    A nervous first game.

FFS, all this time waiting and they're dragging out the first game!

Roger has this won ... night...

Fed's serve looks really off so far

Roger is all nerves, can't buy a first serve

If Fed can't make these rallies shorter he is screwed.

  • Registered Users Posts: 55,183 ✭✭✭✭walshb

    Nole caught the ankle there.

Jaysus lads we don't need to keep on zooming in on it! Some of us are gorging on a late snack ffs!

Cuts and grazes seem to be affecting Novak badly here.

Still the commentators don't mention the ankle twist.

Federer is serving like a club player.

  • Registered Users Posts: 108 ✭✭Arytonblue

Looks like Wimbledon all over again, Fed's serve immaculate all tournament and it just completely abandons him the minute he's up against Djokovic, who hasn't even returned that brilliantly.

    Nole's return is unreal

Easy for him when Federers first serve percentage is 51%.
The court looks really slow tonight, conditions favour djokovic

Federer must keep in his head that he's still in this match even though he's left his first service at home and is making double the unforced errors.

In saying that, this is over in 3 I fear.

Still great return on the first serve. 15 UE count for Fed. Same old Fed when up against it. Long rallies he's getting dominated.

Peak Federer would never have produced a set like that last one. It's laughable to even entertain the idea that Federer is anywhere near as good as he used to be at his peak.

Just not good enough from Roger, Novak's a great opponent with a monster return as we all know, but Federer really handed him that first set with his awful first serve. He actually doesn't look too outmatched on the long rallies, but he's seriously got to up his game to have a chance. That fall from Novak should have given him a window to take a lead, but some of his shot selections, particularly that return on break point, have been poor enough. Don't want to have stayed up this long for a complete non-event match.

Dying at all these lobs Novak is hitting when Roger comes in on the serve.

Roger is getting decimated every time he comes into the net. Better find another tactic to keep those points shorter...

    How does he miss that

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,746 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

If Federer loses this set, it is because he threw it away.

  • Registered Users Posts: 14,674 ✭✭✭✭MisterAnarchy

Federer is playing much better now, needs to win this game though

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,015 ✭✭✭John.Icy

How did he miss that forehand.

    Flippin' hell.

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,746 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

Djokovic seems like a nice person, but it is hard to warm to him.

  • Registered Users Posts: 33,746 ✭✭✭✭RobertKK

    Woohoo Go Federer!!!!!!!

Do ye think it could be argued the crowd are slightly on Federer's side? :pac:

Federer really upped his game in that set.
Much better serving, less unforced errors, more aggressive tennis.
    Djokovic made look very ordinary
