I think the Fibre rollout.ie map is being update as I post. It looks like my local Exchange Inch St Lawernce is being delayed to Summer/Autumn from Spring/Summer 2017 for Ftth.

I think we kinda guess the map rollout most likely the exchange that have Autumn 2017 will probably update to Autumn/winter 2017 as long doesn't go Spring/winter 2018 the rollout should be ok.

On the other hand has there been any exchanges pushed forward?
Can't understand how Clarina went from 80 - 200 in a month - guess what team isn't getting a bonus for last month.

That true Robinstown in Meath live for FTTH and it had Spring/summer 2018 which is a surprise.I just check eir lookup on eir map say first half of 2018 and then check a eircode on Eir extreme site and say fibre to home available lol.

I'd expect a few like that - plans change on a project of this scale. But 12k is not bad at all, better than I expected. But weather is on their side now for the next couple of months - fingers crossed they speed up even more. Once we approach end of sept/oct I'd expect a slowdown to sfa happening in Nov/Dec/Jan.

More fibre lines went up in the Clarina area since first went live last February.

Castleblakeney has changed from spring/summer 2017 to summer 2017. Hopefully there won't be much slippage in the schedule from here on.

Fiber is enabled in my rural area,. Neighbour has it and the checker with eir tells me it's available in my home after entering the landline number.

However it's not showing as available to Sky who we are with and are cheaper than eir

Any idea how long it usually takes for eir to approve/update for another carrier using the eir infrastructure like Sky currently do with broadband?

Yeah I assumed that the 80 from the first month would have started late in the month, whereas last month they had the entire month. Plus I was kinda joking as the numbers are so low there that I'm fairly certain a deployment team didn't hang out there for the full month.

TIP: If you're not getting over 100Mb down check your cables.
I was very surprised how many Cat6 cables that have that are defective (somehow) and operate at 100Mb

my local exchange moved from Winter/Spring 2018 to Autumn/Winter 2017 so starting to get a bit optimistic

Neither Sky or Vodafone resell open-eir's FTTH, their decision.

Current resellers are eir, Digiweb, Pure Telecom nationwide, and regional resellers Westnet (Mayo), Net1.

Rollout map has updated text for Claregalway which had been saying May 3rd for first go lives. It now says 470 premises are now able to access FTTH. As I've mentioned, it's one of the largest exchange areas and is clearly getting a staggered rollout, as that's only a third of the 1400 total premises.

The good news is that although there weren't splitter boxes yet on my N.W. road out of the area, this morning I saw the largest collection I've spotted of KN vans and personnel round the corner from my house at the end of our line, including one guy gazing up at one of the poles. So hopefully we might be getting splitters today! :)

This was catching me too. I was using an old on from an xbox. It was never an issue when i was macing out at 4mbps :)

Now i need to invest in a new batch for the main pc & console set up.

Batterstown (near Dunshaughlin) seems to be live according to the map altho no number of premises listed. Was previously Spring/Summer 2017.

Robinstown (near Navan) seems to be also live. Was previously a dark green in development dot with Spring/Summer 2018. Also with no number of premises passed.

Could be mistakes in the update?

Good spot Gonzo. There are nine extra areas listed with FTTH available, however there are no numbers given for premises passed. Can anyone in the following areas confirm if they can or have ordered a FTTH product?

    Galway Maree
    Kerry Killerisk
    Kildare Kill
    Laois The Swan
    Meath Batterstown
    Meath Robinstown
    Offaly Clonygowan
    Offaly Gracefield
    Westmeath Bliary

Of these only Maree, Kill and Robinstown appeared in the first 100K list from Openeir. Most of them have Q2 2017 dates from my source so they most likely are live. I don't understand why there is no premises count given for them though.

As iioklo siad the map was updated earlier today. It was something of a disappointment with only three areas given due dates, all the 31st of May:

    Donegal | Fintown
    Mayo | Murrisk
    Wexford | Fethard On Sea

The spreadsheet has been updated with the revised numbers. As of today the total (excluding urban-rural) is: 34620 (32.56%).

