    I reckon low 40s.

A coupe in Msport plus spec and all it’s worst depreciation done - if my younger single petrolhead days were anything to go by, this won’t last a week on the market.

    Yeah

just looking at the video again. It’s a lovely car. Digital dash too which makes the interior more up to date.

I think I would just add black exhaust tips and de badge it.

Private sale 2018 440i, snapper rocks blue but wrapped....he obviously didn't fancy the snapper rocks! Very ambitiously priced for a private sale at 48k. Can't see that selling anywhere close to that, even with good spec. 40k would even be a stretch.

Incredibly low mileage, only 25,000 kms and almost 4 years old. About €1.75/km in depreciation alone. That’s some expensive bread and milk if you need to head down to the shop :)

    A 2018 Golf R is about 45k now so I think it’s about right. I know what I’d rather.

That’s the same ex “BMW first” car that bolands and then MorrisonBMW sold a few times over the last couple of years and we have discussed on here.

it’s continuing to appreciate if the current owner gets near his asking price. Very optimistic.

Wow good spot, thats the car I almost bought from Boland's? That's been around the block now. I also think the wrap does not help a car like that and takes away from it's value.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 20,922 ✭✭✭✭Cyrus

im not sure what it is but being parked on grass never gives me the warm fuzzies either for some reason,

but i agree, a wrap would generally put me off.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,595 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

Indeed, it will have as many owners as mileage one of these days. I wouldn't personally be fond of all the aftermarket stuff either.

I agree. I think the owner has made the car less attractive with the mods done.

the colour of the wrap is no better than the snapper rocks blue.

I do wonder though why that car never seems to stay in the same ownership for long?

The 440i in Morrisons is an Oz import according to someone who enquired on backroads.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,595 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

I was thinking maybe southern hemisphere alright, little or no need for heated seats down there. Middle East would generally be too hot for leather seats unless they were cooled.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,818 ✭✭✭carsfan2

I was miles out here. They have it up for 46k.

its got a decent spec and has 60k km on it but that seems a lot to me.

I suppose just a reflection of the times we are in.

That's a cracking looking car.....except for the rear as he says.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,558 ✭✭✭JoeA3

They finally produce a new car with a pretty face but the grill designers were let loose on the rear end of this one!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,595 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

Yeah they made a real dog's dinner of that rear. M240i starts from 75k here before you start going at the equipment packs and options but I suppose it's not overly expensive in today's car market given the likes of a Golf R now starts at just over 70k.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,558 ✭✭✭JoeA3

if you don't need the Golf's rear doors / hatch practicality, this car would surely be the one to pick of the 2.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 51,595 ✭✭✭✭bazz26

Yeah, very few 2/3 door options out there now. The options list is where they will catch you though. I'd doubt very few will just order a base car. Very easy to turn a 75k car into a 85k.

Its mad but I think the exact opposite of what the govt/green agenda thought would happen with the VRT increases in happening. Demand might be down for new performance cars as they are pushed out of reach of many joe soaps but the ones that will sell will hold value extremely well.

In the used market prices for performance ICE cars have gone through the roof, I know that's a combination of covid/WFH savings and Brexit too. I think the cars that will depreciate the most in the coming years are diesels that families and reps will want to offload for Electric.

The space between full M car and these M lites is getting smaller and smaller. The little touches like wing mirrors and seats beng reserved for the top model matter I think. I remember over twenty years ago being sat supermarket car park and copping there was an M3 parked behind us as I could see the oval rounder rear view mirror...

Anyway, BMW are there to make money so probably know better but the halo cars lose their specialness with these changes imo.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 4,129 ✭✭✭sk8board

It’s back to the same argument really - who is the buyer for the brand new performance stuff these days and do they care about what the propulsion system is.

    €140k m4 versus €90k 440i versus €85k i4 m50.

I think you’ll see the ‘taycan’ effect will kill whatever remains of the m4/3 sales here.

I just came across a Farmer Michael post on Facebook. What type of BMW is this he now owns or is it still the same car just without the wrap. He had previously a M4. I don't know enough about BMW's to spot which model it is so hopefully some of you knowledgeable guys can tell.

edit: It's a different car as his last M4 was a coupe.

    That’s the previous generation M3

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,818 ✭✭✭carsfan2

    M3 competition I think.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,309 ✭✭✭✭wotzgoingon

Thanks he is going wrapping it too. I think it would look better that colour.

He must have had trouble carrying people with the two door coupe so said he would go 4 door this time.

I just watched the joe Achilles and autogefuel reviews of the m240i. Both impressed. The Irish times gave it 5/5 which is rare too. Looks like they have nailed it with this car. Such a pity it’s so expensive here and probably costly to run. I’m not sure about the purple colour though it possibly looks better in the metal.

It's an F80 M3 Competition. Brought from NI, as far as I am aware he would qualify for a VRT exemption

its a stunner in fairness, its like the 2 series capture more of the essence of the old m sports than the bigger cars.
