Ordered the 150mb package this evening on web chat with unlimited calls to Local, Mobile and UK, Install date for 26th May looking forward to it now.
Just wondering is FFTH the highest speeds available in Ireland, does anywhere in Dublin have higher speeds?

    Don't think so.

Sky telling a neighbour they'll be reselling Eir FTTH "when it goes live in our area" (it's been live weeks already).
i take it this is porkies (in the short term anyways) ?
How long till they will resell it I wonder ?

Sky are telling a load of porkies, Sky don't even sell FTTH in the UK apart from one 'test' area in York. They only resell ADSL and FTTC in the UK and Ireland.

Openeir and Siro both offer 1Gb download speeds with 100Mb up for Openeir and 150Mb up for Siro. These are the fastest residential speeds available in Ireland at present. Neither of them are widely available in Dublin.

I think Sandyford/Stepaside is the only part of Dublin that has FTTH?

edit: apart from Ballyboden which is on the rural rollout.

That is FTTC and not FTTH is it not?

If you enter your phone number at a FTTH enabled address the bundles page turns into FTTH

And Rathcoole which is a village, also part of the rural project.

When I was cancelling Sky the rep got in a huge argument with me saying why did you go with Eir sure we'll be selling fibre there is a few weeks. I just said are you selling it now? Nope so good luck.

Also when ordering the Eir Fibre the agent gave me great advice, said don't mess about. Just order Fibre, let them install it then ring 1901 and change your package. You have 14 days do swap it around to what you want. Cancelling orders, trying to mess with phone lines etc is just causing more problems than it is worth.

you dont have the 14 days if you signed up with a agent face to face just incase they might be saying so, its 1 of the reasons eir have the agents/reps on the ground getting you to sign contracts as otherwise you could sign up online get the free install of the fibre and cancel it within the 14 days distance selling rules, are they going to uninstall the fibre cable ?

With regards to Sky I saw an ad for their fibre broadband and at the end I thought I was reading up to 1000 Mbs. I surfed their website and I saw no reference to this speed. I would like to see that ad again to make sure wether it's only up to 100 and not 1000 Mbs.

There is a distinct lack of work in progress of putting up fibre cables in my area in North East Co. Limerick. I'm talking mainly about the Pallasgreen and Crossagalla exchange areas in the last couple of weeks. There is no sign of work commencing in the Inch St Lawernce area as it is down for Summer/Autumn 17. Are they putting up fibre cables in Swords Co. Dublin not due until winter 17 according to another post in this thread?

In a perfect world they should scrap the FUP altogether as it makes Eir look better, more customer friendly, more likely hood for customers to stay with Eir. The FUP is petty, especially considering many customers don't go over it, it's just really annoying knowing that the FUP is there, and gives you a reason to check the data allowance.

If another reseller joins the party and offers proper true unlimited usage, many of us here will move to that provider when contracts are up just to have no FUP and Eir would lose out on a certain % of customers because of the FUP.
At the end of March, according to Minister Naughton, Eir had 'passed' over 40,000 homes, but only connected about 1,400. The last thing Eir needs is greater demand for connections at this time. Their focus in the land grab by passing homes, and actual connections are not the priority. So, I think we'll be waiting some time for more attractive offers.

Ordered the 150mb Bundle and anytime calls last night €65 per month for first four months, €75 euro afterward, but email got confirming this morning is €67 for the first four months and €77 euro afterwards, Think they increased the price because Im not on Direct Debit? Nice of them to tell me....

Direct Debit Discount: Your bundle price includes a €2 discount if you are signed up for direct debit and paperless billing.

    Rural area just outside Swords showing the following under the OpenEir Eircode Lookup Results;
"Great news. Your premises is on open eir’s 300k rural fibre rollout programme. We expect fibre broadband to be available to you by the second half of 2017."

I think it used to say winter/end 2017. Unsure if they are putting fiber in the ground yet or if it is just subduct for fiber to be pulled through later.
Anyone know if they just put fiber direct into existing underground ducts or use subducts?

Anyone have the issue where the eircode says its available at the property. Ring to order and sales person say no it's not

Anybody know how close I would need to be to the nearest exchange/cabinet to get fibre broadband? Moving house in the next 6-8 weeks and its a detached house just off the M1 motorway but I can see a cabinet and exchange fairly close by?

    Depends on what's available.
FTTH ( fibre all the way to the house) can be several KM's away or FTTC (fibre to the cabinet only then copper to the house) can only be a couple of KM's before the speed drops dramatically.

Ive had that for years. eircode says i can get it, but when i try to order it they say no.
Cabinet is 600M away. No matter what I tell them when i ring they wont give it to me. Everyone else in the are has it (FTTC) apart from my house. Tried ordering a second phone line too and it still wont support broadband.

On my road eir lads setting up a lot a cables, looking at the map it stops 300 metres before our house, what are the chances of convincing them to go further (been a customer for 10 years)

And even if they didn't do anything would I see an improvement?

What colour are you on this map? Amber, light blue or the darker blue? If you are dark blue, there is an email address on the page where you can contact DCCAE about it.

A lot of the cable is underground.

From Pallasgreen exchange (Cloverfield) to Old Pallas is all ran underground in ducts. From Old Pallas to Pallas is also all underground. Dromkeen to
Pallas will also be underground - prep work is started in clearing any blockages / collapded areas as these underground ducts have been there 30 years.

So while it seems like there is little done, there actually is a nice bit already in place.

Still waiting for my area though. The bottom of our road is done, but nothing more has happened in the last 2 weeks since the splice box was fitted at the halfway point. The whole road is due to get it, just gotta play the waiting game.... :-(

Tried everything for over 3 years. Emails them maps account numbers of next door who have efibre and the other neighbours closer and further away who have it to comprehend and any other email address I thought would help. Offered to pay for any work myself that needs to be done to the line to get it to my house. Keep getting told that computer says no. Give up at this stage. I just have meteor 4 g dongle.

This thread is becoming seriously confused by the numbers of posts and questions that relate to FTTC and not FTTH. :(

I see on my address, they stop 300 mtrs before my house I see the map shows the houses before mine are light blue which I think eir are currently doing,

Like a said a few comments back is it worth ringing and see if they would bring it the extra distance or is it a case of tough luck, even if it is would I get any increase of speed?

I don't think it's worth ringing. Tough luck I'm afraid.

Pity, we were the next house on the road :(

Would I see any speed improvement in speed with the other houses on the road upgraded ?

That's tough. I'm the 2nd last house in my area that FTTH serves. Neighbour 150m away is the last. There's a good few houses beyond him that are not being served.

The nearest of the houses not being served is around 250m from the pole splitter. So close.........

I wouldn't expect any speed improvements if you are remaining on ADSL (copper FTTC).
