Found this really interesting. He talks about a lot of technical stuff and really goes into some in depth analysis.

Interest to hear from people on here with actually MMA experience, or similar, what they make of it.

This pic was put on his Twitter 13 hours ago.

He looks thin and that was Monday night (U.S. time).

He'll be even thinner come Fridays weigh in.

    I hope he beats Mendes.

Sorry be bringing up the weight cut issue but talks conor weighed 172 couple days ago. He doing loads of media and traveling Canada New York and Vegas. I have no doubt he will weigh 145 bang on. Surely cutting 27lb practically 2st needs his full time attention to do right
He was probably 172 at some point a while ago, but I don’t think it he was that weight 8 days out. Just from looking at photos. Chael was just being Chael imo.
Regardless, I think what Darced said is right, anything to distract him from the cut is a positive. He doesn’t need to actively do much to make weight, it’s a mental battle mostly.

UFC is fluid with their pricing. Tickets started at a higher level than most events and when they saw how high demand was at that price they ramped up the price of tickets when blocks were opened to public sale. I presume any returns they’ve received now have gone back up at a rate than what they were originally sold at to make up the latest increase. Dana also mentioned that they’ve put in bleachers but I’ve no idea where they could fit them in but if they’ve managed to squeeze in 100 more people at near floor level it would be a big chunk of the increase.

As this is a very non-Irish way of selling tickets so people will moan about it being money grabbing but Americans are pretty used to it for a lot of events.
I only heard about this dynamic pricing yesterday. But it sounds likes its only the case for the seat marked “premium”. The regular seat are set prices. They might have squeezed a few extra seats in, but for the most part the gate amount is set by the regular ticket price.

His draw power will really be shown with the PPV numbers.

Are you saying because Aldo pulled out, people returned their tickets and UFC were able to sell those returned tickets at a higher price than they initially sold for?

I'm probably hypocritical because I do eat meat, but I hate the fact that Chad takes great joy out of hunting and killing animals just to hang them on his wall like its some kind of trophy cabinet. Hopefully Conor dedicates this fight to Bambi when he knocks him out in one.

They can sell them for whatever they want and I've just compared the tickets that are on sale to the image that DrPhilG put together when the tickets went on original sale and I put it at over 50% that have increased in price since that date. Once tickets are returned they'll be put out straight away for resale so the one's here may or may not be returns but either way many have gone up in price.

I think I've also gotten to the bottom of the extra seats/bleachers, from the original map they've removed the ESPN and Fox stages and have replaced them with around 180 extra seats (section 222 & 223). Most haven't sold yet but if they all do it'll make them an extra $90k.

Totally agree. When he's not around the others, Mendes comes across as being really sound and seems to be a very grounded kind of guy. Faber in particular comes across as a complete knob, which has taken me completely by surprise. They all looked like such clowns in that boat scene.

It's pretty cool the way Mendes hunts for his own meat and keeps chickens to lay eggs. He's getting the best of meat there, all wild and organic.

i see brenden shaub saying he thinks mcgregor is petrified of facing mendes and he believes mcgregor didn't have an option not to fight mendes , the the ufc said " aldo is out , this is the fight your taking "

also believes john kavanagh etc tried everything to get out of this fight etc

brenden schaub is a complete tool imho anyway so take from it what you will

    edit : heres the link

The same McGregor who wanted to bet Dana White $3m that he'd knock Mendes out in the 2nd round?

    Sounds about right.

You'd get the feeling that Chad wakes up some nights with Faber standing there with his top off, watching him sleep.

Strange out of Schaub who's usually gushing over Conor. Fair enough if you don't think someone will win but willing to bet all your money that Conor tried to pull out of the fight is a bit strange.

That, and the "terrified" comment seem a little odd for him alright. Thought the rest of his analysis was fair and reasoned. He is prone to wild statements though.

Strange comments from Schaub, for a self-confessed Conor fan he seems to have absolutely zero confidence in him against the top of the division. He's entitled to his opinions obviously, but the idea that Conor is terrified of Mendes or that his team 100% tried to get a different fight than Mendes, is bizarre.

He seems to be on a good run of predictions right now - he tipped Werdum to sub Cain, and picked the round too I think - but hopefully he's off the mark here!

I actually picked Werdum too. While I understand why cain was the favorite I dont think it was as big of an upset as others seemed to think.

It was nowhere near serra/gsp levels for me

Well seems a lot of people think Mendes is a harder test than aldo who knows if there is some truth behind it.

I don't think anyone can guess. on the wrestling thing, mendes could catch a gigantic knee on the way in and it's lights out, ohhh the joy!!

sure I've see tons of underdogs go into matches as if it meant certain death (especially TUF series) only to catch the hyped opponent and finish him quick. sure look at how calvin lashed Uriah hall!! everyone wrote him off and it would seem hall had it in the bag!!

it's a fight and no one can call it, that's the beauty!! I'm confident McGregor can do it but I'd hate to see him made a fool of, I.E tapping in the first round AKA Anthony Johnson!
