I'm afraid away from the far North east, we will just have to enjoy the brief snow before the transition. Too much warm air arriving. But yes stranger things have happened. The computer currently says NO!

    Dew points

Well its a promising start, falling as snow along the western seaboard though admittedly mostly in North West where it was always looking good. grace7 though has put the cat amongst the pigeons with reports of Kingdom snow. Perhaps its her altitude though.

Hope it wasn't the feral cat Grace ;)

Yellow Snow and ice warning from met eireann

I saw this headline and read it as "yellow snow". I was thinking it must be some weird kind of snow, perhaps mixed with something yellow.

As Frank Zappa said, "Don't you eat that yellow snow".

Snow has arrived in Castlebar. 2 degrees.

    That's a scarily good sign :D
Where's your breeze coming from, off land?

    Hills above Tinahely, yes
Village I'm not ruling out yet
Dewpoint still sub zero in Arklow by the sea for example but the temp is rising
    Currently 2.7 dp -1c

Any breeze south or SE there is off the sea and would rise it a lot
    Less so Tinahely though

Sorted in knockananna so I hope

Sorry to be a pain, but is there a good chance of snow for the Navan/Meath region tonight?

I would say a much better chance than Dublin. Especially on higher ground. See the met warming. Navan is as north leinster as it comes and should be in firing line.

Dublin is also North Leinster....higher areas of South Dublin should do well...I expect some snow for a while in west Dublin but I feel it will be a wettish nature....

This is as hi res as the GFS gets - 0.25. Usually high level of accuracy.

From the 6z. A slight upgrade for the east on the 00z.

Yeah, Wednesday in fact looks interesting on the high res models - dp / temps / thickness all better but precipitation will be scarcer.

The slow progress of the front could be good news for the east, by the time it arrives darkness will have fallen and temps will be falling away and taking the DP down with it.

Well as long as there is precipitation left by the time it gets to the east, of course. Here in a sheltered area of North kildare, the temp peaked a while ago at 0.9c. Down to 0.8c now so that bodes well for later. Still very frosty too and the ground is frozen.
