Did you find that nut for adjusting?

    My test is tomorrow too.

    My fail predictions:

    Emissions
    Suspension bushing and links
    Chassis corrosion

And maybe some basics, one of either headlight alignment or tracking.

I'm hoping it goes straight through but this car loves breaking my heart. It's the first car that i've put zero pre NCT prep into, i'm just going to turn up and see what's what. I also didn't tax it this month encase it's really bad.

Mine was today with the Sunny. Failed on high idle emissions @ 0.71% but passed on everything else

The reading when it passed a fortnight ago though was 0.05% and the car has't travelled 200 km but I think it might be that the engine was at a different temp each time

I usually just wear socks to bed when not at home in the fear that someone might see my weird feet. :pac:

I did ya, he adjusted the other end though and it seemed to free it up a bit.

I don't see it failing on much. Found last years report and it failed on two lights and an exhaust mount. It's taxed until August, so hopefully that'll see me out. I'm half contemplating selling and not replacing it at all when the time comes.

I obviously don't know your full situation. But the fact you have two cars did you never consider having a proper weekend car and then the diesel mondeo for your commute and any long trips. There's plenty of cheap (a few k euro) quick cars that would be 2.0L or less so same kind of tax and I'd imagine insurance would be around the same and as you wouldn't be doing long trips in it it would only be for a bit of fun fuel cost wouldn't be much more. I mean I can understand having a diesel car like myself but two I don't really get unless it's just preference or there is some personnel reason you don't want to mention which is fair enough too.

2 people, 2 cars, 2 mile munchers needed is the main reason. Both are used alot so diesel is needed. Might or might not cut down to one in the summer, depending on the circumstances.

So in 3 weeks I've done approx 1700km in the Passat.
    Thoughts so far.
The power is quite addictive and its lovely in 3rd gear but floor it in second gear and the traction control just acts like it cant be bothered and you end up looking like an utter tit.
Fuel consumption isn't bad at all for a 170bhp diesel, averaged about 7l per 100km which isn't bad considering a bit of it is city driving and flooring a lot.
The interior is a very nice place to be and it cheers me up when the grey clouds never feck off.
Heated seat at 5 will burn your bollocks off after 5mins which is amazing considering it took the Honda about 15mins to heat up.
Still not a fan of the seats though.
Satnav works well and is pretty quick at loading up.
Love the cabin at night time with the blue and red dials. Very soothing.
Dislikes then are the seats for now and the fact its so easy to stall.
Oh and the boot release button doesn't work either in the car or via the fob.
Buckled the alloy there the other day but other than that no issues to report.
    So far so good :)

Ah ok that's fair enough I thought one was sitting up when you were using the other. That makes sense.

me being a re-reg is hardly a secret at this stage :pac:

@bear1 sounds like a lovely car. Pity there wasn't more of them sold here new instead of all 105bhp. All them vag 170s seem to spin there wheels in second the vrs Octavia were quite bad for it I suppose that not a bad complaint. I always liked the mid 2000s onwards VW interiors at night think that purple backlighting is the easiest on the eyes during long drives my golfs was anyway compared to everything else I've owned.

Ok I knew the reg was familiar. Tbh I haven't been on boards much lately, so haven't been keeping up with who left or re-reg'd.

I was swapping out the head unit incandescent bulbs for LED bulbs, what a pain in the ar*e!

Throw in the LED bulb into the hole and pray that you get it in the right way because for LED bulbs the polarity matters! I literally had to attempt to put one particular bulb in 7 times before it went in the right way.

Ugh... T3 bulbs are fun... not...

It was so nice to sit into the Audi and waft home today listening to the subtle (thank god) 8 cylinder soundtrack after driving the small work truck from Galway to tuam to roscommon across athlone via m6 to portlaoise via Emo and m7 up to rathmines and back down m50/m6 in rush hour traffic and home.

    Im bushed :(

I seen a new model 151 Passat with wheel covers today I was kind of shocked for some reason I though even the basic spec had alloys in the newer model obviously not. They weren't even nice wheel covers the ones on the golf mk7 are better. I suppose they will be reps and company cars new favourite buy.

Bought myself a nice little set today as a Christmas present.
    Got it from DnD detailing.
Want to give this proper detailing craic a go :)

Saw a new (well the outgoing model now) model A4 on steelies. Foreign reg though. Looked mad.

I've been doing it for ages, but I still get paranoid each year. So tell me what I need to bring with me for the NCT.

The license, vlc cert, fee. Remove wheel centre caps, check bulbs and indicators all work and fluids are up to the levels. Good luck.

Yep got all that. Just needed someone to confirm it to me!!

Is there something saying that the spare wheel needs to be secured in the well? I have a full size spare in, i'll fcuk the space saver back in if needs be.

The 105 is the most reliable mind you but just too little bhp for such a heavy car. Dont know what vw were thinking.
