Ah yeah, but remember, most of the stuff anyway would be twice if not three times cheaper than Ireland.

    Petrol's at €0.96/litre
    Diesel's at €0.94/litre
    LPG's at €0.48/litre

Loaf of sourdough bread is about €0.60
Bottle of Tyskie beer is €0.75
2.25L bottle of Coke is €1.35
Half Pounder Large meal at McDonald's is €4.65
Packet of Pall Malls is €3.15
Studio Apartment, 15kms away from the capital would be about €315 to rent.
Electricity and gas are dirt cheap.

My uncle makes €950/month, his wife is a housewife, they've got two kids and he has no problem owning two cars (2008 B6 Passat and a 2004 VW Polo) and going on holidays to Croatia once a year.

To be honest though, I find Poland not to be that cheap.
For example I find clothes and electronics cheaper in Ireland and there I know quite a lot of people who with earning say 900e per month find they have less than half left over by the time they pay for everything.
It's all relative, if you come over with an Irish salary then yeah things are going to feel very very cheap but when you are earning the local salary then it doesn't feel cheap at all.
You are right though about the electricity and gas and fuel is not too bad considering the motor tax is included and newer cars seem to be cheaper.
Oh yeah and the toll roads do my head in!

Just watch it with a Rotary, not quite as forgiving as a D/A but should be faster!

It is a D/A, it's a €250 kit with great stuff in it.
You frightened the crap out of me :)

Yep got all that. Just needed someone to confirm it to me!!

Is there something saying that the spare wheel needs to be secured in the well? I have a full size spare in, i'll fcuk the space saver back in if needs be.

If you want to be safe, don't bring a spare at all. You don't have to have it and you may have to (I don't know for sure) bring it back for a visual.
I have a space saver in the back and it hasn't been secured since ever, but it's covered with carpet, never been a problem.
    Good luck with the NCT!

As in the upper arms are on the wrong sides?

Make sure you have the bolt going the other way too, for future arm changes you won't have to remove the strut...

I was thinking with the silence something more along the lines of this.

lol, I was genuinely expecting a faulty towers style situation.

Went really well, only failed on headlight alignment. Somewhat ironic as usually I would always get the headlights done before I go but I was so convinced it would fail on a multitude of stuff that I didn't bother. It's very bitter sweet right now.

The inspector was definitely enjoying my K&N though, there was much more throttle blipping than neccessary while inside the building and he drove it out like Ken Block :pac:

Sweet Jesus, that's silly thing to fail on, and €28 to get it retested.

At least it's fine otherwise. :)

Ah, delighted tbh! Great to see the old girl doing well for herself and getting at least one more year, i'll treat her to 3 months tax now. Just looking there, it's done just shy of 17k miles since it's last NCT and the only consumable i've replaced is the tyres :) engine swap went completely under the radar so it must have been a tidy job.

I Finished my semester one exams today thank god it was a long few weeks of hardship prepping for them and sitting them, great to be done. About a days worth of lab reports to do early next week and then 3 sweet weeks off.

So I might try tidy up the Megane a bit over the holidays cleaning it would be a good start, its getting serviced 4th January and I must find out what a replacement reflector strip for the rear would cost as its annoying a lot at this stage the fact its broken. Id also like to replace the gear knob at some stage not sure are they generally expensive from the main dealer ? whoever owned the car previous must of worn a wedding ring and there is loads of chips gone out of it. Since I don't wear a ring (well wont be for the foreseeable future) id like to change it. All small stuff really.

This is my one regret on the DSG. I looked at getting a replacement gear knob for similar reasons, turns out they're about $250+ as it's all one mechanism from the boot up.

Ye tbh if its not reasonably cheap to replace I wouldn't bother as its not even that worn just the marks on it annoy me. I'm nit even sure it my one screws off and is separate or what.

I changed the gear knob and gater on my old merc. It wasn't cheap and took a few months of sniping on eBay to get one. I don't know why they're so expensive.
