    This might sound harsh, but they probably have two old age pensions coming in, medical cards, don't have a mortgage, don't have a car so no related expenses - why can't they pay from their own pockets for extra home help?

    They could put the brother into respite and then send him off for a week in Tunisia or Greece.

    They would be getting at least €438 a week (€219x2) and the medical cards, what are they doing with the cash?

    I think it's one or the other you can't take 2 state pensions, they might have others from their employment though.
