Just looking at the build treads and a lot of young people with nice big engines cars. Then here's me struggling to get a decent quote on a firkin 1l corsa B Well FML..:(

Sounds odd for a motors forum, but don't get too caught up on whatever your internet peers have. Nothing comes without its cost. When I was young I was spending 1/3 of my income on paying for a car. In hindsight it was foolish and it didn't make me as happy as it should have.

I was stuck in 1.4s and diesels through college too. As colm says, once you get a few years under you, you can have what you want and it won't be overly expensive.

Agreed. I'm lucky enough to be in a situation where I can afford the car I have even being in college, it has however cost me a rake, but that hasn't bothered me as I've made a lot of new friends and other opportunities have come up since I've gotten a BMW. My car right now is my main hobby though which is why I can justify the cost.

I'm 21, 3 years named and 1 year own policy and got that quote of €1256 on my 525, some places count named experience as full No-Claims, like the crowd that gave me the quote, Aviva.

Ah don't get me wrong. I love looking at the car porn and reading the treads, each owner takes great care and has fun with their car. But earlier in my life I always. Imagined having a nice car by now but it just never happened.. Anyway. It was just a rant.

If I wouldn't be playing hockey, I would probably have a different car, or more car parts. It's a pricey sport, but it's worth it because it's awesome.

I can see how that works for some. But I've never been shouted at like that before. :/

Is that at the entrance to Kilronan castle?

Nope. That's Lough Key forest park.

    Anyone any tyre recommendations
Two eagle f1s are bald already after 8k miles

Something with as good or as close to as good grip but that'll last a good bit longer

Not too far off! Kilronan has a similar exit with the huge walls.

Never knew them hockey sticks were that expensive! :D
Consider moving to hurling? According to some it's a cross between hockey and murder, so it has to be a step up.
Or do you mean you're playing hokey? :p

Hurling is a completely different sport. Not moving to that.

For (inline or ice) hockey a stick is not all you need. You need skates, shin guards, cup, padded shorts or pants (usually pants for inline and shorts for ice), elbow pads, shoulder pads with chest protection, helmet and gloves.

Optional: slash guards (for wrist area) and neck guard.

Ofcourse you'll need a stick, and if you want a nice carbon fibre stick over a wooden one then you will have to pay for it. :P

Also you will need a jersey and socks to go over the shin guards. You'll need hockey tape for the stick.

Money is also spent on rink time for training sessions, tournaments and season games, as well as petrol to get there ofcourse.

    It all adds up.

Have you ever seen ice hockey? Makes hurling look like a few kids playing slaps. They have players who's sole purpose is to be subbed on to **** **** up and start fights.

Well, sort of, but that's mostly just in NHL. People love hockey fights so the refs usually let them go at it until one goes down, then the whole crowd cheers, both get sent off for 5 minutes and then the game goes back to normal.

Other leagues and international championships are more strict about that sort of thing.

Ugh... my insurance premium on NoNonsense is €1.39 higher than my daily debit card limit...

I don't really want to pay with direct debits...

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 6,924 ✭✭✭Wossack

can usually just pay half today, half again tomorrow etc

Call them and tell them? I doubt they'd have much hassle knocking €1.39 off the price to get your business

Rang them and they are not interested in taking 1500 instead of 1501.39

The only thing they can do is take the payment in 2 parts on the same day which is still over my daily limit.

Everyone else is 400 euro dearer :D

My only choice is to bump to the excess to 750 which lowers the premium to 1483~, but why would I do that?!
