It stacks?!?? That has to be an oversight. Does the same go for burning? This would explain why my burning laser seems so effective.

Either it stacks, or enemies have way less health than the health bars make them out to have. See in my VoD how quickly it goes down: https://youtu.be/R2LyuLK-m6I?t=1h50m24s (spoilers if you haven't gone too far down the story yet)

Oh, no, fire does not do that. That definitely looks like a bug/oversight to me. No way they intended that trait to be that powerful.

Has anyone had any problems with crashing? Im surprised that 15 hours in i havent had a single one yet. I remember with F3 i could barely play an hour without a ctd. Was fully expecting the same with this.

38 hours, only one CTD which came after attempting to fast-travel somewhere (crashed on arrival).

Not one myself, runs like a dream for the most part then FPS drops but only happens in city.

    /crosses fingers.

Dunno what they're like later in the game but for your first few encounters you better know how to kite properly. If you don't, you're gonna have a bad day :P

According to the Nvidia fps counter I'm getting a solid 60fps the majority of the time, but somehow it doesn't look all that smooth. I don't know if I am just spoiled from the days of playing Counterstrike at 100+fps or what.

Any chance the Nvidia counter could be optimistic? They'd have a vested interest in making my think the hardware was doing well.

Same on AMD using steam's built in fps counter.

You could be walking along in a built up area but still getting at a slick 60 fps and no chopping, turn the corner and it looks like you dropped to below 30 but the counter still says 45 to 50 even back to 60..?

To me if its not locked at 60 it can be look kinda choppy where I normally only see that closer to 30 in most games.

steady 60fps most of the time for me.

Any one know what the story is with mods in your inventory, i put all mine into a container and they stay on the weapon i think is there a reason to keep them on your self ? it's a bit confusing.

That's how the game feels to me as well, I'm playing at 4K and I can keep 60fps a lot of the time but when it drops to 45-50 at times, it feels choppy and rough, as if it was running at 24-25fps! Playing other games at the same FPS feel totally fine.

same thing happens me on 3440 x 1440.

Minute it hits 50-55 it feels like its 25

They're mods that you have taken off when putting on a different mod. E.g. If you have a sniper with a night vision scope and change it to a recon scope, the night vision scope will be in your inventory because you just took it off the weapon. If you transfer it back to the weapons crafting bench (or just leave it in your inventory) then the next time you add that mod to a weapon then it will just use that one instead of crafting a new one.

I have that with this game and GTA V. Never could understand it. 60FPS is fine but if it drops even a few frames it gets very choppy. I imagine some of those 45 or 50 frames are taking a lot longer to generate and hence it appears a lot lower than 60FPS.

    About random choppyness ...

As a test I turned the 'Godrays' setting down to low (from Ultra) and it added back an extra 10 fps (even if its nighttime... WTF?) In places where its 50 fps choppy it has helped.

I think it's an optimization issues myself.

Level 35 and the load times are much much longer now. So standard Fallout.......

Some funny missions The Silve Shroud and USS Consitution. Would say the Shroud is hilarious if your character is female.

    Both very funny.

Just found out some quests are randomised.

I'm on my restart - over at the second settlement you get sent to. First time I was sent into some big factory near Lexington to clear it out. This time I'm going to some pond... Guess replaying the game would never be exactly the same. Nice.

Only bug I have encountered is Dogmeat got massacred by a traffic cone. Walked over it, then yelping, blood everywhere.

Anyone else come across the lady trying to sell her Bramhin? Bugged out in that she runs around with her hands up as if she's being held at gunpoint! :pac:

Makes sense that the mission assignment is random. Being sent to that Lexington factory on an early mission is a ludicrous spike in difficulty. There was literally dozens of enemies in there.

Yup, first time around it took me ages. And even just clearing outside the factory took many deaths as those guys really spam the nades and molotovs.

This time around I had to kill 6 enemies. Two of which I could have ignored as they weren't technically part of the quest and all of which went down like a sack of potatos.

I just ended up going back to 1440P and can hold up 60fps perfectly at that, little disappointing but still looks great.

    Ah thats possible so, Cool.

What GPU are you running? I've using a old-ish R9 280 at 1080p and am wondering if its the 3GB ram on board the GPU has or the horsepower of the card itself... Or game code...

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,930 ✭✭✭✭TerrorFirmer

    I have a 980Ti.

Just reading Digital Foundry's piece on cross platform, drops to 15fps at times on PS4 at 20fps on XB1 - with some utterly random, non-intensive sections also experiencing major stuttering.

It's game code. Godrays is an absolute destroyer of FPS. I was lagging like crap in city area's so I turned most settings down to low and brought them back up to see what was causing it and found Godrays and object draw distance to be the culprits.
