Even a year ago it would have been inconceivable to have Healy available for Leinster during a 6N.

He played two games for Leinster during last year's 6N...

I wonder would Healy have made the Irish squad if he hadn't had the surgery. His form's been poor all season. Schmidt may have been glad to have the decision taken out of his hands.
His form was improving before he got the ban and the surgery. He wasn't back to his best, but was on an upward curve. I've no doubt he'd be in the squad if he wasn't coming back from surgery. There's a place marked for him seeing as we have only two LHs with Furlong probably covering the spot until Healy's back.

Interesting to see Crosbie at 10, might indicate Marsh getting a run with the seniors?

That would make me very happy indeed

He started the A game last week but came off at half time. Not sure why, but assume he was injured?

He's also got an Olympic qualifier at the end of the season so I'd imagine the IRFU would want the As being careful with him

Feels like he's been around a longtime without ever getting on the first 15. He was a sub for a game when he was 18/19 wasn't he??

Maybe Byrne is travelling as cover to Coventry with Marsh being in the 23? Can't imagine both are in the 23.

    "Who is Spain?"
    "Why is Hitler?"
    "When is right?"
"Where was that stooped and mealy-colored old man I used to call Poppa when the merry-go-round broke down?"
    "How was trump at Munich?"
    "Ho-ho beriberi."
    and
    "Balls!"
all rang out in rapid succession, and then there was Yossarian with the question that had no answer:
"Where are the Snowdens of yesteryear?"

Ross Byrne picked up an injury in training with Leinster this week.

Well Denton is starting tomorrow anyway. And from the looks of the press briefings I think Sexton is as well.

This Marty Moore situation seems like another absolute farce. Reports that they're now having to seek legal advice on how to free him from whatever agreement he's reached elsewhere.

Niall Woods is his agent. He's been working with the IRFU for well over a decade when he was with IRUPA. There is absolutely no excuse whatsoever for the IRFU to be blindsided by this. They're certainly not losing him because the management didn't feel he was worth keeping, that much has now become obvious. It's a complete joke that we could be losing a tighthead of his age profile and with his talent because of the incompetence of the negotiators, yet again.

Don't worry, the story will have changed again in next weeks leak to the press.

It's really hard to know how much of what is in the press to take seriously. First we heard there was nothing signed but that he was almost certainly leaving. Then we heard that he had signed but was almost certainly not leaving. All of this at around the same time that we were hearing that James Cronin was off to LI when he had in actual fact already signed an extension with Munster. The reporting of contract negotiations in itself has been a bit of a mess lately so we simply don't know how much of the reporting is a mess and how much of the real life situation is a mess.

If he has signed for Wasps then we'll need to shell out our Douglas money to keep him, if Wasps are even willing to release him at all. But even if all of that is the case we just don't know what the context is. There's talk of his fitness being an issue at Leinster so maybe there's more going on here than we know. Especially as it seems that it was Joe and the IRFU that intervened to keep him. Which would suggest it was Leinster who were letting him go.

Very much a selection with the Pro 12 in mind.

Getting the guys who will be away with Ireland out on the field. Getting some of the guys who will be around like Nacewa/Te'o/Ringrose some rest. Getting Marsh and Boss onto the field. I wonder if the competition will survive this selection.

If last week was giving youth a chance, this week is "squeeze all our experienced players on the pitch at once and let them respond"

Sexton as Captain ahead of Heaslip is interesting.

Loving the fact we're treating these games as essentially warm ups.

I wonder is Schmidt looking at him as an option there and been on the phone to Cullen?
