    505€ with 123.ie

Amazed about some of the question, when did I buy the car? Can't understand that one. Seem to want me to send them a copy of the tax disc for some reason too.

Mite be worth a try renewing your insurance in the Yaris for the year and pricing a switch to the civic after a couple of months.

  • Registered Users Posts: 424 ✭✭Landoflemon

Thanks, I have looked at that, and it's reasonable, I'm just terrified not knowing what the story would be at renewal time!

Try Aviva or Campion. They quoted me with similar info.

EDIT: Quoted me less than above.

I tried Aviva there, and they wouldn't give me a quote online. I'll have to try over the phone maybe.

Do. Also try through a broker, my local broker initially got me the Aviva deal, cheaper than through Aviva themselves.

Called Aviva there and they refused it based on the fact it was a type R. Real shame.

Previously quoted me on a DC5 and subsequently insured me on my s2000, seems to be different rules for different people unfortunately!

Don't forget the Honda's and Subaru's are popular with the boy racer crowd, not to mention a higher theft rate. As you've found the insurance premiums are priced to reflect as such.

Personally I would never purchase one for those reasons alone

Yeah, the stereotype definitely hurts it. A shame because they're a great car, and not too many other cars tick the same boxes.

Received my renewal quote from AIG in the post.
    46 yo.
    2013 Lexus IS300H F Sport.
Fully comp with bonus protection and windscreen cover.
    €455.

That's the first time in over 10 years that my renewal quote hasn't been scandalous.
I change company ever year and give 2 days getting quotes and usually end up getting it for somewhere between 400 and 500 each time.
Might not even bother this year as that's not too bad at all.

    07 Mazda 3 1.6
35 year old male owner, 33 female named
    <3000 Miles a year
    Irish Licence 11 years
    NCD 11 years

    Previous year £335.13
    Renewal ~ £380

I shopped around and the lowest I could get was ~£300

I called back for a haggle and noticed a little error on their online form. With an adjustment of the error my renewal is now £256.06 fully comp, protected.

    Bit his arm off!

    38 M driving a 152 1.6d leon
Renewal €770 up from 680 last year.
    I've done ~20 online quotes
    Cheapest €650
    Dearest €1158

I tried changing the voluntary excess & ncb protection on 1 quote but it made no difference. In fact increasing the voluntary excess actually increased the quote.
The majority of insurers have my car wrong when looking up using the reg. They put it as a higher model so not sure if that is making my quotes higher.
2 years ago my insurance was 400 on an 08 Passat 2.0 diesel

Edit: Just did a quote selecting the car instead of using the reg & quote is 621.

    29 Male
    2011 2.0 Seart Leon FR
    2 years NCB (€1,200 accident in 2016)
    3 points

    Best - Fully Comp €1,597 123/RSA
Next best - Third Party €1,599 Chill (Axa)
Some sites such as liberty won't even quote.

51 yr old M, full NCD, driving '11 Kia Sorento 2.2d
Renewal quote from Allianz (via the AA) - €974
Quote from Liberty €523 -10% as my wife is also with them = €471 :)

Funny thing was I bought this car in Jan and got a quote from Liberty before hand just to see what it was going to cost and this quote was €880. Where these numbers come from is a complete mystery!

    24, 2003 BMW E39 540i 4.4
    5+ NCB

Aviva Fully Comp last year : €2,080
Aviva Full Comp Renewal : €1,783

Happy with that considering the car, my age and they dropped €300 off the price, no one else has even quoted me so far.

They make these numbers up completely.

I've a smaller engine same age car, basically same number of years driving, no claims in the last 5 years and you're still cheaper than me with the same insurer!

Considering it's less than the annual tax bill and he's in his twenties (afair) it's not bad at all.

I am in shock, my car renewal premium has come down this year!

Yes folks, you heard right. Down.

I spent days and days trying to get a decent quote last year, finally got one for €476.
Renewal came in, and its €436.

Nearly fell off the chair. Think thats the first time in quite a few years my premium has gone down.
