Witcher 3 and GTA V (PC) on a 92" screen shiiiiieet

92" screen, pixels must be massive.
I've started Borderlands 2 but I'm not liking it at all. All the guns feel the same. The aim punch and recoil is insane when you fire weapons. I can't stand it. I have no interest in a loot simulator which seems to be a big aspect of the game.

The whole Borderland series is up there in my favourite games of all time.

So I keep hearing, it got rave reviews. I just don't think it works for me. I couldn't stand diablo 2 as it was all about getting better loot all the time. This seems no different. The fps element seems tedious already.

getting into battlefield 4 a lot again lately still very good

despite early complaint I think the game has held up for a long time

I've got 170+ hours in Borderlands 2, that game was just all sorts of awesome. There's still a load of DLC I've never finished on it too.

Yeah they are fairly big but not noticible from far away, saying that as expected they do look better on an pc screen

It was just ridiculous amounts of fun, the humour hit the right spot for me too, the storyline and setting were great, and it had just about the perfect blend of FPS and RPG elements.

Also, Handsome Jack was just one of the best villains ever

Hmmm. I think it has the worst parts of FPS and RPG elements put together.

ClapTr4p was another fun character as well.

I don't know what you don't like about it. It won game of the year with the first and second. Did you play the first including the DLC's?

    I never got into it.

I thought Borderlands 1 was pretty good to begin with but it was a serious struggle to eventually get through to the end.

Got bored of B2 inside 3 hours or so.

I like the art style and the humour's grand and all that, but the loot isn't interesting enough to keep me playing the fairly repetetive gameplay.
There was a bunch of good ideas there but they didn't quite take them far enough to hold my attention.

It would've probably helped to have played with someone but as a singleplayer experience, it certainly didn't quite have enough for me.

I really felt like I should have loved the game - I was on the look out for a FPS loot-whore game before I found Borderlands. It just didn't seem to be the one.

Hopefully I've put my hard and software problems behind me now.
Hardwares all up and running (r9 Fury) and I seem to have successfully done a clean install of Windows 10, which sidestepped a lot of issues I was starting to have from my messy C drive (most with GPU drivers).

Currently have Wolfenstein: Old Blood installing, which I'm going to play before the New Order for chronologicicity.

Playing GTA V and Arkham Knight now that I've got a 970 and my machine runs them both :D

Nah I've played around 2 hours of the second one. Repetitive generic shooter with added Diablo 2 loot system. Not my cup of tea. The game is slightly humorous though.

Hmmm. I think it has the worst parts of FPS and RPG elements put together.

I'm with you on this one. I played a fair chunk of the first one based on numerous friends raving about it and telling me I "had" to play it.

Didn't do anything for me no enjoyment from it at all. i think it was largely down to the visual style for me it just didn't interest me.

However that is what makes the industry so big everyone likes different things. I love all the dead island games yes including escape in that but I know plenty of people who hate them with a passion.

I played borderlands on the 360 a few years ago and i only found it ok, have 1 & 2 on the PC so will revisit them after the Dead Island franchise.

    My current play list

    Dead Island
    Dead Island Riptide
    H1Z1
    Orion - Prelude
    Van Helsing 1 - 2 - 3
    Borderlands 1 & 2
    Left 4 Dead 2

I kind of dip in and out of the following from time to time:

    The Witcher 2
    Dayz mod
    Don't Starve

I have a grand total of over 330 games and really need to start working through them, winter cant come quick enough haha

For the laugh i had a look at how much my steam account is valued at:

    back to bed

you have to guide a sleep walking man around a level towards his bed. puzzler, quite short.. you do two sets of 15 levels and then there's a 'nightmare' mode with added complications.

fairly straightworward most of the time but some of them are right head scratchers. http://store.steampowered.com/app/308040/ worth 6 quid anyway

    Just finished Wolfenstein: Old Blood.

    Entertaining.

I do love the feel of Id games. The guns always have plenty of punch (Doom 3 notwithstanding). Lots of enjoyable bits of head explosions and stuff like that.

Can't say I was expecting that last hour or so, but I've never played a Wolfenstein game before, and it's not like it was against the tone - what with the dual wielding shotguns, mecha-nazis and gaining extra health the more med kits you use.

It took it's stylised version of reality, made no apologies and just ran with it.
Nice for a change in an age of predominately cover-based, health regenerating, only carrying 2 weapons sort of shooters.

Now, on to the main event - the New Order!

Played the first few hours of The Talos Principle today. It has been a while since a game made me feel so dumb, then clever, then dumb, then clever etc. in such a short space of time. Definitely one of my favourite games this year.

Ahh you played it wrong, BL2 is a 4 player game. If all 4 are mates around the same level it is one of the best games ever made.

160 hours for me and 0 in Single player.

Game comes into its own in coop, especially with different character builds.

Its sort of designed for that.

