I started playing battlefield 1 yesterday, I was pretty good at the earlier games on consoles. On the PC im like a noob with a terrible K/D ratio.

Not a bad game though, I have played 2 of the 5 campaign missions and they were pretty good.

Man, this is one bugger of a game. Fuel and food run out a bit too fast and it's very difficult starting out. I still have my first captain, but only just. The ship has a crew of 2 at the moment and we have to crawl everywhere around the map.

It's good, but I don't know whether it's worth the 20 caps (30 with the sub expansion).
God no, i got it in a humble bundle! :pac:

Still chipping away at Dark Souls, made it to Anor Londo so slowly progressing.

Also got a campaign as Rome in TW Rome 2. Probably the most ive played the game since release.

Started Hitman Absolution but only occasionally playing it. Picked up Battlefield 1 for my XBone yesterday so Hitman will probably be the bottom rung of my gaming priority for a while.

I played some FFXIII and Yakuza 3. I liked what I played of both!

I paid €17 for it just before the end of early access (10% off and I get the DLC for free) and honestly I feel like I stole it for that price, so much so that I've given away three copies of it since (only one of which was from the Humble Bundle). Just goes to show that games have different value to different people.

I recently completed the Uttermost East ending of the game, which involves sacrificing all you have built up (including your stats, your scion, and your Ironclad Will), so I had to start again from almost scratch (you can still choose one legacy, as usual, and you keep any Legacy items) and holy crap, I had forgotten how tough the first few hours of the game are. It's easy to coast along with new captains when you have heirlooms to subsidise your first few trips, but starting with nothing is a nightmare.

Yeah, it's a hard slog on new captains for sure.

I'm on my second lad now. I deleted the first save manually. I was having some weird glitch were it would crash in the middle of the sea pretty much every game.

Anyway, this time around, I am wiser to the mechanics of the game. So, I've kept my terror down really well by using the light buoys and built up a few bob running sphinxstone and clay men to London. There's about 2500 grand in the bank to play with and my stats are building nicely.

I've sort of run out of game at the moment though. I've just finished up with the acolyte on Station III. After running out of options with her, I now how to head off and look for something else to do.

I fell out of love with Sunless Sea. It felt like I had to trade grind in order to get the money for upgrades and stuff and while striking out into the unknown is terrifying it rarely worked out well.

Sunless Sea is currently 67% off on GOG.

I don't usually like roguelike games but I'm considering giving this a try.

Total War Attila, helping with a mod. Also Oriental Empires, Mafia III and Fallout IV.

I've more or less finished with Forza Horizon 3 for now, so started up Gears of War 4 last night.
The graphics in these games are a nice push beyond what I'm used to. Loving my new GTX 1060.

At least having played it on console you probably have some idea what to do! I'm mainly running around like a complete eejit. Great fun though.

I've been playing golf with your friends

It's both more irritating and more boring than chess!

Started Skyrim, special edition but I have a few other games to get through before I get to really play it. I have 2 or 3 hours done just wanted to see was there much of a difference between standard edition and this one. Tbh there is very little between them. I'd say it is a massive difference on consoles between last gen and current.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 885 ✭✭✭Internet Friend

Main difference I've seen with Skyrim SE, apart from the visuals, is the performance. I'm getting between 80 - 100 fps with no lag or stutters whereas the original stuttered all over the place, averages about 50fps and that itself was all over the place at times.

Much more stable now its 64-bit,that will hopefully allow some mods to expand their scope too. Im gonna hold off on a playthrough till mods are updated then gonna throw a load in and see how it goes.

I fired up Total war shogun 2 again after being scared away from it over a year ago. Watched a load of tutorials, read some guides, got my ass kicked on the first two attempts but the guides have helped me get a better grip on things. So that's where my bank holiday went, got a bit hooked.

The management side of things and money management is the next thing I need to get better at.

Ahh, Skyrim: SE. Since I got it for free on Steam (I own the Legendary Ed. as well) I decided to check it out quickly for differences last Friday. 3 hours later I was telling myself 'I'll stop once I checked out just there' :> It's like 5 years ago all over again, lol. I never even touched the DLC which I intend to do now. Granted, I'd never get the Special Edition if it weren't for free, as the differences don't justify shelling out €40 for it. I guess the next few months I'm booked out now :>

    A SHAMEFUR DISPRAY!!!

Yeh, Shogun is great. My only issue with that game though is that terrible mechanic whereby once you take the capital, nearly every other state left standing will attack you. Even your allies. Doesn't matter what level of "matey" you are with them, they'll all want to fuck you up anyway.

    Other than that, it's brilliant.

    Is that 2017?

Is it better than 2014? That was the last one I played and vowed never to go near it again. It was a pure RNG. I figured in the end that it didn't really matter how I set up the team or who I bought, it was simply too much a matter of luck if my team won or not.

i played it on Xbox 360 when it came out first, got it this time for ps4 and after sinking approx 30hrs into it already,i can say i dont regret shelling out for it a 2nd time.. its rare you can say that about a game..

The differences are night and day in comparison, plus the additional content and (while limited) Mods..

  • Hosted Moderators Posts: 18,115 ✭✭✭✭ShiverinEskimo

Just finished Deus Ex - Mankind Divided. As per the par for the reviews the main story was a bit meh while the side missions made for some very memorable moments. Defo worth a replay in a few months - did the non-lethal ghost run, so I want to go back and be a genocidal maniac.

Going to give Skyrim SE a quick run to see what's what. See you in the spring.

Yes, the difference between 360/PS3 version and the Special Edition are vast, no denying that. On PC though, it's a different story and really not worth paying another €40 if you own the original. Good thing we get it for free if we own the Legendary Edition.

It is rare to find a game so rich and deep in lore either. This game is VAST, there is so much too do you really feel overwhelmed by it. You can easily sink 200hrs+ into it and still not do everything. If you don't have a PC to run it, worth getting on X1/PS4 definitely.

I picked up Richard and Alice recently and played a bit of it. I like it so far. It has a good atmosphere and I'm pretty invested in the story. I have a terrible fear, though, that the reason Alice is in prison will turn out to be
because of something that happens to her son
. It seems to be going that way.
