the 11th with 5.5 hours, my sunniest December day since 2010. I recorded 6 very sunny days (days with 3 hours or more) which is about average for December. Overall, December wasn't anything remarkable for sunshine.
