Things beginning to brew up off the south coast of England/north west coast of France.

Here in Jersey island on the holidays and the lightening storm is spectacular to watch. A flash every second!

Evelyn mentioned the chance of isolated thunderstorms in eastern areas on Fri, this chart is interesting with the cool Atlantic hitting the warm humid air to our east. :)

It was actually Thursday she said,a slight risk of the thunderstorms over wales pushing west
I had missed it and just watched it now on plus one
Zero chance of thunder after that though and the chance tomorrow is very small,Worth keeping an eye on though
Mt may have thoughts in the morning, these systems do sometimes have a rogueish spread west?

Level one clipping east coast tomorrow

    2015082306_201508212030_2_stormforecast.xml.png

A level 1 stretches from the UK and E Ireland to Spain, mainly for excessive rain, large hail, severe wind gusts and tornadoes.

    SYNOPSIS

A cold pool in Eastern parts of Europe with slow movement to the West and another shortwave trough South from it, are the main causes of convective phenomena in the Balkans that will continue until Sunday. Another amplifying trough arrives from the Atlantic Sea to the most Western parts of the continent with a wide jet streak extending from North Spain to NE of the UK.

At the surface, a low pressure system is situated just South from Iceland. A cold front stretches from the UK to the western parts of the Iberian Peninsula and a warm front crosses the UK during the night of Saturday, where severe weather is forecast.

There is also tornado threat for the UK during night hours.

I would be very surprised if we do get any hint of thunder in this neck of the woods. It may show as a Level 1, but these things have a habit of fizzling out. Still, it would be nice to have a bit of thunder and lightning at night. It's been a while since we've had a decent thunderstorm, especially late in the evening/at night :)

On me holliers in San Sebastián and the light show so far tonight has been amazing! Consistent strikes every couple of minutes with massive thunder. Just walked home in it and we're now sitting with the two balcony doors wide open, a glass of wine in hand and watching the show. Class!

I got to experience a severe thunderstorm in the states last week. A lot of lightning over several hours and some it was very close, two were flash and instant thunder and I managed to get one on video. I'll post them later. In the meantime, here is the Mammatus that rolled in just before the fireworks began.

A few rumbles of thunder here in Co. Limerick now. Seems to be to the south east of us, over towards the Galtee mountains......

  • Registered Users Posts: 6,207 ✭✭✭highdef

Indeed....looks like the back edge of the cold front is developing into some sort of squall feature

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,480 ✭✭✭Jpmarn

I thought I heard some rumbles near Limerick city. Some websites are showing 2 strikes over the city with several more over the county. East Clare is in for some action now.