    I solo'd it too.

Currently doing a No-Magic Very Hard run in Dishonored, and playing a little Hotline Miami again along with copious amounts of Pokemon X.

Want to try speedrunning Dark Souls but can't figure out how to get the counters to run over the game, all suggestions via PM are welcome :)

^ That's the only way I know how to play Dishonored. Never did use the magic much.

I'm playing various games lately. Pathologic, which is so text-heavy it's making it a nightmare to narrate into the mic while streaming... can't believe I narrated the manual's intro... twice! And I'll probably end up ryhming it off again for anyone that joins the stream and asks the inevitable "WTF is this?!".

Also emulated some The Bouncer. Full Kou perfect playthrough, no loading back needed, no deaths, some boss perfects, all 3 Mikado fights, extra Kou-specific boss at the end. Pretty much completely owned it :D

Bit of Witcher 3. Nidhogg... Sakura Clicker and Alone In The Dark: The New Nightmare. Good ole mix of games that have been grand to stream.

    well
decided to get civ 5 cos it was cheap on steam and y'all were talking about it here

'just one more turn' is right

a game hasn't captured my attention this much in a long, long time

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,627 ✭✭✭Gamer Bhoy 89

Played Rocket League all of last week. It's the best slice of multiplayer I've ever played in a long time.

All weekend I played and finished Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes (just going to fly through the other missions and collect as much collectables as I can), finished the mission finalé of Dying Light (started New Game+), and I just finished Episode 4 of Telltale's Game of Thrones.

Hoping to get Sleeping Dogs done this week, hoping nothing else distracts me :P

EDIT: I apologize, I forgot this was PC games only....

Then I suppose the only PC game I did play was Rocket League.

Mafia 2 onto chapter 14, really good game. Games dont have to be open world to be good :)

Arkham Knight. I'm loving it, but frustrated at times by the performance issues. I've finished the story so I think I'll just wait for the patch and do a new game plus when that comes out.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,403 ✭✭✭✭Vicxas

Bought Arkham Knight with the intention of testing my new 970, but it seems that it has issues with Windows 10 at the mo,

So i bought GTA V and i am enjoying the hell out of it :D

I will play with you but since I updated to 10 I never sorted out my steam library and tried to boot the game there and it is downloaded the whole game again and it will take forever as I live in the sticks. Is this the first Borderlands game?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 11,397 ✭✭✭✭Digital Solitude

First one yeah, I'll be dipping in and out for a while and I'm normally up for a game but no rush

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,775 ✭✭✭✭Gbear

I can tell after about an hour and a bit in that Wolfenstein: New Order is a lot more serious than Old Blood.

OB was a bit of a romp - shoot stuff in the face, win game.

NO really doesn't pull any punches. Loving it so far.

Arkham Knight has issues in general, I don't think Windows 10 is the cause. It wouldn't even start for me on Windows 7. It plays as I expected it to play on Windows based off reviews and comments.

The moment you start getting bored, try a one-city challenge and it feels entirely fresh again. Surprisingly doable.

Yup, which is an shame, as I said, as it's really quite a good game. I did finish it with the buggy version and now I'll wait for the patch/rerelease to play it with decent visuals.

    recent games would be
    Mainly:
    Rocket League
    Gta V
    On and off:
    Blacks Ops 2 Zombies
    Trackmania 2 stadium
    just cause 2

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,644 ✭✭✭✭Mr. CooL ICE

Decided to give Dota2 a rest for a while, so am alternating between:

    BF4
    Bioshock 1
    GTA V

Wanted to play rocket league for a few weeks, but put off by the need for a controller. Finally picking one up this week, so will purchase that.

Also have Skyrim installed, but haven't played it in almost a year. I only put about 30 hours into it before having to uninstall it for HD space reasons. Got a bigger SSD a few months ago and reinstalled it with full intentions, but just haven't gotten around to it.

Started playing South Park Stick of Truth, I'm quite enjoying it, I'm about 4 hours in and playing at a leisurely pace so I'm doing a lot of exploring and side missions.

Been having a lot of fun in Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes :D

I mean, for what is basically a glorified demo, I've spent more time playing that than in many full games.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,878 ✭✭✭Robert ninja

Was thinking of re-installing it to have another go. I never did git gud at it.

It IS a demo, though. And although I think it's great and a very good demo... I still can't help but hate them for ever releasing it for money. Everyone basically said yes, we'll buy 1/100th of your game for 1/2 the price. A lesson Konami and others will likely never forget.

Can't blame me, though. I'm playing it from family-sharing. Come at me. :pac:

I've 24 hours playtime in Ground Zeroes so far, managed to get a lot of achievements, and my first S-rank.

Back playing The Evil Within again too the last couple of days. I had been half way through Chapter 7, got to the end of that chapter where I was repeatedly bashed to **** by The Keeper, took my ages to get past him :o
