Pay tax for most, if not all, your working life in the UK, but want to be entitled to more than your entitlements in Ireland.

This might sound harsh, but they probably have two old age pensions coming in, medical cards, don't have a mortgage, don't have a car so no related expenses - why can't they pay from their own pockets for extra home help?

From first hand experience of looking after my Dad the home help scheme is in dire need of reform. He's right about the 40 minutes, and its crazy that that is all they are allowed.

The irony is that the old man will end out in a home costing the state 3-4 times what an extra hour a day would cost. Madness.

Mt Dad is in a nursing home, costs the state about €500 per week to keep him there. There's a load of people in there who could survive at home with an extra hour help a day or in secure accomodation that the government refuses to build or part finance. People are getting older, the financial burden on th taxpayer is getting worse and the government is doing little or nothing about it.

Kicking a can down the road.

And he's just announced they have nobody to leave it to.

Cue - hiace vans reversing from their way to Greece and heading up to Roscommon

Great stuff for the ferry companies.

Yes, entitlement does not disappear with age it seems.....

I would say these old lads have their communion money, never had a family to spend it on

I feel sorry for them but honestly they should be at the back of the queue when it comes to help from the State

Before the show ends, Joe should give the listeners the Latin translation for "Hello. Is that the tree surgeon? I'd like to get my trees cut."

Not sure how it works, someone said it's one or the other, but I thought you could get both, you often hear people on this show they're getting one from the UK too from when they worked there.

Too right. In parts of Canada at this time of year there is practically no night at all. The poor girl is probably a bit disorientated.

Irish people think they have the right to work in any country in the world. The entitlement culture is everywhere!
