Anyone got any experience of An Post? Came in with the best quote for me

Female, 60, 10+ no claims, no penalty points, 2010 Ford Fiesta, but have my daughter on the policy as named driver, She's 24, full licence (less than a year). An Post quoted 601 fully comp, breakdown assist, windscreen cover, step back. Currently with AA, quoting 630. They don't include breakdown assist, you have to get separate AA membership for 90. Their argument is that they are the only provider who will send a mechanic to fix your car. All others tow you to the nearest garage and you're liable for all other costs.

TBH, I've only used breakdown assist at any point for a flat battery after hols so wasn't aware of this. I find the whole process so time-consuming and frustrating. the AA have come down more than 200 on the original quote but I think you'd need a degree in insurance to understand the Ts & Cs. You think you're covered until you make a claim, grrrr.

Now quoted 587 with Cornmarket … going with them!

    Female, late 40s
BoI quoted renewal of €461.29 fully comp
Got it for €408.00 fully comp with KBC (underwritten by Zurich)
Would have been cheaper if I could have put someone else on as named driver

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,816 ✭✭✭deisedude

    Male 30
    No penalty points
    5+ years no cliams bonus
    Full license
    Drive roughly 30,000km per year
    1.6L 2013 Ford Focus

Got quoted over €700 from FBD, axa, AIB, Allianz and a few more for comprehensive

Aviva were €520 so went with them

.. use a friend's contact details. They could do the same for you and reduce it for both of you. Got to play the system!

Yeah I should have done that, the guy actually said the person did not have to be living at same address (OH has claim in) but he kind of caught me on the hop and I just wanted to get it done and dusted!

Suspect its age of car, over 14 yrs old means many in market dont want it, not sure why, renewal has to be given, but know you are limited in quotes so can bump it?

Liberty offered me insurance for 700 with car of same age. It was 1.8 petrol, though, so maybe Lexus is at different scale.

This over 10 years old rulr seems to dissapear for me this year, had many quotes in 500-700 bracket, unfortunately my 3 penalty points appeared to be still on record so had to go with Liberty for 700.

    123 - €1300

You should definitely try it's 4 women. A colleague in our office is in a similar situation and he saved hundreds. Nothing to lose by trying!

    Age: 26
Car: 2006 VW Golf 1.4 Petrol
    Area: Meath
    Cover: Full comp
    Last year: €555 AA

Doesn't mean you can't get insured by them. Just a company name ; they can't discriminate on gender.

I'm not female either and they were cheapest for me too.

Have you tried adding spouse/parent as named driver?

The difference is quotes for the same car and same scenario is insane.

    I had €1,150 from Axa
Yet straight up Aviva offered it for €501.80

    Quick question lads,

My renewal is due on Friday and i've gotten much cheaper quotes from other providers, currently with Axa but they've automatically renewed my policy without my permission, they even sent me out a disk and insurance cert.

123.ie has given me a quote nearly 200 euro cheaper than Axa. Surely I'm entitled to cancel the policy with Axa as it's not even due until the Friday?