Croom Co, Limerick has more areas being passed as we speak..

A cat 5e should get you a gig easy and over a short run a cat 5 cable should do.

    Cat 6 is for 10gig

a cat6 cable that cannot do a gig is either miss marked or piss poor quality..

    Yup. Probably the latter.

Are people on the 1Gb testing at the full 900Mb or so? I'm often around the 700, haven't hit "max speed"

I'm fairly certain I saw someone post here about a week ago hitting about 924.

Are you still on the 1000meg plan, or have you gone back to the 300 yet?

They said it might take a week to downgrade and to check in again on 11th

Still on the bug plan - upload is solid at 95

Just wondering if it's my setup or the fibre connection (both of which I can live with)

Apologies to all those still waiting - promise I'm not trolling!

Was having issues getting low speed test results at first on wired connections; was only hitting about half speed. Problem turned out to be the speed test running through browsers (Firefox, Safari, Chrome - all up to date). Downloaded the Ookla App and straight away started getting full speeds. As mentioned above CAT5e is fine for gigabit and even short CAT5 will probably work fine too.

downloaded the windows 10 speedtest app. It does seem more consistent and slightly higher speeds than what I was getting with the browser version.

Just saw a KN Group van and crew working with a manhole open and a spool of black cable near the end of my road and near one of their cabs. They use underground duct to connect from it to the end of my road and then go overhead so fingers crossed its FTTH related :) time will tell

    Update:
Took a wander to see what they had been working at as I only passed by earlier in the car.
Looks like either cable got pulled or subduct, most prob just subduct. Some poles on my road marked. The main point which the copper cable comes from the underground section to overhead to feed the road is marked with an 'L'. I think come other poles might be marked with a C or a E, couldn't get a good look. Is there a decoding list for those markings? :)

Near the old cab/FTTC location, a manhole is marked with RIB 05?
    ED E wrote: »
RIB 05 would be RIB exchange Cab 5 by normal convention, but theres no RIB exchange that I know of.

Are you on the R180 in Monaghan? Then it would be R180, Main Cable 5, Drop L.
    KeRbDoG wrote: »
Nop, off the R125 to the west of Swords.
    What's a RIB exchange?
RIB 05 stands for ribbon 05. A ribbon is the area which is being served from an exchange for fibre, so this is the fifth area to be served for fibre from this particular exchange. A ribbon is also called a supercell.

Some additional photos from a car camera, kinda crappy but show the spool of duct they had been laying - looks like a subduct to be filled with cable well later.

What exchange is this work being done in your photos? There was similar work done in the Inch St Lawernce Limerick area in the last 2 months. I was hoping for fibre cables to come out in the next couple of weeks. But it could be later in the summer or into early autumn before we see anything. I think delays may caused by that there is some bush cutting to do in spots to clear the lines. But they might not be allowed to do this work until 1 August due to bird nesting season.

My whole installation process and dealings with Eir have been an absolute disaster so far! Was supposed to get installed 2 weeks ago. Rang several times, left on hold for over 5 minutes on each call. Had to get hold of a supervisor. They kept telling me that I got installed, but it was just the KN guy wiring up my telephone again!

Eventually was told last Thursday they messed up my order and I have to cancel and then re-register. Called them yesterday and was told this still wasn't done. Got through to sales who promised they'd call me this morning with an update. Still no call yet! I'm having serious doubts about signing up to Eir!!!!

I just called again and they said they'd put an urgent request in to cancel my order and I'd have to wait another 48 hours!! FFS!!! If you don't call them, then it seems fúck all gets done. I'm dreading the call on Thursday evening.

cancel the order and maybe sign up to Digiweb instead if it's proven this difficult, plus you will also end up with a far better modem with wifi that actually works.
