I signed up for a 30 day contract with ID. I was told I would be sent a text message when I was close to my 20gb monthly limit. I never received the text and got hit with a 147euro bill.

When I contacted Customer care over a week ago they said they would raise it as a ticket with head office. I heard nothing back and and now the money has been debited from my account. Now I cannot reach customer care at all on 1747

Does anyone have an email address for ID customer care. I cant reach them on 1747.

Is anyone else having this problem.

I would warn against taking any contracts with this shower. They put a 75euro cap on what you can spend in the contract but if you dont get the text message warning you you are reaching your 20gb limit there is nothing to stop you from hitting the 75 euro cap.

How in the world are you milling through 20GB in a month?

Got onto customer care about my phone being 2G happy (my phone switches to 2G in areas where 3G/4G is available and doesnt auto switch back to 4G), and they suggested a new sim might solve it. I got a replacement on Thursday and had I had a utility bill on me today, I would have switch to any other company.

Common issue on the Three network which iD uses.

So this is common to 3 and all its MVNOs (ID, 48months)?

Not 48 or Tesco as they use the O2 network exclusively for the time being.

Another ex-iD customer. 3 outages withing a week, had to go. Back to tescomobile.

Only the ones using the 3 native network which would exclude 48 and Tesco Mobile and Lyca as they used the original O2 network still.

Must be having billing problems again. My October bill was debited on the 27th. October. Its now showing on MyiD as "unpaid" and I haven't received a November bill yet.

I checked and why are there two ID's that you can select from for carriers? I had some issues, one minute I could be using 3G and the next would be 2G and be stuck. I would have to restart my phone or play around with the carriers to be able to use 3G once again.

I had this issue. Airplane mode on and then off again works too. But the best solution I found was to leave ID and switch back to meteor. Drove me mad.

A lot of three customers have this issue. Left for meteor. What a change for myself. Better battery life ( stronger signal most places I go ) West cork is now full of 3G for Meteor, even more 3g than 3 advertised and the 4G is well up to Par with Vodafone on my own tests. Sure it is 8 euro a month more, buy my god, I don't miss having to toggle airplane mode on and off every hour.

Trust me. This issue won't go away for you.

This is kinda they point I make when people go crazy over packages that are a few euro cheaper. A system that doesn't work isnt worth anything. TM/48 had a spate of bad outages, for f'cks sake their data center cages flooded. If ID can't provide five 9's uptime just forget them.

Three had issues with "Roaming" when using vodafone 2G back in the day when their masts were only 3G and lacked coverage. Now thats gone. Why the MVNO(s) would have cell transitioning issues I'm not sure. It'd be interesting if any of the GSM savy posters here could chime in on that.

They're not charging me for outside allowance data but does the below make sense to anyone?

I'm well under my allowance, but have similar, random entries on my bill that are marked as outside the allowance (although there are no charges).

I believe (and open to correction) that iD have access to the Three 3G network and the ex-O2 2G network (but not the ex-O2 3G network).

So it's effectively the same scenario Three customers had with the Three 3G network and the Vodafone 2G network. The handoff to 2G works but the handback to 3G doesn't work (or at least not as quickly).

Tesco I believe operate solely on the ex-O2 2G/3G network but have no access to the Three 3G network. No avenue for the issue to arise there.

Three customers have access to the ex-O2 2G/3G network AND Three 3G network - again no issue as you will either handback to the ex-O2 3G network or the Three 3G network, it makes no difference because you will still have 3G.

Have to say though, personally, I haven't noticed an issue with getting stuck on 2G - certainly no where near as bad as pre-O2 takeover when I was with Three. Anyone on the F&F offer with iD should have gotten a replacement SIM card by now, one of the improvements being how it connects to and roams across the underlying Three network.

Were iD actively replacing f&f sims or is it just if you call and say you have a problem? I'm on the f&f deal and haven't noticed and 3g-2g switch problems.

Only if you reported issues. Pop into a carphone shop and they should do it for you there and then. The new SIMs have a roaming mode setting on them.

My sim has the sim toolkit app with roaming services inside it set to automatic. Presume this is what you mean. Haven't had any issues so I'll leave well alone I think.

On F&F offer, didn't get a replacement SIM, don't use much data, only issue I have is the huge number of dropped calls. Would you recommend I replace/update my SIM?
    Thanks...

@FrostyJim you have the newer SIM so.

@BowWow Worth a shot. I found on my original SIM I could lose coverage in a weaker signal area for up to ten minutes before it would reconnect. This naturally enough meant my call would drop. Doesn't happen anymore (although there was a week and a bit of horrendous network quality but since resolved).

Has anyone else been getting utterly pathetic internet speeds? At best i get less than 1mbps. Several times a day i can't connect resulting in me running through my data allowance too quickly because if i'm downloading something i have to start again.

I messaged id about this and after a week of back and forth messages they told me to ring their customer care line. Any time ive rang that, ive been on hold for that long that i have given up. Seriously considering leaving and not paying my first bill.

Well that's not smart, they won't let you take your number with you if you owe them money. Its possibly a faulty sim card, drop into a carphone warehouse and ask to get a replacement sim. If its still bad afterwards then try switching to another provider.

Also I assume you have data roaming on? And know that 3/iD have good signal in your area?

I had considered that, if i use the internet in the early hours of the morning i've been able to get almost 5mbps. Which makes me think it isn't a faulty sim, though i don't want to be having to wait till 3am to use it! I'll pop in to them tomorrow and ask about a new sim. I'm 20mins from Cork city and have heard other people complain about 3, which i did not realise ID were using....

That would imply that the masts are over subscribed in your area.

Having great speeds today in Dublin.

That's my thinking too, and as such i doubt it's going to be something that changes any time soon. Out of 20+ speed tests ran on that app, i have only gone over 1mbps two or three times :(.

Try doing a few outside and see if it improves things at all. If not then I'd say its time to switch.

Am I the only one who's annoyed by this? It drives my head mental when I see it.
Data for us in the Republic of Ireland Only. Does not include roaming.

    Anyone?:pac::pac:

Should it be "Data for use in the Republic of Ireland Only."?

If so, I'm sure that it's just a typo, albeit a very confusing one, as it could be interpreted that the data is just for us in the ROI, ie: not for foreigners/inbound roamers.
